The main reason why I bought this damn thing was to have a central location to store media. Its so convient and has so many benefits. All of my PCs and roomate's laptop can now share our photos and music. BUT, the damn 360 won't recognize it! Ive tried locating the media through a windows based PC with the 360, but that still doesn't work.
I love being able to stream media to my 360
Doesn't microsoft know that NAS or media servers are becoming more common everyday? Pretty soon households are only going to have client-sever networks.
I have read about some special apps you can use on Linux computers, but those are linux servers...I just have a simple harddrive attached to my network. I guess I could of went for the all out server, but those are a bit more complex, loud and consume way more power. My little nas can serve the same features while being slient and consuming little power.
I assume since this WD NAS does have some kind of OS on it, I could find another to install where the 360 may recognize it, but where and how do I go about doing that?
Any thoughts, suggestions....anything cags. Its truly depressing to spend money on a technology, get it to work great with all the computers and then have your 360 (that benefits the most from it) say no to it.
