Q. What is MyPunchcard?
A. MyPunchcard is a part of the Xbox LIVE Rewards program open to all members. Through MyPunchcard, Xbox LIVE Rewards members can get rewarded for performing a specific set of actions outlined in the Punchcard for each offer. Once all punches are earned on a specific Punchcard, get rewarded!

A. Each Punchcard has a set amount of punches required in order to complete it. Once a specific action is completed and a punch is earned, it can take up to 96 hours for it to appear on the MyPunchcard page. Xbox LIVE Rewards members are only eligible to receive a Reward once all punches have been earned and the entire Punchcard is complete. There is a limit of one Reward per one completed Punchcard, unless otherwise noted.

Q. Where can I find the available Punchcards?

April's PlaytoEarn Punchcard
Check your status - May take 3-5 days to update
XBLA DLC purchases do not count toward the April Punchcard - source

Cornelius's list of sources for last-minute XBLA purchase ideas:
  • The Wikipedia page for XBLA releases, sorted by MSP.
  • Xbox.com's sorted list of best-selling XBLA titles.
  • Major Nelson's most-recent list of top 20 XBLA games purchased.
  • The Twisted Pixel bundle ... seriously, it's 3600 MSP worth of games for 800 MSP!
  • The DOTW for April 30th, listed on our OP, as well as Major Nelson's blog, which will go live around 4/30 @ 2am PDT, and be valid for 14-15 hours up through the promo's deadline between 4pm-5pm'ish PDT (depending how they've configured the reporting servers to account for GMT).
Note I was going to also suggest the "Angry Birds Trilogy" sale starting 4/30, but since it's a GoD title, it doesn't count.
  • Games your friends have picked up. Use the "Compare Games" feature on their profile, which will list their games in order of most-recently played by default.
  • Atari-published games, which you should assume will get de-published as soon as its game licenses/IP are sold off in bankruptcy court.
  • Games NOT found on compilation discs, because you can often find them "cheap" on eBay or used-game retailers. See this XBLA thread post (under "XBLA Discs") for more info & lists.
  • And finally, TylerH1701's list of XBLA games yet to go on sale
Hope this helps anyone's last-minute purchase dilemma. ;)

FAQ:
_________________________________________________

Q: So what is this and how much does it cost?
A: Xbox Rewards is a free loyalty program run by ePrize for the Microsoft Corporation. They offer free and Gold Xbox Live members "rewards" for completing survey, making qualified purchases, or other actions during a specified period.

Q: Where do I start?
A: You should start by reviewing the official FAQ. Once you are done there, and you have decided to join, you are ready to start earning rewards.

Q: I never got my reward for my first purchase after joining the rewards program?
A: According to the official FAQ. You will only earn that reward for your first purchase from the marketplace ever. If you made a purchase before joining the program, you are out of luck.

Q: I never got my reward for activating Netflix after joining the rewards program?
A: According to the official FAQ and some discussion with @XboxSupport You will only earn that reward for the first time you ever activate Netflix on your specific gamertag. If you did that before joining the program, you are out of luck. If you are still good, you have to have had Netflix activated for 1 month and have watched 2+ hours of streaming content during that time period.

Q: When will this end?
A: According to the official T&C, the program is scheduled to end at 3:59 p.m. GMT on June 30, 2012. It is possible that the program will be renewed or go after that, but there hasn't been more info on that yet.

Q: Will my Xbox LIVE Rewards Points expire?
A: Rewards Points do expire, so be sure to use them by June 30, 2012.

Q: How do I use my expiring Microsoft Points first?
A: Promotional points with expiration dates are automatically redeemed first before purchased points. [source]
No no I don't WANT them punished. I was simply replying to all the people saying that MS COULD NOT punish people and it would be unlawful to do so. I was just pointing out that they could very easily punish people and do so in a variety of ways. Not only that, it wouldn't even be technically punishing anybody.

I pretty much agree with you. It's just there's some days/times in my life with then unfairness of it all kind of gets to me. Been sick this week and the meds they gave me pretty much got me just as sick, a lot of other stuff has been catching up to me... And I was pretty excited that I'd be able to get a free game or some free DLC or something and it sucked pretty bad to have it taken away. The fact that those who knowingly spent the points got to keep their haul was just salt on the wound.
Ahh ok. Still I think they would have a problem since their support team came out and said enjoy them, have fun, no worries, etc. That pretty much sealed it imo. But yeah they might announce a free game or avatar award/prop. Since they haven't technically made a official statement it could still happen.
Doing that would be just as bad as what they are apparently doing, and that's letting the (mostly, but not all) dishonest people who spent the points keep them...while punishing those who didn't.

You know, they could easily ban GT's for it, it's just basically a few mouse clicks...they could deduct XBL gold time...they could put people in the negative MSP...or they COULD just flat out bill people.

What should they do? Probably just give all those who had the points taken away a free XBLA game or maybe a couple months of Gold and just call it even.
No, they would never ban Gamer Tags for this, they will never charge and they won't do anything about it.

MS is a business, not your angry parent.

The reason they didn't let everyone just keep the points, is because from their perspective, they can salvage the situation a little bit. If you spent the points? Oh well, that's a loss. What would banning your tag do? What would charging you do, besides creating a horrible legal situation.

Imagine if Best Buy sent you a giftcard in the mail. It had 100.00 on it. You spent the 100.00. Then Best Buy says, "Oh, that was a mistake, so we're going to charge you."

You can't do that.

Also, consider this. The majority of people on Live DON'T read sites like this. They probably looked at their account (if they were in the right place at the right time) and thought "Oh I got more points" or "I don't know how many I had before" and what happens then they spend them?

Fact is, the people trying to make people scared, are the ones upset because they didn't spend their points right away.

"If you received an unexpected deposit of MS points due to the server issues on your rewards program, then please know that we will not take back the contents that were purchased/redeemed using it. The MS points that were not used are retracted since you have not earned nor purchased the points."

That's what they told me in my emails with them.

Successful CAG is successful.

I think a main gripe here is the tweet from xboxsupport acknowledging what happened and stating everyone would get to keep the points they received. Even though this can't really be seen as an official MS source, many people took this as confirmation and decided to save their points for something they really wanted instead of spending just for the sake of blowing the hot points before MS took them away. I guess if anything this was a learning experience. If this ever happens again (which it probably won't), everyone knows to just go on a spending frenzy.

Once something is purchased on your account, there is no way for MS to take that off your account, period. Which is why they state "no refunds" because even is the purchase is a mistake or whatever, they might refund you or in this case not take action. However, the content will still be accessible and forever on your account. I still haven't gotten word as to why I was given exactly 300 msp but i'll take them glady.
If you go to http://rewards.xbox.com/ it should show (200msp, btw) under either pending or awarded. http://twitpic.com/65cqjm/full

Edit: My points only showed up after I contacted Xbox support. Whether they had to do something or it was just a coincidence, I can't say. Be ready to tell them what dates the games were purchased.
I got the 200 points, but I absolutely did not purchase two games in July- I bought "Fancy Pants Adventures" when it was on sale for 400 (and I can't even remember if that was July or August), and that was it. I don't think this is related to any of the other points issues people are having (plus, the points are still in my account), so, hey, 200 free points are 200 free points!

I had a feeling they'd take them back but since I only have 200 points before they gave me little overa thousand decided to buy some stuff. Got the voltron outfit and sword for my avatar. They took the points back eventually that were left over from it.
I usually don't buy avatar outfits but I just want to walk around as Voltron in Keflings. Too bad I can't use the swords on them.
Doing that would be just as bad as what they are apparently doing, and that's letting the (mostly, but not all) dishonest people who spent the points keep them...while punishing those who didn't.

What should they do? Probably just give all those who had the points taken away a free XBLA game or maybe a couple months of Gold and just call it even.
But then all the people who didn't get points will complain as well, saying that's it not fair that they didn't jack at all, while those who got something and either didnt spend it or got some points taken away get even more things.

Now I'm not saying that this whole debacle is theft of any kind but an analogy would be like if someone stole something they wanted from a store, and then complaining or going to the store to demand an exchange because the item sucked.

Now technically MS can do whatever they want with the points, it's in the TOS one signs while making an account (there was a thread a while back for something that had a similar issue). So if they take back points leftover or other points to counterbalance the problem, it's infuriating yes, but you did sign the agreement.

And this is yet another reason why twitter will destroy the integrity of companies, one person messes up and the entire company deals with the backlash.

Someone else said it best earlier.

It's like when MS accidentally puts an avatar item or DLC as FREE.
The people who managed to find out and download it got to keep it. The people that didn't, well, too bad.

MS does nothing. Just corrects the pricing error.
They don't back-charge ppl's credit cards, ban gamertags, or deduct points. Nothing.

If you missed out, stop whining and deal with it.

Seems like Microsoft changed their mind about the rewards glitch. My friend got a perma ban for Marketplace Theft last Friday. He is the most honest and nicest guy I know. And the only thing he is guilty of is being too naive thinking that those extra points he got through the rewards program were legit. Not everyone follows that stuff like we do here on CAG, so he spent the points. Now he got this email, which sounds exactly like the ban wave Microsoft started after people used the FIFA 10 glitch.

He already contacted the XBLPET but he only got a generic blah blah used fraudulent Microsoft Points statement. So now all his stuff, easily worth over $300, is gone. That's an awesome reward Microsoft. Makes me really glad I didn't join that program.

By the way neither the xbox Twitter support nor the phone support have the last say in it, only the XBLPET does.

They don't usually tell you when you get banned for something like theft. Something makes me think you or your friend are lying.
If they didn't ban the people duping the 160ms points, I highly doubt they would ban anyone for their own mistake.

He may have done something else or he's the only one. I haven't heard of anyone else getting banned out of the thousands.
in order to do promos do you have to buy the dlc off xbox.com or can you do it through your console? This program is ass at the very least 78% of the time.
You can buy it through xbox.com

But of all the people who have spent the points, this is the first we've heard about someone getting banned. Seems like there's more to the story. Your friend did something he's not telling you about, otherwise, half the people in this thread would have gotten the same notice.

Xbox Live Policy Enforcement Team doesn't hand out bans liberally, as bans are irreversible.

I guess this is your friend on the 'My Live account was suspended' forum since it is the only post since Friday (when they were banned) in relation to 'Marketplace Theft'.

Quite worrying for those who did use their points due to Microsoft's own mistake, if true. Although the post doesn't explicitly mention the Xbox Rewards fiasco, your friend isn't as honest as you say, XBLPET Lima said that (s)he modded their avatar.

Nope, that's not him. I think his mom would have a hard time contacting the XBLPET since she died a long time ago.

And if that avatar thing is reason enough to get suspended, half of all CAGs would have to worry to get banned for the countless Banshee / Carrot Mascot avatar exploit codes that are floating around everywhere.

Besides, it seems that forum is just a giant pillory to use offenders as a public warning to every other xbox live user.

Like bh47 already said, the banns seem to be irreversible and judging from the posts in that forum the XBLPET is untouchable.

That wouldn't be a reason to be suspended. From reading that link, he modded his avatar in someway. That's a big no no.

Then, from what I could see, there were no other posts relating 'Marketplace Theft' since Friday on the forum, which raises my scepticism.

Avatar modding is using an external program to change the colour of your avatar's skin, which is against the terms and services of Xbox Live. Using codes from legitimate sites that are freely giving avatar items, such as the Banshee and Carrot props, are not 'exploit codes' and are nothing to do with avatar modding.

I love reading that forum.

"Why was my 10 year old son's account banned, I pay good money for this!"

"He had "(expletive) can eat (expletive) and (expletive) out of my (expletive) (expletive) (expletive) while I (expletive) your (expletive) family (expletive) (expletive) and you watch and send me 1600MSP," in his profile."

I was hit with the glitched points and I am not banned, so something else is up.

That forum is full of great stuff. I think my personal favorite is the parent inquiring as to why his/her son was banned and then being told that it was because he exposed himself on UNO. Classic.

link to story/thread?

The people being banned for "Marketplace Theft" are not being banned because of the XBL Rewards fiasco. They are instead being banned for taking advantage of the "Non-Jtag" exploit where you would use a modified secondary account to play XBLA games and DLC for free.

Ah, that would make sense.

Also, for those who want to check out fairly funny stuff from the Microsoft law enforcement team in regards to guilty people being banned, check out http://whywasibanned.com/, its good reading.

Do you have a source for that?

Logged into the Rewards site and it gave an option to opt out...

Rewards for Sept. look terrible.

20 Survey
80 buy two avatar items
100 Netflix first activation
100 first purchase

looks like the September offer is "Purchase any 2 Avatar items or more in September and get 80 Points back."

not useful to me but I'm sure people who buy avatar gear will appreciate it.

edit: I'm not as fast as Scholarly_Sam lol
So if I buy two avatar items that are 40 MSP, I essentially get them for free?
If that works I might do it just to get my 60 pending points out.
If that works I might do it just to get my 60 pending points out.
I don't see why anyone would not do this deal if this is the case. I'm sure I can find some sunglasses on the avatar marketplace or something.

I purchased 1600 points worth of DLC in August, but the 160 points isn't showing up as pending for my account. Was this the case with anyone else?
So if I buy two avatar items that are 40 MSP, I essentially get them for free?
not too much for 40 points but picking up 2 80 point items for essentially buy 1 get 1 free isn't half bad either, if you're into that sort of thing.

There are some 40 point gloves also. Probably a fair few random things floating around.

The thing is, even if it's effectively free, I just really don't care at all about it. But for those who take joy in exploiting the system to get free useless stuff...have fun, don't let me bring you down.

I enjoy free useless stuff. ;)

Does anyone know of a complete list of avatar items with prices? I'd like to see what my 40msp options are.

that's kinda sweet...I think I'll get something cheap and something I'd want and call it an 80 ms point discount. no sense is getting avatar gear I won't even want to wear.

What I've been able to come up with so far. A lot more than I thought, actually. Mostly sunglasses and wristbands though. I'll edit with more. Too much work to type out what each one is, but hover over the link and you'll be able to tell, as the name of the avatar item is in the link. I will organize it later by category.

I noticed along the way that there are a lot of school wristbands. I stopped posting them after a while, but it's safe to assume that if there's any decent-size college you support, there's probably a 40 point wristband for them.

They won't show up right away. I believe they get posted around the 15th of the next month. They should show up around Sept 15th and it may be as late as the 20th.

I've been doing the monthly surveys for like 3 months I still haven't gotten any points. Is there a threshold you have to meet? Anyone know the contact email to complain?
