CAGiversary!
I've been trying to sell some stuff for a while on Craigslist. I picked up a Compaq Laptop (~$400 new) and a 360 Elite w/Fallout 3, Too Human, and wireless adaptor for $350. I kept the 360 Elite and the laptop for now, and tried to turn around and sell my 360 Pro 20gb. You wouldn't believe what I go through with this thing.
I know there are better deals, but I'm selling a perfect, no issues (never had an issue) xbox 360 Pro 20GB, with both games mentioned above, controller, all wires, original box, paperwork, AND receipt (really, who else has that with their box? Purchased in 05/08 which means it's still under warranty!). I have listed it for a few different thing. W/wireless card for $240, W/O wireless for $200, W/O games for $180. Trade for a PS3, trade for a Wii, whatever.
I get 2 or 3 emails a day on these things, but not a single person has followed through. My favorites are the 3 different guys who are trying to trade me paintball guns that range in value from $180 to $1100 apparently, though I know nothing about paintball aside from using rented equipment and shortly owning a Tippman that someone else customized. I also remember it being too expensive to interest me further. I also get these people who want to trade, set up times to test equipment and just don't bother to show up.
My new rule with this or anything in the future is that the buyer has to give me a call an hour before our meeting, otherwise I am not guaranteeing I'll be there. I have never been a dead beat buyer. I email anyone and everyone. I even email people back to tell them that I appreciated doing business with them, refuse their offer, or answer any and all questions.
Craigslist is the greatest, but most frustrating thing ever!
There you go. Give your phone # and tell them you won't talk to them again until they call you. It cuts out the crap quickly...
