Is this a first? A videogame movie made for TV? I'll start watching out of curiosity and see where it goes. It stars Val Kilmer and Stephen Dorff. It's on NBC this Sunday at 9/8c and concludes next Sunday at 9/8c.

Aww, I was kinda hoping for some rotoscoped animation á la- Scanner Darkly.
XIII? What an odd choice.
It was a solid game, the story was just okay. David Duchovny couldn't voice act very well though.

This.

I will still watch it, but that kind of sucks.

The game's story was awesome, but yeah, Duchovny was just so-so as a voice actor for the character. The game was awesome. I loved every minute of it. I wish there would be a sequel, but I don't think that will ever happen:cry:

Kilmer and Dorff co-starred in Felon.

That's kinda weird.

yeah, that movie was gangsta thoe.

Hopefully this will at least make up for the cliffhanger of the game. I too loved the game and was mad because by the time I played it, I knew there wasn't going to be a sequel.

What a steal by NBC! Who would of thunk to make a made for television movie based on a game that bombed in 2003.

That being said, I'll watch it.

*EDIT* disregard, I am full of fail

Thanks, OP, I had no idea there was a show based on this!
100 Bullets, the comic series the game is based off of, has plenty of great stories.

I'm not sure why you think XIII has anything to do with 100 Bullets but they are totally unrelated. The name of the comic series that the game and mini-series are based on is XIII http://www.amazon.com/XIII-Day-Blac...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1234078849&sr=1-1

It's aggravating that all the comic graphic novels that I want to read are so expensive. Makes me wish I hadn't collected so much Spiderman and Image crap as a kid - if I had had any taste I'd have a fortune by now!

I agree, but I never had too much trouble with Duchovny. IMO his voice had a slightly drugged, spaced-out quality that perfectly matched the surreal story.

OP you're the man. Thanks for the link, this is perfect for some TV background while I prep for the week.

I like it so far.

Suprisingly I think the "President's room" talk is more authentic then 24. I'm getting a little tired of how on 24 the president never mentions politics. In that vein it's fun to juxtapose "West Wing" with 24, it's a funny coincidence that West Wing was an NBC show while 24 is on Fox.

Wait -so he hacks in to the CIA days at an internet cafe after the freaking President is killed and they investigate but don't park an agent outside the cafe? If they were going to do Keystone Kops they should have made the initial target someone smaller.

I can suspend my disbelief only so far...

Yeah, I got bored and stopped watching at about 10:20. It's not horrible but I have Gangs of New York waiting to be watched so since I haven't seen it since theatrical it wins.

I picked up the PC version of XIII from EB's site back before they merged with Gamestop and had tons of good deals on PC games. It was only $5 or so and it came with a $10 off code for their website. It's the only game where the store paid me to take it.

I still haven't played it yet.
And the reviews are... http://www.aintitcool.com/node/40038 Painfully bad!
The reviews are painfully bad? You're right.

a hollow piece of work, with only a tad more character and spirit than a video game.

This first half of the mini-series was surprisingly good.

Well, a few forgivable movie cliche flaws here and there that require some suspension of disbelief (ok a LOT of suspension of disbelief in some parts), but they kept the tension tight and they had the right atmosphere throughout. It was a bit slow and choppy in the beginning (after he was Nailin' Palin :bouncy: ), but it pulled off enough quality to match Bourne...for a TV movie.

For a TV movie based on a videogame. That's impressive.
I heard the game was based on a comic. Confirmed?
Are you sure? I thought that merely here say and rumor?;)
Anybody know if this is up on hulu or will be?
I'm going to check every now and then.

Hulu would be great for this kind of stuff.

I missed it. and even if it was bad, I'd like to see it.
