[quote name='JMEPO']AnEnergyDrink?... badass.[/quote]

actually, i think i have a better name, call it Full Throttle.

because that can be taken two different ways
as an energy drink, or as a sexual innuendo.

ok, i'm trying to make a signature, and am not used to the forum rules here.

i keep getting these errors.

The following errors occurred when this message was submitted:
  1. Your signature contains too many lines and must be shortened. You may only have up to 1 line(s).
  2. BB code size value is too big.

what should i do?

[quote name='PleasantOne']Random generators are always fun ;)

I (personally) would avoid weird spelling... it's just too hard for people to remember, and it looks kinda silly. I think the best gamertags are obscure and weird references to stuff - games or otherwise.

Just have a lot of ideas ready. I think I tried 15-20 different things, which were all taken, before I settled on Lasagna Fairy. That included some weird stuff where I was thinking, "Ok, there's no way anyone will have this o.... you have GOT to be kidding me!" :p[/QUOTE]

Lasagna fairy! That is an awsome gamertag. Hahaha that just so great.

I have a NAT question. My NAT goes between open and moderate randomly.

I have a static IP set up and the 3 ports I needed are open UDP 88, UDP 3074 and TCP 3074.

Am I missing anything else I need to keep the NAT open?

EDIT: I noobed out there for a minute and didn't fully read the OP. I posted this in Pimpinc's thread.

How long does it usually take for new episodes of TV shows to show up on Live?

Is there a set time, or do they just do it randomly? I'm assuming that it's less than a week, since last week's episode was already there yesterday, I was just looking for something a little more specific than that.

Thanks.

I'm wondering if there are any 3rd party guitar controllers for Guitar Hero that are more like the Rock Band guitar, size wise (and button wise would be great, too, but I think that's too much to ask)? I'd really like to pick up Guitar Hero II on 360, but I absolutely hate the GH guitars. Now that I'm used to the Rock Band guitar, the GH ones feel like they're made for little kids...

Do you get the reference? I keep hoping someone will... anyone... but I think I'm the only one =))

Often i stream music or movies straight from my pc to my 360 so i can play them on a bigger screen and w/ surround sound. This has worked fine for the past yr or so but all of a sudden i turn on the 360 today and i cannot connect to my pc to view my files.

I run the test media connection test several times and it fails at the "pc selected" step. From there it gives me the info to make sure that windows media player is set to allow sharing to the 360 (which obviously it is) and lists several ports to leave open (which they are).

So i call MS support and of course they are no help and just tell me to call Linksys saying it has to be the router's fault, which im sure its not bc i can connect to XBL just fine...just not to my PC thats on the same network.

I havent turned on the 360 in probably 2 wks but no changes have been made to my pc other than changing out my cpu...but that shouldnt cause any problems i wouldnt think.

Im really confused as to what the problem could be and i would appreciate any thoughts on what could be the problem

So when you go into Windows Media Player, it has a green check mark next to your 360 to share media to? Make sure the folders where you put videos and music and whatnot are being monitored as well.

Also, go into the network and sharing center on your PC and make sure "Media Sharing" and so forth is on.

Can't think of why it would suddenly not show up...

Anything I can do about it other than buy a new one? I've only had it for 7 months or so and it just loses its charge when it's off. A battery shouldn't do this, or should it?

[quote name='aniousjoe']it does, because they controller stays in a low-powered state when off. best idea is to just remove the battery during uses[/quote]

Losing the entire charge? Erm... I have never had that happen.

I do have it allowed for sharing, and it has worked perfectly in the past but all of a sudden it doesnt work now. I looked on xbox.com forums and found several threads about it and i tried lots of the fixes but to no avail. Heres a link to those threads if anyone else has had this problem. Also, if anyone else has any other ideas why i cant get my 360 to acknowledge my pc please let me know.

What happens to all the Marketplace content you've purchased when you want to sell your 360? Can it be redownloaded at a later point in time? DO you have to keep the hard drive?

[quote name='Matt Young']Change your renewal options.[/QUOTE]

Won't let me, I have to call in.

Funny thing, the service rep suggested that I give my account to someone else, isn't that violation of there TOS?

This might be an obvious question, but did you install anything (or did MS update anything) on your computer between the last time it worked and it not working?

I'm just wondering if MS could have updated WMP and screwed something up...

You might try another media streaming program, even if it's just for kicks to see if it works. I use TVersity and am happy with it.

I was wondering if anyone here ever had the same problem I'm having. I got Fable: Lost Chapters and had no problem running it in my 360, that is, until recently. The system recognizes the game, and it runs, but the wireless controller doesn't work, save for the jewel button. I have a fully-updated system, tried all of MS's recommended fixes, and even deleted my file, thinking it was corrupt or something, yet nothing works. Anyone else have this problem or have any suggestions? I'd purchase the XBL version, but it's the non-Lost Chapters version. Thanks!

The main reason why I bought this damn thing was to have a central location to store media. Its so convient and has so many benefits. All of my PCs and roomate's laptop can now share our photos and music. BUT, the damn 360 won't recognize it! Ive tried locating the media through a windows based PC with the 360, but that still doesn't work.

I love being able to stream media to my 360

Doesn't microsoft know that NAS or media servers are becoming more common everyday? Pretty soon households are only going to have client-sever networks.

I have read about some special apps you can use on Linux computers, but those are linux servers...I just have a simple harddrive attached to my network. I guess I could of went for the all out server, but those are a bit more complex, loud and consume way more power. My little nas can serve the same features while being slient and consuming little power.

I assume since this WD NAS does have some kind of OS on it, I could find another to install where the 360 may recognize it, but where and how do I go about doing that?

Any thoughts, suggestions....anything cags. Its truly depressing to spend money on a technology, get it to work great with all the computers and then have your 360 (that benefits the most from it) say no to it.

You need Windows Media Player to function as a halfassed middleman.

Theoretically you could compile Windows Media Player's library from your network drive and then pass it onto your 360 from there. You might have a shot with that method.

maybe I am too tired to understand completely what you mean. If I open wmp from a computer, you will see a library full of files. You would think that since my computer can see the library then the xbox could see that computer which can see the files and there woulf be no problem as long as I had that computer running. This scenario would be okay (still having to have a pc on), but it doesn't work.

Drives me nuts that everything MUST me microsoft related to function.

I just ordered an xbox from the amazon warehouse. They told me that it has the full warranty, but there was some problems with the item and some other issues, but its all ok now and its been shippd. But how can I tell/know if I have the full warranty on it, 3 yr rrod. Its was a damaged box item and I was told that the 360 itself was not tampered with.

[quote name='CAG 79']Question: If I have a memory card, do I need a data migration cable?[/quote]

[quote name='CAG 79']Anyone?[/quote]You only need the migration cable for transferring files from the 20GB to 120GB HDD.

Hey i just turned on my 360 this morning and there was a new dashboard update.
Anybody know what was added? because as far as i can tell i didn't see anything new.
maybe just a few small software tweaks.

According to Major Nelson

A few minutes ago, the team released a system update for the Xbox 360 over Xbox LIVE. Sometime over the next few hours when you sign in to Xbox LIVE you’ll recieve a prompt to accept this mandatory update. This update contains code to ‘prepare for future growth of the service.’ There are no other changes or enhancements in this update…in other words no new features. The next obvious question you’ll have is about the Spring update. At this point we have nothing to announce, and the moment there is information to share I will do so.

TRITTON AX360 Coaxial & Fiber Optic Connector Circumaural True 5.1 Digital Audio Gaming Headphones

hey, i know i'm going to sound like an idiot but how do you connect these headphones to your 360? I haven't bought them yet and would like to know how they work before spending $100. Do they connect to the TV or 360 or both? Do i need an adaptor for my 360? I use a HDMI cable and still have the component cables too. I remember another connection device that came with the 360 but i might of disposed of it. Does anyone know what the optical port is? The manufacturers website mentions this. Thanks for any help CAGS.

I know, the problem is that when my old 360 crapped out, I sold the system but I kept the hard drive. Fast foward to the present, I got an Elite now and I want to transfer my data over to the 120GB drive but the Data Migration form requires that you have the serial number of your old console in order for them to send you one which I no longer have. That's why I was wondering if I could just use the memory card to transfer my saves and profile and just redownload my XBL games and updates.

thats a good price. i also have a set of these.

you connect using the optical cable. so either you can hook them up directly to the optical out on the 360 or you can hook it up to your receiver...

if you're using HDMI, either you need to get the extra addon that allows optical out (sucks, i know) or you could hack your component cable box (which just means you have to take the plastic molding off. here it is

commenting on the headphones, they're really great. i ilke them alot and don't use speakers anymore. you can really tell which direction sounds are coming from. it's saved my butt a few times in COD4

oh and if you're concerned about length, the cable is like 15 feet long. should be long enough from tv to couch.

Thanks!

Was wondering what the update was for.

How's the voice chat volume though? For games like COD4, I have to turn the in-game volume slider way down, then turn my headphone speakers way up to hear voices. I know that the X3's don't have this problem since their headset functions like a combo, but from what I've heard, the Tritons are pretty much like wearing headphones for sound, then wearing the headset around your neck to talk.

[quote name='buzzcola']The head set works when i plug it in to the remote but it doesn't work when i plug it in to the chat pad

any ideas?[/quote]

I had the same problem...I ended up returning the chat pad...I tried two chatpads...sucks

I just got my 360 from amazon today, and like they told me its new, but the box was damaged. Now I am over 99% sure it is new, but is there any way to confirm that it is new and not a refurb or if the warranty is still there, by looking at the console? I guess i can call microsoft too. All of the items inside the box were bagged, I opened them all an inspected them, all fine, look perfect. As does the console itself.
