Xbox One - General Discussion Thread

I don't know but I am just not feeling Sunset Overdrive. It just looks generic and there is nothing exciting about it.

fall 2014 yesss sunset overdrive looks amazing and these guys made amazing games over the years can't wait.

oh and what's so generic about it? This is why companys don't make new ip's because pepole like you complain it looks generic but you keep buying same games like metal gear solid/cod/ac i can go on and on

oh no, how dare people have different tastes.
it has nothing to do with taste. he says the game looks generic when it's a new ip but people play the same games over and over. This is the reason why companys don't make new ip's becasue they know if it's not a game out for awhile it will not do well.

Sorry but Quantum Break just looks way better than Sunset Overdrive. That's cool that you guys are excited about it though. More power to you guys.

Like what you want, but for Sunset Overdrive to look generic it would have to be very similar to other games. Which it definitely is not. You misused the word.

True, I could have used a different word but I'm just not excited for it. I am not completely dismissing it though. Would most likely wait for a review and than maybe a rental.

Sunset Overdrive looks really AMAZING! I love the vibrant colors and the cartoony look. MS picked a great time to partner with insomniac cause I think they've returned to form with this one. The game looks like a system seller to me.

Generic, the one overused missued word that gamers and critics themselves use all the time. Big awesome shooter - generic shooter with ohh grey and browns.

Blue, you might have been thinking of the word indifferent, as you are indifferent to the game while by no means is Sunset Overdrive generic. It's bursting with personality, a true Insomniac Games characteristic with an art style to complement.

Yeah I should have probably used that word instead and in no ways I was dissing you guys for being excited for Sunset Overdrive too. Right now it is not just for me.

It looks like a mix of Infamous, Ratchet and Clank, and Dead Rising with a Jet Grind Radio skin. It's the first Xbox One game I'm genuinely excited for. Might just help justify that $500 investment. Of course since Insomniac owns the IP wouldn't surprise me if it makes it's way to other platforms, maybe the sequel a la Titanfall.

This is really weird to say but I think if sunset's sequel makes it over to PS4 I probably wouldn't play it. When ME2 came to PS3 I stuck with Xbox for the entire trilogy. This gen I am enjoying my xbox way more than my PS4 other than for FF games.

Would depend on the story. Since things carried on from ME to ME2 it would make since to stay with one system.

Don't think that will really be an issue for stuff like Titanfall and Sunset Overdrive.

Why does it feel like the next gen is just a bunch of side scrolling indie games? I'm sure people love to play them, but good god. I didn't pay $500 to play side scrolling indies that I could have played for the past 15 years. If Battlefield wasn't released at launch I wouldn't have picked up a next gen console. It has been well worth it for a next gen BF, but we need some real games

have you been under a rock last 6 months? Not sure how every game is indie that is out and good and good comes coming out.

What exactly do people expect to next gen to mean?
My guess is better pictures and all games to be 1080p with 60fps.

There are a lot of indie games which isn't for everyone. Hell I hate about 70% of them. Then again I am a shut in other than my job who has very few time for friends and it seems that most of the indie games I see out right now are couch co-op ones.

Tons of indie games, and some just developers who try to get some sort of start, come out for PC, a system that costs way more than the current-gen consoles. Game whatever you want to game and there are plenty of top notch titles out there to justify your gaming time.

Did you fuss when the 360 launched and they started releasing XBLA games for it every week or so? Or when the Playstation 3 began to get PSN games? Side-scrolling games tend to be downloadable because there's less of an audience for them at retail and they cost less time and money to make. Complaining about downloadable games not being the same as retail ones or not all being generic first-person shooters is silly and nonproductive.

Hey I did not complained about Sunset Overdrive being generic. I just stated it was generic looking because it didn't wowed me like other new ip in the past. Sure I could probably worded it differently but what has been said has already been said. When I am wrong I will admit to it.

Noticed that I didn't hide behind the "in my opinion" statement that other people has tired to used before thinking that it will protect them from criticism. Of course it is your own opinion. If you can't accept the criticism from your post than don't post. I accept all criticism coming my way.

Also you have to be one of the biggest loser in life if you have to criticizes another person based on how they spend their own money. I earned my money the right way so keep your mouth shut!

Here's my Nutjitsu review. And the video:

Also, I got Super Time Force early and it's very very good. Fans of run-and-gun shooters like Contra will love the gameplay, and the awesome pixel art and clever writing make it even better.

Ouch my wallet did not need to hear that.

BTW Guyz: Diablo 3 Ultimate Evil Edition is no longer a PS4 current gen console exclusive. It's coming to the X1, as well as the 360 and PS3. Now if only Towerfall and Injustice would come out.

Hmmm, checked my email tonight and I have a Xbox One Survey from [email protected]. Said I was receiving it because I opted in for promotional e-mails from Microsoft. A heads up I guess, supposedly you can grab a free Microsoft game out of it. I didn't see any link in it though.

I'm not complaining that arcade games are being released. I'm complaining that nothing else is being released.

That's what it's like to have a new console at launch. It takes about a year for the retail releases to start rolling in regularly. Wolfenstein and Watch Dogs are coming later this month though, so I'd hardly say nothing else is being released.

Thanks for that review of nutjitsu, besides avatar it was the easiest 1000 I have ever completed. If more of the ID games are cheap like ninjitsu, I wouldn't have a problem supporting independent devs.

Yup. $399

Should have just had two SKUs from the jump if they were to eventually cave.

I'm cool with it as long as they continue to support and better it through the operating system.

Yep, they'd probably be winning in the US, if not worldwide, if they'd launched with the $399 with no Kinect sku from the get go. And definitely winning if they'd done that and never tried the DRM, always online crap, as they had the momentum from the 360 doing so well in the west.

They better make a button to record game clips seeing it would suck if those people had to jump into menus to record a game clip.

Now question is how much will they sell kinect for.

Let the real war start. This is good for ms but bad for us with kinect . Now we will never get high budget kinect games.
Like I said, I don't really care about Kinect games but love the operating system working with it, and the apps, and the Skype stuff. As long as they don't totally abandon making it better as they have so far, I'm fine with it.

They did good job building 360 around kinect.

And people told me they would never remove thr kinect :)
I thought there was a chance, given how many 180s they already made, but figured they'd be to stubborn.

But sales have really be lagging, and not beating the PS4 in the month Titanfall launched was a huge blow to them, so it's not surprising given that.

In any case, I'm glad it happened. Always better to give consumers more choice, and as someone who hates motion/voice control stuff I'm always happy to see that trending away from becoming the norm/standard packed in. Plus the X1 is now an option for me if I eventually cave on sticking with one platform this generation to avoid backlog.
