Really? Thanks, I am gonna pick one up tomorrow probably. My brother went to Walmart on Arizona and Chandler and they had a bunch also. Hopefully I can find a falcon. Maybe I will see you on CoD4 if you play that. :D
Yeah I will play it as soon as my Brother in law lets me borrow it hehe. :)

Add me to your friends list if you want.
Is it possible for a 360 to get the red rings of death because its too cold, and needs time to warmup? Ever since it came out of the box, I've gotten the rings everytime I start it up. Its fine after I restart it once or twice though. I've checked all the plugs and cables, and I still get the rings.
Is it three red rings or one? If it is just one then sometimes that hapens to my 360 but I just restart it a few times and it is fine.

I get the one ring e74 error every 5 start ups or so since I got my last console from MS last December.

Can someone help me set up the D-Link DGL 3420 gaming adapter over Xbox Live?

I have a:

Buffalo Wireless G Mimo Performance router WHR-HP-G54

D-Link DGL 3420 gaming adapter

Xbox 360

Please Help :(
the original black xbox wifi bridge works and can be found for $30 or less
yep yep i have no problems with it

Its three rings, not one, that I get everytime I start my 360.
I got it working!!!

If you're in the same situation and need help setting it up, just ask me. I'll help.
how do you set it up with a 360?
how do you set it up with a 360?
Pretty sure that's the same one I have. If that's the case, just plug it in via ethernet in the rear port on the 360. Search for wireless networks using the 360's menu, and enter in your network settings (access key and name of network). Should work just fine.

I recall there being a small flyer in the box specifically giving directions for Xbox use. Not sure if it mentioned 360 use.

Maybe someone can help me. I think something might be wrong with my wireless adaptor. It seems to "turn off"(aka become disconnected from the 360) quite a bit. Like I have to unplug it and plug it back in at least once or twice a gaming session. Which I think causes my 360 to freeze on occassion(I notice it mainly happens when I am looking at my friends list/messages on live).
Tried rebooting your router/modem?

Firmware update on your router?
I havent, but I just bought the router last weekend, and the problem has been ongoing since I installed it. Also my PS3 has no problems online.

Bumping my question since I didn't see it answered yet. Maybe I should have just made my own topic on it, but I figured a mod would have just moved it to this thread anyway.
Anyone know if I can make the Turtlebeach X2 headset be just a headset (so in game music isnt heard) or of any way of altering the sound level for the in game sound or the voice chat sound? It's really pissing me off that I can't use this for Halo 3 since I can't hear anybody with the headset thanks to no in game audio options in Halo 3.

Another option, though I'd rather not go this route, would be to buy a headset that had separate volume controls for in game sound and voice chat. I had the X3 but I did not like the open mic feature since it made a hissing sound that you could not get rid of.

Any help is greatly appreciated as I'd love to enjoy Halo 3 online. BTW I know I could just use the mic that comes with the 360, but the sound comes in way too low on that headset, even with all the options maxed.
I had issues with my router. To install the D-Link Gaming Adapter, type 192.168.0.25 as the IP Address and then on a web browser, type 192.168.0.30 to access the D-Link adapter. Remember to switch back to the original IP Address when you've finished installing the gaming adapter into the router. Just ask me if you have any specific questions.

So, I'm getting my new Halo 3 360 next Thursday. I went through all 37 pages of this topic, but I have just have a couple of questions about accessories and such.

1.) From what I've gathered, the original MN-740 Xbox Wireless Bridge would work with the 360. However, I've been wanting to up the security protocol on my router from WEP to WPA2. It looks like the "black box" won't support that, even after I updated the firmware, correct? I would have to go 3rd-party for that, correct?

2.) It seems that the consensus is that the snap-on coolers aren't guaranteed to stave off RROD. Still, I'm all for any advantage I can get. Can someone recommend one, even though they don't like them? (Keep in mind, I plan on using an HDMI-to-DVI connection.)

Any help is greatly appreciated.

In that case there aren't any good cooling devices, Just put your 360 in a place where it can get lots of air circulation. It should be horizontal too.

Is there an easy way of having the same gamer profile on two different 360s? Essentially, my aim is to be able to play games on my main 360 and then be able to switch over and play for a bit on the other.

I tried the recover Gamertag option, but everytime I do that, the other console's GT has to get recovered again and it takes me nearly 30 minutes to get everything back. Has anyone tried the memory card route? Is that instantaneous?

Edit: Also, is it possible to reset GamerScore for a game to re-earn them?

I have a 360 and a Windows XP, non-MCE desktop, HDTV capture card, and 100mb wired ethernet. I capture HD without problem on the PC but want to use the 360 as a media extender to watch hd that I have recorded. Ideally, I'd watch the stream live (time-shift), but I think I need MCE to do so.

Okay, here's the question: Does anyone have a setup that lets them watch HD recordings on their 360 without MCE? What do you use? I tried using WatchHDTV which records ms-dvr but it looks like WMP11 doesn't share video it considers "recorded TV" so .ts might be the same problem.

What I've learned so far:
The xbox 360 is a UPnP (Universal Plug n Play) streaming client. If you run a server, you can decode content. I've found a few servers available but, by and large, none will do what I want.

Windows Media Connect 2.0 - Only streams pictures and music. (I could not get WMV streaming to work and other reports seem to confirm this

Windows Media Player 11 - Streams pictures, music and video however it *only* streams WMV video. You can maybe use the Zune version of the player to stream Mpeg4 or h.264

The Windows MCE "Server" is not a UPnP server at all. Instead it sends the program code to the 360 over the network as part of the launch bootstrap and then (pressumably) has the code to playback ms-dvr (a/k/a protected mpeg-2/.ts) data.

So the only solution at present is to transcode as far as I can tell, and I'm pretty sure TVersity or the like will be unable to transcode the HD stream in real-time.

As Bender would say, I'm boned...

Anyone else able to add something here?

Thanks all!

You might want to go the memory card route but I don't know if putting your profile on a memory card causes your XBLA Games to not work offline, So I would like to know about that.

So here is my question:

If you copy your profile onto a memory card does it make your XBLA Games inoperable offline?
windows media center 2.0
I think you meant Windows Media Connect 2.0 (google helped figure that out). WMP11 didn't work for me, but uninstalling WMP11 and going with WMC2.0 did work to get my 360 to see my PC. Unfortunately, it doesn't see the .ms-dvr files in the folder ... any tips on that front? Should I be recording to a different format?

Update: Windows Media Connect 2.0 will stream pictures and audio not video. Apparently I need to go back to WMP11... ugh.

I am encountering a problem when streaming video to my 360. I like to stream my online class to it, it's a .wmv file, about 250MB, and only a resolution of about 320x240. The problem is that sometimes it will start to chug a bit, and if I pause, it messes up the video to where it becomes unresponsive. Anyone else here encountering any of these problems when streaming videos?
windows media player 11 will do it....
Do you have experience setting this up by chance? I'm getting dangerously close to giving up...

last time I tried to do this, I fucked up my video codecs really bad to beyond fixing :(

It's not worth it if your 360 is hooked up to your dual input monitor (VGA/DVI) and both your pc and 360 are next to each other.

I'd believe that in a heartbeat, the codec situation is a real mess -- for me, the 360 is downstairs and the PC is upstairs so it's not quite that easy. The motivation for such a configuration is pretty clear too as the 360 is already hooked up to the TV, controlled by remote and has plenty of horsepower.

Ultimately though, even with the new dashboard update, it seems MS isn't interested in allowing you to stream video you're obtaining legally if you're not buying it from them (that is, by recording it yourself).

Notice MPEG2 remains a MCE-only feature.

Ah well, that was fun. Time to find MCE for under $100...

you have to be in .wmv format right now for it to work....

but if you wait till tomorrow (fall update) you can stream xvid and divx

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately hdtv is sent from the broadcasters in MPEG2 so the only way to stream that stream to the xbox 360 is to use MCE. Transcoding the MPEG2 to divx/wmv is an option, but not a very good one.

I have a general question about the 360 and it's HD drive... I should probably know the answer to both...

what are the upconversion stats when viewing a regular DVD on a 1080p HDTV, through HDMI?

if anyone knows or can direct me to where to find such info, I would be thankful.... thanks

Repeat.

im getting sick of having to buy new packs of AA batteries every other month or so. was wondering what you guys think is the BEST rechareable battery packs to get.

theres that quick charge kit, im not sure if its just that recharger only or if it includes some pakcs too.

then theres the plug and charge kit where its the battery pack and the cord to charge it.

and theres the 360 charge station. where it comes with 2 packs and the base to charge them.

im not sure if there are any more, but what do you guys use if you use it and why is it the best.

i jus bought some recharable radio shack batterys. there alright( had no idea rechargble batterys were so expensive, cost me 21 sumthin)

I second the MS Play-and-Charge kit. Took forever to charge the first (and only) time I've charged it, and I managed to beat Assassin's Creed and play about twelve or thirteen hours of Mass Effect, and it's still got three bars of power (out of four) on the dashboard screen.

I bought a MS play and charge kit last week and love it. The cord that's included is about the length of your standard controller cord, so unless you're playing in your living room or some other big space you're not really tethered down while it's charging. Plus being able to play it while it's charging is a big plus.

The only negative side to it is the 360's fans will keep running while it's charging, so if you absolutely hate the sound of your 360 running or have multipal wireless devices you might want to pick up the charge station.

You don't have to plug it into your 360 to keep it charged, though. I noticed that too and thought, "Wait...I don't wanna shorten the life of my 360 to charge this..." Then I remembered it was a USB port, plugged it into my laptop, and it charged just fine. Should work fine on an iPod charger, too.

Pretty huge if, but if you have a costco membership, they have the Sanyo Eneloop rechargables (which are pretty close to the best rechargables you can buy right now) $26 buys you 8 AAs, 4 AAs, a charger and 2 C and 2 D "adapters" that let you use AAs as either Cs or Ds. They're great, especially if you have other devices in the house that take batters (a Wii for example)

so i think i have to replace my controller...
unless someone knos a way to fix it

im using the black wireless controller that came with the elite ive changed multple battries at full power and have connected multiple times and my controller still randomly disconnects whenever im using my 360 :bomb::bomb::bomb:

So I just bought my girlfriend a 360 about 2 weeks ago and I've noticed that when I've been playing the controller seems to not vibrate when it should. At first I thought it was the controller itself, but this happened two more times with two other controllers, which leads me to believe that it's the console.

For instance I'll be using the battle rifle and fire a few rounds and it'll stop vibrating while I'm shooting. Anyone else had something like this happen?

I don't quite follow you, why do you think it's the console when the same controller is still giving you problems? Why don't you try getting another controller and using it for a while, and if it happens again then it's the console.

I haven't heard of this happening before.

Sounds like a controller malfunction. I kind of doubt that if there was something wrong with your console's USB ports that the Rumble function would be the only thing affected.

However I've had my USB ports randomly just shut off during the middle of gameplay when I'm charging my controllers, it's weird.
