So before anyone says anything about how speeding is bad or whatever, I'd just like to point out that I'm one of those annoying people that all the older people hate. I speed (really speed), I tailgate if someone decides to change into the passing lane and drive slower than the speed limit (why the heck are you going to change into the leftmost lane to drive 45?????), I'm currently ricing out my car, etc.
I'm one of those dumb kids on the freeway, hehe.
So last Sunday, I was driving back from Portland (decided to start an 11 hour drive at 9 PM...) and a little south of Portland, my radar detector starts going off. It's an X band, which are usually falses, but since the 4 lane freeway was completely open around me, I started to slow down anyway. Of course, since there were no other cars around, I was basically screwed when I saw the cop sitting there; I was going around 95 in a 50 mph zone and only slowed down to around 80 before the cop caught me. He clocked me at 83. Since I have a dark tint and this was at night, I knew he couldn't see me through the back. I grabbed my radar detector and threw it underneath my seat. Then when I rolled down the window, I made up some story about how I never speed because I know how dangerous it is, how I'm not used to this car so I didn't know it would speed up so quickly, how I'm so sorry, and I put my head in my hands and pretended to cry (no tears came out). The officer ended up trying to console me saying things like, "It's okay, I'm just going to give you a warning. Calm down, take a deep breath before going back out on the road okay?" I'm not that good at fake crying since I can't force the tears to come out but it got me out of a $242 ticket. Stupid Oregon was filled with cops that night/morning because it was Memorial Day; why the heck are there so many officers out in areas with no exits and no lights? Once I hit California, I saw no one at all and drive around 100 home, hehe.
So earlier today, I didn't notice a cop was eyeing my car and I got pulled over for my dark tint. This isn't that big of a deal to me because it's just a fix-it ticket but hey, I'm a poor college student and $80 is a lot of money to me. When he asked me about my windows, I said the first thing that I could think of: that the car belonged to my younger brother, that I didn't know the tint was illegal, and that I was gonna kick his ass when I got home. I told him that I'd definately get the tint removed and apologized because I didn't know anything about cars. The logical thing he should have done is write me a fix it ticket anyway because if I was really being honest, I would have the tint removed and I wouldn't have to pay anything but nope, he let me go.
I definately like being an Asian girl. And since I just posted this, I'm going to get a ticket the next time I'm in my car, just watch.
