Xbox One - General Discussion Thread
i don't mind halo 2 hd remake but halo 3 and 4 come on ms 4 just came out.
If all this were true it wouldn't surprise me if Anniversary 2 also included 1. That way they say you could play all the main games on Xbox One.

Was kind of annoyed H2 Anniversary isn't on 360. Was so close to having the entire series on one console. Find the 3 & 4 rumor pretty hard to believe, unless they're just mildly enhanced versions with no real changes, unlike 2 which will have a big graphics and sound overhaul.

Was actually going to buy an Xbone this week but after seeing that not-confirmed-but-maybe Titanfall console, I can wait a month to see if it's real.

I held out for a Titanfall console too, then read that particular Titanfall console rumor, the subsequent admission of its existence in the planning stage, and the scrapping of said plan because producing it would be too expensive. That's when I finally bit.. mine will be here on Wednesday.

It's probably very safe to pick up a console at this point; if you see a good deal, I recommend snagging it. We will hopefully have some idea of the Titanfall Beta plans, timing, etc., by the end of the week, as well.

Microsoft has announced some details on upcoming updates for 2/11 and the Titanfall lineup:

February 11 system updates

On February 11, the first update will be delivered to customers who sign into their Xbox One. It features many new improvements – including lots of behind-the-scenes updates for developers building apps and games for Xbox One, several new features we believe Xbox fans will love, stability and product updates to improve the customer experience, and continuous improvements to the quality of Kinect voice so commands become more fluid and responsive over time. While we won’t be going into all of the details of the product updates today, we will be sharing more information soon.

Some of the features you can expect to see on February 11 include:

 • The ability to see and manage your storage space. With this update, you will find it easy to find how much space your content takes up and better manage your content. You can also control your install lineup and more easily manage your download queue. We’ve separated My Games and My Apps into separate lists, so you can easily create separate queues for both. Now you can pick the order in which you want your content to load and we’ve added a boot progress indicator so you can better track updates while they load.
 • The battery power indicator is back! You can see it right on the home screen, so you can easily track how much battery life is left on your controller.
 • And, you will be able to use your USB keyboard with your Xbox One.
These are just a few of the many updates we will be shipping on February 11. We’ll share more details on these and other upcoming features in the coming weeks. We have several surprises in store that we think you’ll love.

March 4 system updates – countdown to “Titanfall”

On March 4, in advance of what is expected to be the biggest game launch of the year, we will be delivering another system update to prepare your Xbox One for “Titanfall.” This update will contain many new features and improvements, most significantly to our party and multiplayer systems. Available on March 11, “Titanfall” is a team-based online multiplayer game that showcases the power of Xbox Live, and we will be shipping a new party and multiplayer system that will help make “Titanfall” the must-have game for this generation.

This post is the first of many announcements and sneak peeks at features in the system updates. We’ve been carefully listening to your feedback and look forward to delivering many new features that will make Xbox One even better. We’re just getting started and can’t wait to share more information in the coming weeks.
It seems like some good additions, but I have no clue what the "install lineup" or "boot progress indicator" means. Am I just being stupid or does nobody else understand what that half of the first item for the 2/11 update mean?

Yeah these updates sound great. It really was inexcusable for some of these things to not be in at launch but at least the fixes are coming within 6 months of launch. I hope Sony can follow suit and fix a few of the nagging issues I have with the PS4 (main one being not notifying you when a friend comes Online).

Glad to see those things getting an update. Although they're such basic things they should have been there at launch IMO. Still I'm glad we didn't have to wait forever to get those things fixed.

Nope X1 doesn't do it either. I've looked all around for a setting and never found one.

My guess is that MS was so desperate to get something that functioned out the door by November there was a lot of stuff they left off the table to be patched in later. Sony as well, but not quite on the same level.

Yeah you guys are right now that I think about it the One doesn't have friend notifications either. This is really a mindblowing oversight by both Microsoft and Sony, I mean it's not the end of the world but c'mon...... it's 2014.

I imagine if you have 1000 friends and you're trying to watch tv through your xbox while each of em are signing on, it would get annoying. Especially for people that wouldn't know if there's a way to turn it off like in 360. The option will probably come in a later update.

to be honest 360 was the same way i think over time it got better and i feel xbox one will be same way.
What?? This line of thinking makes no sense. The 360/PS4 were introducing all of these features for the first time. So it would make sense that these features were implemented gradually but it isn't the case with the X1 and PS4. It's as though for every step forward we are taking two steps back. There is no excuse as to why these features weren't there day one. Glad to see them implemented, though.

That was actually the reasoning Microsoft gave when asked about the missing notifications. They said they are working on a solution. I think a nice fix would be just notify for favorites or give us some granular controls.

What????  That sucks about Double Helix.  They nearly overnight became a studio churning out stuff that I love.  KI is a friggin great game and a fantastic revival and Strider looks to bring joy to the 13 year old me who played Strider 1 on the Genesis (and the woefully underrated Strider 2 on the PS1).  I mean, good for them, I guess, but it seems like they were on a good trajectory and I was hoping to continue enjoying their work.

here comes amazon home entertainment system. if i remember right i did read in recent memory that amazon wanted to get into gaming in some way by maybe a game system.

It's funny, I pretty much went through the exact same process, other than actually buying it. After I saw the stuff about it being cancelled, I saw other news about it being legit. So I have no idea at this point, but since Titanfall is the only game I'm very anxious to have, I guess I can wait 2 or 3 more weeks to find out. If they are doing it, it can't possibly be hidden for much longer.

Yeah, I saw that followup and just groaned annoyance. Titanfall is the first legitimate system-seller, so there really should be a Titanfall console to accompany its release.

Sony would, likewise, be silly to not release at least an Infamous: Second Son bundle.

We'll know soon enough.

when i seen this headline i was like omg about type skip a year but no sledgehammer now just makes their own game. What waste of 3 years. i kind of feel sorry for the people and producers that have to keep making these games.
What????????

They are releasing an Infamous: Second Son bundle. The console is just a regular console though.

Did Infamous SS get delayed or something? Could have sworn it was coming out at the end of February because I was thinking how it would be coming before Titanfall but now I see on Gamestop it's listed as 3/21 or about 10 days after Titanfall.

I just beat Max: The Curse of Brotherhood.  Nice little game and well worth the $15.  The story is barely there, but it's charming enough. The puzzles are the best I've seen since Portal 2.  Some are really clever, but logical if you are paying attention.  And I have to say that after the trend of more cinematic end sequences lately, it was nice to fight final boss with a pattern and all that.  Highly recommended.

How is a month a specific date? If you assume 2/1, then it got delayed a month and a half, and if you assume 2/28, then it got delayed two weeks. It's a nebulous thing to use to give them room to push it back without it being a big deal.

Its a difference of opinion really. To me unless an actual day is given, it has no release date and more of a release window.
Now you're just going back on it, first you said it never had an official release date, then I show you proof of even the developer themselves saying February originally and you go "Oh well that doesn't prove anything".

Just admit you were wrong, it's not a difference of opinion when it's a plain as day fact.

It's specific enough, he argues they never gave it an official release date when originally they said it was coming in February, then he argues it's just a "difference of opinion" even though I go and give him clear as day proof of the original release date.

No, im not because I didnt go back, im simply stating to me, an official date was never released. Simply saying "February 2014" Isn't a release date.

So, to you, "February 2014" is a release date when no date was given? Just a time frame?

Seems like Frisky understands what im talking about.

A link posted here called it a "launch window," which is about as specific as it gets.

Quit twisting things to be right. He asked if it was delayed and you said no. He proved the developers said it would be out in February. Whether it is a release date or window doesn't matter. They said it would be out in February and it is later, that is a delay. Official is coming from the developer which is what he proved.

Seems like im not the only one that disagrees with this but alright you guys are right. It was delayed just to stop this pointless argument.

will be interesting to see sale numbers at that date of release. Feb would have been great month to release it nothing out really this month till the end.

March does seem crowded compared to releasing in February.

Figure they have to compete against:

Dark Souls 2, South Park Stick of Truth, FFX/FFX2 Remaster, Yoshi's new island, MGS Ground Zeroes, Diablo 3 Reaper, Ninja Gaiden Z, Professor Layton, and a bunch of other titles I don't find worth mentioning.

Although I guess they do have the advantage of being the only FPS that it looks like is launching, and the crowd that enjoys those kinds of games likely won't pick up one of these choices.

I don't believe I've ever spoken with you?
I don't think that's a requirement to post on a message board. I've been here for many years, and seen many like you come and go. You come in a thread for something just to get a rise out of people, argue, then carry out that argument for no real reason other than to argue. It's pointless, boring, and pretty pathetic. No one cares that you don't care for the xbox one, that you want to pick fights with pro xbox trolls like timbo, and want to contantly point out that people are wrong, alright?

Can choose to block me if I upset you that much, lol.
