Xbox One - General Discussion Thread

There's a headset that isn't Bluetooth. I've had this thing for 4+ years. Still works. Charge it once every few days (or about 7 straight hours in one charge). And never have an issue.
Yeah this is what I had. I want one of these for Xbox One.

Looks like the stereo adapter got pushed back to March 11th. That's annoying.. but I guess I can tolerate playing TItanfall with the headset (oh, no!) for a few hours until my adapter gets delivered.

Unless BB has them in stock.. just can't count on that store, though. Seems if I do in-store pickup, there's a long wait - and if it says it's "available" at the store, it's not on shelves and no one can find it. Pretty sure BB stays in business only because they're the main national electronics chain these days. For shame.

im thinking about picking up plants vs zombies game looks so fun and very well done for it being their first system game. Might be one of the best not talked about game in awhile.

This should come as no surprise to anyone that's been paying attention for the last year or so.

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/feb/27/gchq-nsa-webcam-images-internet-yahoo

While the documents do not detail efforts as widescale as those against Yahoo users, one presentation discusses with interest the potential and capabilities of the Xbox 360's Kinect camera, saying it generated "fairly normal webcam traffic" and was being evaluated as part of a wider program.

Microsoft, the maker of Xbox, faced a privacy backlash last year when details emerged that the camera bundled with its new console, the Xbox One, would be always-on by default.

Anyone get that email..buy a season pass and get 5000 rewards credits?
I did.. but 5,000 reward credits is worth, what, $5?

I suppose that might be useful on a season pass for, say, The Wolf Among Us, which is $14.99 - if that's on your buy-list. But otherwise.. any suggestions? I'd love to use it if there's anything for me to use it on, but just not seeing anything worthwhile.

I was just wondering who else got screwed cause of this, I own all the sp, and TWAU season pass was on sale a few weeks back and I picked that up. They need to recoginze long time xboxers who own stuff already lol

Looks like all the new 3rd Party headsets come with an adapter (is it the MS one or something they designed?)  Regardless, I'm curious which will be the best (Turtle Beach, Polk or Microsoft).  I personally think the Polk LOOKS the best.

Can all of these headphones be used for regular listening, like with my TV?

In addition, if you buy the Polk Melee's they will send you the XBOX ONE adapter for free.  I wonder how long shipping takes though.  I've seen the Melee's cheaper ($100 vs the MSRP of $200).

Does anyone know if you lose EVERYTHING from wiping Dead Rising 3 progress? Brother's going to be getting an Xbox One soon so I was going to wipe my data so we both start fresh in co-op, but I just realized I might lose the special event costumes I received from playing the game early in launch and at Xmas.

I dont think you lose anything you recieve from achievements/ weekly events. You could just start a new game I thought but might be wrong.

"The March update that delivers Twitch will also bring back toasts to the Xbox, the little notification pop-ups that tell you when a friend is online. And, Gibson said, Twitch will have its own toasts, alerting you when a friend starts broadcasting. These pop-ups, which can be disabled, won't appear on live broadcasts for others to see."
i now have every feature i wanted that was not in launch. So happy ms has heard are complaints and fixed the stuff so fast.

He said  was told about big new stuff planned for x1 ,but could not speak open about it.

Too many unanswered questions about all the headphones at this point.

What we do know: the MS headphones are stereo. I would assume the Polk ones are, too, as there is no mention of anything real in any of the glory-write-ups. They both may be capable of simulated surround through software processing on the One at some point, but not until they allow the adapter to do so, which MS mentioned as a future possibility.

So long as all these headphones are coming with an adapter - and don't have one built in - you should be able to use them with anything sporting a 3.5mm connector, which is standard on most headphones.

Were these download-items from, say, the MS store? If they are, you should be able to re-download them, just like you would if you bought DR3 digitally and later deleted it.

I just had that weird black screen thing happen to me. First time.

Looked it up and did the 10 second reset and it seemed to fix the problem. Scared me for a bit there, last thing I want is my new system to break this early into it's life! haha

I have some Turtle Beach X31s and had a question for you guys. The wireless transmitter connects via RCA cables and gets power through USB. How could I get in game audio from the Xbone to the headset? Would I need to run a spdif cable to a RCA converter to get my RCA cables, then I'd be set? I'm clueless when it comes to this stuff, so any help is appreciated. Just trying to be able to play while the kids sleep.

That would be 100 percent correct. I use the Logitech F540s which they no longer make and it works just as good as it did with the 360. With the 360 though it had the vga hookup that didn't require a converter. This is the converter I bought

it's necessary for audio. Since the only outputs the xbox one use for sound are hdmi and spdif. I use the kinect as my microphone and can hear other players talk through the headset.
I just run my 540's base straight to the tv and get my xb1's (and every other console connected to the tv) audio. My chat should work like this once the adapter hits next week, right?

I figured that's how you had it hooked up. I game on a computer monitor and it has no rca hook ups. With the chatting, I would just use the Kinect, it does such a great job at picking up voices. You can pick up all of the talk form others through the headset's speakers like you would game audio.

Perfect, thanks for the response! Time to get a converter box and a cable, WAY better than shelling out $$$ for a whole new headset.

Anyone use a splitter for HDMI.  my wife hates the XBOX ONE interface, so I currently have the HDMI cable from my cable box going directly to my receiver.  However, I was thinking of getting a splitter that would run one cable to my RECEIVER and another to my XBOX for the HDMI coming out of my cable box.  Thus, it would give both options.  Just cuious if that would work, degrade picture?

I did research before the Xbox One came out on these and it seemed like a crapshoot. Some people even claimed cable companies can kill the signal when it's split. As in, once you split it it fucks the picture up purposely. I honestly have no first hand knowledge though.

My wife actually loves the Xbox cable integration more than I do. She uses the voice commands way more.

A buddy of mine runs hdmi from his cable box to the xbox AND component from his cable box to his tv. This way he or other family members don't have to mess with the One for just tv viewing.

I don't use the cable box integration but I am still looking for a good 4 x 1 HDMI switch? I have a Panasonic Plasma 3D TV and tried the model from Monoprice twice with no luck. I kept getting static and a fuzzy picture from my PS3 and 3D Blu-ray player. With a 15 month old running around using a receiver with speakers as an option as a switch is out of the question. Is there any other good options out there that I could try.

So the Twitch streaming was shown off by Major Nelson yesterday. It looks great.

-If using kinect, you can put the picture in any of the 4 corners

-you can snap twitch chat

-viewers don't see snapped twitch chat, they get your full game

-automatic archiving of twitch streams (unlike ps4)

-any notifications show up for you but won't display for viewers

-displays how many viewers you have at bottom of screen

-the xbox stream quality is apparently better than the ps4

I suppose you could try crashnburn's solution first. Might save you some money. I have to do it that way cause I like gaming on my 24in dell.
You know, I feel dumb for not even considering that option. Simple audio out RCA cables from TV should work like a charm, only question now is how to run power to the transmitter.

wow really impressed by the quality of streaming compared to ps4 that looked pixeled and almost never see ps4 streams on twitch anymore for that reason.
