Xbox One - General Discussion Thread

No matter your setup, your frequency in upgrading, the pc tech market is advancing in exponential terms so if you have the money to keep up game on, if not buy a PS4, Xbox One or Wii U lol.
really? I thought that it was kind of starting to stagnate. Also with most games developed with consoles in mind nowadays I don't see the required specs for games growing too much

Well, I just posted in the dead thread so I'll post here too.
. It works with my TiVo and OTA well, only hitch is during rewind and fast forward it will sometimes do random stuff when you tell it to play again. I ended up just putting my Tivo back to my AV unit directly.

And with twin toddler boys, it has a lot of trouble understanding voice commands over the all the chaos that can be going on.

The UI and features are much more impressive than I expected. I can't wait for them to smooth it out, there is a lot of potential.

Forza 5 is awesome as expected from the little I have played. I do agree with the others, there is noticeable aliasing compared to my PS4 games.

Controller feels too light IMO. Prefer the DS4 by quite a bit.

Mine had plastic shavings on faceplate edges that hadn't been removed from manufacturing process. Packaging was excellent in its box. Had more of a "ooooo" during the unboxing than the PS4, may just be do to the day one box. I don't really get those who say it looks more premium than PS4, I Think the opposite. The One panels flexes when you push on the tops and sides

One thing that kills me tho..." Look at how fancy our QR reader is!..." Then they put a character only Xbox Live trial code in Forza 5. Really?

I got Ryse for $41 today at Best Buy, I bought a bunch of other stuff but only just realized that after looking at my receipt. I was doing a price match and told him the price but I guess he saw something else. You won't hear me complain about it!

The 64 player Battlefield 4 you're playing on the PS4 or Xbox One now, yeah PC players have been enjoying that for some time. They'll always maximize a game for each platform, it's easy to turn down or some settings off to make it multiplatform. It's harder to go the other way.

True but nowadays isn't the pc version an afterthought? So no matter how powerful your pc is you can only up res a console port so much

Anyone know of a good xbox one kinect mount?  That is the only thing I see being an issue for me now with the fitness program.  Too low below the tv to really get the floor in the view, and my tv is way too thin for it to sit on.

not when all I want to play is halo and it's not out yet. to be fair though the 360 was 400 8 years ago so 500 seems pretty dang good actually seeing how much more powerful it is.
My guess is that they will cut the price by $100 at E3 unless it's selling like hot cakes still.

So I stopped into BBY tonight to do a trade about 45 min to closing time. Sitting on the floor behind the counter was 7 Day One Xbox Ones. I asked the guy what the deal was with them and he said they were reserved but starting in the morning tomorrow they would be released to the public. I am tempted to try and get one but I swore I would wait at least a year. I was surprised to see 7 of them though.

Side note: Best Buy needs to clean up there game department. They had some many empty display boxes from the lead up the release that it was hard to tell what was real and if there were systems for sale.
Not surprising, BBY is incompetent as shit. I preordered a PS3 there then cancelled the preorder yet the store called me to tell me I can pick it up. I cancelled it in August and checked my account and verified it was cancelled.

Preorder systems for more stores are like that.  You can cancel games at gamestop months in advance and still get phone calls or text notifications the day before the game will be ready for pick up.

With most games, yes. With DICE games, no. BF games are ridiculous on PC. BF3 on a nice PC puts BF4 on even PS4 to shame.

What's with Xbox fitness? Is it a full fledged program or just a limited feature or demo type of thing. It says free for a limited time. My wife might like it.

They seriously need a better setting menu system. I'm Live Gold, my wife isnt. How do I turn off facial recognition?

To my knowledge it's free for the first year of the Xbox One.

Anyone else having issues with cable where the screen flashes to black every other second?

I haven't tried to go through setup again.  It worked fine when i first setup the console, but the last two times I tried to watch tv through the Xbox, it gave me the screen issues.

Been playing since launch, loving every bit of it.

Games I've played:

  • Skylanders Swap Force - Holy poop the graphics are a huge upgrade from the X360!
  • LEGO Marvel - Awesome game, graphics look a little better than X360.
  • Killer Instinct - Fun fun fun fun fun fun.  Don't know why people complain about the graphics I think it looks great.
  • Forza 5 - Damn!  This game looks good, and plays good, the driveatar addition makes it insanely fun.
  • Ghosts - Slight improvement from X360 but can't get into the game, ever since the major peeps left to build Respawn the IW games seem like they're lacking something.
  • NFS: Rivals - Meh.   I'm a huge NFS Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted fan, but this game just doesn't feel right...again graphics slightly improved from the X360 version.
Still need to play:
Dead Rising 3

the nflthing was awsome for nfl sunday today. Only thing i would say im not sure if it was just me or for some reason seems like if im watching tv into xbox then my tv the video seems like it has a grey color over it.

Oh yeah, that's the best part I forgot to mention, the sharing function is awesome!

Me and my sis got an XBOX One each, we bought CoD Ghosts digitally and are both sharing it along with the season pass.  We are also sharing Killer Instinct and Forza 5.

How it works in a nutshell.

My "HOME" console is at my sisters, and my sisters "HOME" console is the one I play on.  Whenever I buy or download DLC I need to do it at my "HOME" console, and whenever she buys she needs to do it at hers.   This way we're both sharing items together.

Works perfectly so far.  Love splitting games with her...much much cheaper than having to be one each.

i just got done play 3 hours of ryse after renting it. I'm still puzzled why these media reviewers gave this game such a low raiting it's not great but it's pretty fun and looks amazing. If i had to rate it so far i would say a high 7/10.

Usually because the hype is no where near the finished product it gets bad ratings.

I don't think Knack deserves the scores it got. Ill give Ryse a rent but not going to pay $60 for it.

i don't think ryse had that much hype. I don't even think any launch title for any system had much hype in media it was more about the systems then the games.

Ryse is actually fun, repetitive combat be damned. Though I can't say paying $60 for it is a great option. About 2 hours in and I'm already 30% done with the game. It's Crysis 3 all over again, thanks Crytek!

Though the multiplayer co-op is good for some lulz. Again, just not worth $60. definitely a good title at $20. Welcome to the launch lineup woes.

Go home by hitting the guide/xbox one button or say "Xbox Go Home". Highlight the game and use the start button, select quit. That's how I leave all my games/apps before shutting down.

Nope. Theres quite a few features missing from the 360 AFAIK when it comes to party/friends

- You have to go to the app everytime to see your friends list, there is no more guide hitting and seeing your friends.

- You have to turn on party chat everytime

Other things:

- No battery life notification

- No way to have inverted controls carry over to every game.

- No way to disable rumble feature for every game

- No auto signing in if Kinect is unplugged

- No way to be busy or away. It's either offline or online.

- No custom soundtracks per say, you have to snap on the audio player and even then you can't rip the tracks off the CD and play the music in the background.

- No demos for xbox live games anymore. Not even sure if MS is going to separate retail from arcade games at this point? I.E Crimson Dragon and Loco Cycle don't have demos.

Just the few things I can recall off the top of my head. I'd assume a lot of things get fixed outside of the demos.

alot of this stuff i see coming back in some kind of patch it just shows this thing was rushed to market both systems feel that way with all the stuff not included.

i will say this ms has some work to do to fix some things but the system it self when it comes to the ui and other things has a chance to be amazing in a year or two. I think xbox one is one of those things you buy for what will be coming down the road i think same thing could be said for both next gen systems.

So she buys/plays stuff on your console and you buy/play on hers? That allows you to both play the games at the same time?

has anyone notice any issues with netflix streaming im watching my first thing on netflix since launch and it seems to lag sometimes and stutter not sure if it's just the program im watching or what. It's hard to tell seeing unlike 360 it don't show stream strength

omg i just thought of something that would be awesome. what if Microsoft put a touch screen in the middle of the controller and basically had the playstation android app on it for managing your friends etc?
Yeah because with all the stuff going on with the dualshock 4 controller the battery life last forever. What's the battery life for the new Xbox One controller, reviews haven't really mentioned it and all I've seen is a few outlets said a couple of days they lost vibration in the contoller but it was still working for game input.

So she buys/plays stuff on your console and you buy/play on hers? That allows you to both play the games at the same time?
Exactomundo!

We were kind of scared at first, we started with one game, CoD Ghosts, and that worked perfectly, then I added my season pass to my "home console" (hers) and redownloaded on her "home console" (mine) and we've both been playing together at the same time, so we expanded to Forza 5, and Killer Instinct.

There will be demos, through the little short clips that they have to show you more about your console, there have been mentions of a Loco Cycle Demo, so I'm sure its going to happen sometime soon.

And you're right, that's a pretty solid list, the one thing I miss the most is the custom soundtracks :whistle2:(

Seems like this OS needed a little more time in the oven. But the 360 interface went through all kinds of refreshes and revisions to get to where it is today, so I'm sure this one will mature too given time.

I started it tonight. It basically has a variety of workouts from a bunch of different programs including Beachbody workouts. So it's a great way to see if you like the workout moves, the instructor, etc, before purchasing the entire program. Right now Shoulders and Arms and Plyometrics from P90X are on there, a couple from turbofire, some 10 minute trainer, and a bunch of others. While your working out it gives a lot of feedback telling you if you are doing the moves properly, shows an outline of you where you can see what muscles you are using, and has "challenges" where it pits you against the community with the same gender and age group. The one thing that annoyed me tonight was I had to pause in the middle of Turbofire to get water, and when I came back Xbox One stated my gamer tag had been logged out and I had to start over.

If they could somehow make the app work with my existing Beachbody DVDs I'd be incredibly happy. The achievement unlocks, challenges, and tracking are a great motivator.

I have two questions (so far) that I'm hoping people can help me with:

1.  Is it taking everyone else a substantial amount of time for games to install?  It seems like about 30 minutes pass from the time I put the game in for the first time until the game is fully installed.

2.  How do we get game videos to youtube?  I uploaded them and saved them to skydrive but I don't know what to do from there.  Thanks!

What is going on is if you notice when you put game in it tells you game has update before game installs the system downloads the update.

Which is double the amount of 360's sold when it launched. Sooooo
I'm not saying that the xbox one flopped because the PS4 could do worse when it launches later this week in the UK. Just that I'm shocked by the number since I expected the xbox one to sell way more than that since the X360 dominates the UK right behind the USA.
