Xbox One - General Discussion Thread

I thought $25 was cheap.

I also have a harmony remote but it doesn't work inside the YouTube app if I remember correctly. But I wouldn't buy the Media Remote, I'll use the controller if need be.

Is actually like to upgrade to Harmony's top end remote but still gasp at the price.

Turned on X1 today and went to "choose this person", and it had me enter my password..first time that happened. Anyone else experience this?

yes im going to talk to kinect late at night when i mostly watch tv/netflix. plus that remote will control the tv and cable box so will be to have one remote that does everything.

but will be honest i don't use netflix much on xbox one seeing the app is kind of garbage not sure what netflix was thinking when they made the app. The video selection is god awful compared to 360 netflix app.
Oh cool, so that remote can turn on my receiver and change the channel?

Found it odd, yesterday I check my BBY account and my pw didnt work, had to send in for a reset, the pw I usually use on BBY for years  wasn't strong enough for them so I had to make a word that I'll never remember lol

Got invited to march update beta. Not sure I will do it seeing I can not party up in chat and game with anyone with out it until everyone gets it march 4th.

It made me do that last night.

I had no clue what was going on

I think they are jumping the gun a bit, the system is still pretty damn successful by all accounts, it's vastly outpacing the 360 at the rate it's going. But unfortunately when your direct competition is nearly doubling your sales, people get panicky and wonder why you aren't matching or beating them.

Good move to move some units. They need this to help keep the gap from widening any more and hopefully narrow or before Sony FETS Infamois out and gets more stock in the west again after the Japanese launch.

Kind of stinks it's a digital copy though, but that's increasingly becoming the norm for hardware bundles. Moot for me as I have no interest in Titanfall if I eventually get an X1 as I don't do competitive MP.

It's starting. Price cut in the UK with Titanfall packed in. It's just a matter of time till it hits the US. Probably after E3. MS is still taking the US market as a given despite their poor sales last month.

*facepalm, you dumb ass wipe, "edit" you're a faaagoootttt (said in Dan Cook's voice/standup material)

The reason of a poor appeal of the Xbox One in UK regions is because Microsoft went heavy on the NA cable and TV side of things. Those people over there have Sky TV and what not and from what I've heard aren't interested in most of the features that look promising to us on the other side of the pond. The system also costs more for them in pounds than us in dollars. There are many factors but those are just a few to keep in mind.

It's easy to pinpoint one area and then claim fact in regards to the whole. It's also dumb.

Now for the Titanfall Xbox One System Bundle. Ahhh, It's a missed opportunity I think.

System with pre-paid Titanfall code.

or

Limited Edition Titanfall System, w/ LE Titanfall Controller and Game

Yeah too bad.

i see you took time out from bashing nintendo to post how cute. im not shocked at this at all the uk sale numbers are awful for x1 compared to u.s sale numbers. The first price drops we see of x1/ps4 will be 2014 xmas season in u.s.

PS4 won't be dropping price any time soon with how well its doing. Xbox One should have a pricecut/bundle deals this holiday if their sales continue to lack.

The fact you are already seeing a bundle with a free game and month of xbox live shows Microsoft knows they need to start moving consoles and close the gap.

But it's also THIS game. At this moment on the consoles short life this is the game to sell the system. Some people were already thinking of buying the console for this game, this makes it a much easier decision for some people and it's important right now for them.

It's a good move and not a panic move IMO.

i think we will see some form of bundle for both ps4/xbox one this holiday that will be below msrp 100 percent. I don't care how well ps4's are selling at that point their target will be casual people and those people love deals.

I don't hate to say it since competition is always a good thing for the consumer, but at this rate I have no doubt Xbox One will price drop before end of year.

I'm guessing the system itself will drop $450, or $400. Honestly I would be shocked if they get rid of Kinect since then it would ruin the whole ecosystem they've presented with developers for people always having a Kinect.

This bundle reeks of last minute decision. There's nothing unique about it, other than a voucher card and the "box". I won't be surprised if it's the standard box with a sleeve over it with the Titanfall artwork, and a voucher card slipped into the box. Mind you, it's a great deal, but still it would have been nice to at least include the Titanfall controller that they already have.

Yeah I feel like Microsoft didn't want to go all in with a Titanfall exclusive console. Ahh, I gotta stop playing WSOP: Full House Pro.

Not having the Titanfall themed controller in the box is a head scratching move though, esp since Microsoft knows they're going to sell a lot of these.

They probably should have included the Titanfall controller, but the bundle definitely isn't last minute, it's just second option. They attempted making a Titanfall branded console that in the end wasn't considered cost-effective. Since the controller is the same price bought separately they should have just included it. Although, if you're going to buy this bundle you probably want another controller and can just buy the Titanfall one if you want it.

Yeah, definitely second option. Cost-effective for MS, perceived as a bit of a deal, but nothing special. Glad I didn't wait on a Titanfall console.. but would have preferred one.

I don't anticipate the rumored PS4 Infamous: Second Son bundle will be anything special, either.

How is that a head scratcher? Microsoft knows they will sell them anyway so why include it when you could another sale?

Microsoft includes a free highly anticipated game and month of live and people still bitch? Jesus.

A lot of websites, and people on Twitter are saying how this new bundle along with the price drop in the UK are a giant slap in the face to early adopters, can't say I don't agree with them.

Oh not this shit again. I'm don't mean to imply that people are wrong for feeling this way but after about 3 months of taking advantage of PSN sales and then having games pop up on PS+ I got over it. The fact is that any and all of these systems can be had for less down the road. Microsoft wants/needs to get the sales machine going again. The folks who already purchased an X1 like you and I already have enjoyed the system for 3 months now. I think that's worth the $60 savings.

Also, Titanfall as we all know is a huge release for them as far as I know there aren't any other major releases for a few months after it. They have to get this right.

next game with hype after titanfall and s.s for next gen is watch dogs but who knows when that will be out

Totally disagree. With early adoption this is the risk you run. I know it's only 3 months later, but that's how it goes.

And all of those people will find something else to whine about next week.

Here's a secret for all the early adopters out there:

You are buying at the highest price this will ever see. The price will go down.

Yeah, my response to the people complaining about an already price drop or a free game bundle, like Timbo stated UK did have Fifa bundle so I don't see the point of an outcry.

"No offense but this is the case with every generation of hardware and electronics."

They probably should have included the Titanfall controller, but the bundle definitely isn't last minute, it's just second option. If this "bundle" is just a standard X1, which by all accounts it is, with two vouchers thrown in there is one way to confirm you're wrong.... if the seals are cut and sealed again it is absolutely a last minute decision.

i think we will see some form of bundle for both ps4/xbox one this holiday that will be below msrp 100 percent. I don't care how well ps4's are selling at that point their target will be casual people and those people love deals.
I think you're right for the Xbox One. The only way it's true for the PS4 is if it's no longer supply constrained. If they're still selling out a year after launch (next holiday) then I don't think we'll see a price below MSRP on it. I mean, why would they do that? Will they still be selling out at that point? It seems unlikely but who knows.

ps4 has a second son bundle coming out. Whats the diff that uk got a free game at launch and non of us in u.s got that i could care less lol.
Maybe. There's the image going around and that would make it really tempting but if they can't keep stock in stores why bother?

Totally disagree. With early adoption this is the risk you run. I know it's only 3 months later, but that's how it goes.
I agree.

People on this board have been saying this since before launch. Honestly, people knew what they were getting into. While some folks were saying things like, "It will never happen because Microsoft said so!" everyone with any common sense or memory longer than a housefly knew it was coming. Even Timbo is saying we'll seel below MSRP prices this holiday. It's obvious.

Granted this might be the fastest a bundle is made with the biggest game on the console, if people are getting mad about this, they never should have bought it at launch. Launch consoles are nothing but trouble. Buggy, unfinished OS, no games, more prone to bricking, the most expensive it will ever be, etc. Early adopters that get upset about price cuts or game pack-ins need to stop early adopting.

Bundle it up, I say. Sell more systems. Drop the price. Whatever. Keep it going.

The more people who buy-in and are playing, the more money will be invested in game development (and the more work I can get as a voice actor, =)

Eventually innovation will trickle in and we'll get a whole new spat of games to boot.

Early adopters that get upset about price cuts or game pack-ins need to stop early adopting.
Wait, wait.. that's logic! Makes too much sense. (And is exactly correct.)

Totally disagree. With early adoption this is the risk you run. I know it's only 3 months later, but that's how it goes.
I don't disagree about the risk, and I have enjoyed my Xbox One.

But it isn't very friendly from a consumer standpoint from the people who bought your system early on, and supported you to only 3 months later find a price drop, and a free game bundled with it.

I will say this bundle will definitely help sales, I know my brother is actually going to get an Xbox One now and this bundle may have helped push him over the edge a bit.

Wonder how much Microsoft is paying for the game, I wonder if preorder numbers will be affected from the people who were waiting to get consoles but preordered the game.

Interesting that the rumor about the Titanfall bundle being canceled and the rumor about it being real were both kind of true. Bundle does exist with the game and custom packaging, but the custom look of the console was canceled.

Regardless, I'm happy. Console plus Titanfall for 440 bucks after gift cards. Order placed.

well, with this news of the titanfall edition xbox one bundle being release. then the rumored $400 discless digital only xbox one can't be that far off.

Well UK got a price drop but had FIFA bundled at launch so it's a wash there.

Here you get the most anticipated game if you waited. I understand loyalty etc. But is it what it is. The more people in the community playing the better IMO.

Yep. The bitching never fails to amazes though. If you don't want to pay the highest price a console will ever be, don't buy at launch. Just as annoying are the people bitching about having nothing to play on their x1 or ps4 the last couple of months. Consoles always have droughts the first six months to a year. Don't buy at launch if you can't cope with that. Especially if you only play the AAA games and can't fill the gaps with indies etc.

Really, buying at launch only makes sense for online gamers who want to play the next gen versions of their games from day one. Otherwise it's just people falling for the hype and wanting the latest thing day one.

Being 99% a single player gamer, I doubt I'll ever buy around launch again. I held off this time and I'm having a blast gaming on PS3, Wii U, Vita and 3DS. I'll take the next gen plunge late this year or early next when there are better deals, more games out and a bunch of cheap games available.
