Yet More Craigslist Stupidity!
I've been trying to sell some stuff for a while on Craigslist. I picked up a Compaq Laptop (~$400 new) and a 360 Elite w/Fallout 3, Too Human, and wireless adaptor for $350. I kept the 360 Elite and the laptop for now, and tried to turn around and sell my 360 Pro 20gb. You wouldn't believe what I go through with this thing.

I know there are better deals, but I'm selling a perfect, no issues (never had an issue) xbox 360 Pro 20GB, with both games mentioned above, controller, all wires, original box, paperwork, AND receipt (really, who else has that with their box? Purchased in 05/08 which means it's still under warranty!). I have listed it for a few different thing. W/wireless card for $240, W/O wireless for $200, W/O games for $180. Trade for a PS3, trade for a Wii, whatever.

I get 2 or 3 emails a day on these things, but not a single person has followed through. My favorites are the 3 different guys who are trying to trade me paintball guns that range in value from $180 to $1100 apparently, though I know nothing about paintball aside from using rented equipment and shortly owning a Tippman that someone else customized. I also remember it being too expensive to interest me further. I also get these people who want to trade, set up times to test equipment and just don't bother to show up.

My new rule with this or anything in the future is that the buyer has to give me a call an hour before our meeting, otherwise I am not guaranteeing I'll be there. I have never been a dead beat buyer. I email anyone and everyone. I even email people back to tell them that I appreciated doing business with them, refuse their offer, or answer any and all questions.

Craigslist is the greatest, but most frustrating thing ever!
There you go. Give your phone # and tell them you won't talk to them again until they call you. It cuts out the crap quickly...
Had some guy interested on tuesday in some PS1 games I wanna unload. Said it was "late" and would come tomorrow (wednesday). Asked for my address and number and said he will call when he's on his way. No call. No email. Not a soul shows up. What's funny he gave his number. I should prank call it.

Or sign "Jacob's MAO" email up for some viagra spam.
Yea I get a lot of no shows on craigslist. CL is good when it works but sometimes can get really frustrating.

The chinese spammers are on my craigslist now too, offering some funny engrish:

"if your spending more than $500 , we offer 32gb ipod touch for free,if your spending more than $1000, we offer 16gb iphone for free, the more your spending, the more great worth free gift waiting for you to come and collect"

Me: I offer you "X" for the console and games.
Them: Well, PhantomEmailOfferer offered me "Y" for it, and ULTRARAREGAME isn't in MINT condition, it's in POOR condition.
Me: Okay, thank you for your time.
Them: Well, (I guess they love me or something) I can sell it to you for "X."
Me: fuck in a nice way.
-----------------------------------
What about the great offer from PhantomEmailOfferer?? You don't know either of us... take more money.
Of course, there was never a PhantomEmailOffer!!! If you want people to bid on your stuff, put it on ebay.
Actually, I guess there was a mixup in the communication during this conversation... she/he actually thought I was offering $60 for a Super Nintendo console that was "missing the cords" with only "1 controller that isn't falling apart." fuckfuck
That's right ... fuck you twice!!!

Anyone post ads on Craigslist get really stupid questions thinking you're offering way more than you have listed?

Like if you're selling 25 baseball cards of SUPER AWESOME PLAYER for $50 and someone asks if the $150 rookie card is part of that lot.

Or if you're selling the complete Rock Band 2 bundle with instruments for $75 and someone asks if the $300 PlayStation 3 comes with it.

I think we have the winner for the week!!!!

I really hate people that don't include the fucking controller and wires into the price of the system. Its not like its a damn car or computer that you're parting out.

"durrr...$100 for the system, but thats just the system. If you want the controller, that'll be another $20, and if you want to, ya' know, connect the system to your TV, that'll be another $25."

Get the fuck out of here.

Googling his number, he was also selling a Gamecube. The ad is gone now, so you have to wonder if he tried to sell it the same way.

Also, not a terrible deal by any stretch of the imagination, but boy does this make me feel good about the score I had earlier in the year which was for a Virtual Boy complete in box with every single US Virtual Boy release complete in box as well, for $80 or $100 I think it was. A couple of the games are still sealed too, and most of the rest have the original factory plastic around the boxes.

EDIT: Ah, here's my original score post. It was $100...I remember trying to talk him down but couldn't even get him to meet me halfway at $80. But it did come with every US release including Waterworld and that other uber rare one, Jack Bros. I think it's called.

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/vgm/1505176575.html

Well, it's time to let go of something that has been a collectible of mine for some time. I am selling my Virtual boy with 5 games.
The games are:

Virtual League Baseball
Red Alarm
Mario Tennis
V-Tetris
Telero Boxer

It also includes the unit, the eye cover, stand, and an ac adapter. Works great, and all of the games are really fun to play, especially the boxing game and Tetris. This is Nintendo's first 3d gaming system released in 1994. I am asking $100, but will take the best offer I receive. Email in response to this post, or call me at 818-641-1433 if you would like this piece of gaming history. Thanks!

I don't know much about baseball card values but from what I've heard alot of them that were made in the earrl 90's late 80's are worthless except for burning.

Speaking of the Chinese scammer's Engrish, LOVE this one..."the best gift will be gaven as gift" HAHAHAHA. These assclown are almost as adept at the King's English as the Nigerians:

Anyone ever put something up for sale on Craigslist and someone e-mails you using their WORK E-MAIL ADDRESS with full name and gives you a phone number, and then ignores your e-mails and calls back? Who does that?
I don't know much about baseball card values but from what I've heard alot of them that were made in the earrl 90's late 80's are worthless except for burning.
Baseball cards are strictly a stock market. When you're a kid you're excited about your baseball card being $20, but then you're an adult and can buy a thousand of them, it sort of loses its luster. Plus that $20 probably dropped to $1 in value.

Looking to trade newer X-box 360 ( June 2009). This 360 was recently banned from X-Box live and as such cannot be used to game online but for anyone looking to game offline that'd rather have the advantages that come with it, I'm looking to trade for a 360 roughly around the same age that is NOT banned.

It's in great condition, barely used and can do EVERYTHING except go online.

Bahahaha, okay, rightttt... You fucked up, got banned from Xbox live, and you want to get the same Xbox 360 that's not banned... Some people are idiots... I'd offer him an original Xbox for his banned 360.
Do you really want these weird people knowing where you live?
yea but you see, there's a downside if you are the buyer, like if the people want you to meet them in a parking lot or a dark alley, where you can't test stuff out like electronics and tv's. So let's say you bought an lcd off someone, and they met you in a parking lot and you just paid and took it. When you get it home you plug it in and the picture is all fucked up. Now you have no idea where the guy lives and your out the money. Gotta test stuff out in the house or bring an inverter in your car lol.

http://syracuse.craigslist.org/vgm/1507773583.html

I want some of what's in the water in Syracuse, NY. The person who posted this ad said they want a copy of Zombies Ate My Neighbors for the Genesis and they have some PS3 games they'd be willing to trade for it.

Needless to say, I'm wishing I was closer than 2 hours from whoever this is, since I could find them 100 copies of ZAMN for way less than what those PS3 games probably cost them.

What's up with people who deliberately lowball you when making counter offers? And it's not like they're even bartering... they demand it at that price and expect you to be grateful.

Apparently, that's the "CAG way."
ZOmbies is worth 15-20 and there are plenty of ps3 games that cost the same
Really? I've seen copies of ZAMN at every local game shop and at least 2-3 thrift stores at one time or another and none of them had it priced over $5.:)
Really? I've seen copies of ZAMN at every local game shop and at least 2-3 thrift stores at one time or another and none of them had it priced over $5.:)
The Genesis one is only worth about what you would have paid to rent it years ago, I passed on a cart only copy at the pawn about a year ago (Genesis games are 3 or two for 5) I didn't need it since I had 2 complete copies has it is and now have 3 thanks to finding another one in a Genesis lot this summer at the flea market.

I'm thinking that darkslime might be thinking of the SNES version of ZAMN, I had an extra copy that I sold about a year or two ago online for about $15 shipped.
Unless the buyer is unable to read, why would they pay $139? I'd just never send the funds.

(I guess people are stupid.)
I believe the auction was counting on greed. You jump at the chance of a $500 Walmart Gift card... it is a deceptive ad...

Update: Buyer didn't pay... and left a neg....

Do the crazies come out in December??? This quote below has been more than rule than the exception the passed few weeks...

i am selling it for $100 and the games are legend of zelda majoras mask, super mario 64, pokemon stadium, and tony hawks pro skater

I am getting so sick of Craigslist. I've been looking for a PS3 for my brother for two weeks and I can not find a single one that's actually below MSRP...

WTF? Are these things actually selling? I'll gladly sell my 80GB for $600 if that's the case.

I could probably get at least a grand for mine, I do however have 40 games to make up that price :D

http://charlotte.craigslist.org/ele/1498287740.html

You could get a used copy of Mario Kart Wii with a wheel for only $5 more than a new copy costs on Amazon! I'm tempted to e-mail and ask him to send me a picture of Ratchet: Deadlocked on the Wii though. The good folks at Insomniac might be surprised to see it.

Also, do people think some of the big Wii games are in short supply as the console used to be? I've stumbled across at least 5 listings for NSMB Wii (USED, mind you) for $55-60, usually leaning toward $60. In the surrounding area, the highest tax is around 8% (in Charlotte it's around that) so these people are expecting you to pay as much for this used copy as a SEALED one.

Some idiot posted a copy of sonic the hedgehog for sega genesis asking for $60. Yes this was albany. I like searching far and wide for deals. Now I'm sure everyone knows how common SONIC is for the genesis. There are hundreds of them on amazon for less then $4 shipped all day.

Anyway........

http://albany.craigslist.org/vgm/1512692856.html

LOL. If Sonic 1 is really worth 60 let me know where to sell it because I have a few dupes I'll be happy to unload.

Yeah, because the NOT FOR RESALE one is more rare since EVERYONE who bought a genesis got a copy of that with their system.

A lot of bulk posts are showing up in my CL listings from that scammer site Eshoppingsky, most of it in the wrong category. And if you go to the front page of their site, it says: "Your best choise."
Apparently, that's the "CAG way."
Someone responded to an ad I listed, having completely misread it. But even if he had read it correctly, he lived so far away it wouldn't have been worth it to meet somewhere to make the exchange. But when he realized his mistake of not reading the simple words that were right in front of him, he proceeded to tell me what the item was worth! And doing a quick search on his name and e-mail address, he might actually be a CAGer!

wow. I just came across this thread for the first time today. But yea I too have seen a lot of crazy shit on craigslist.

1 of them that pops into mind isn't even asking all that much for their games

here's the link
http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/vgm/1516288207.html

he's asking for $4 for tomorrow never dies ps1 and $5 for driver 2 also for ps1

here's the funny thing though. This guy has been posting the same shit, same games, same price etc for like the past YEAR. you heard me AN ENTIRE YEAR of posting the same shit at the same prices. Takes persistence to a whole new level if you ask me. I woulda chucked it into the garbage long ago or gave it to someone else for free.

Sounds like the guy who keeps asking $100 for a boxed intellevision since 2008 that looks like it was washed in a toilet full of shit.

http://longisland.craigslist.org/ele/1520111488.html

I have an Extra Super mario Bros for Wii, this game is hot right now and is very hard to find. I will sell it unopened of course, for $100, non negotiable. Call if your interested

Just, what the hell?

Here's another one for good measure.

Ran into a CAGer in a different thread. He was asking about a lot that I had negotiated with him. I canceled the deal after I realized that yes, I would have been overpaying.

Quick advice:
If you BUY AND SELL on craigslist or ebay, use different names for each. I buy on craigslist with one name sell with a different one.

You would be surprised at how quickly someone would get mad at a "scumbag reseller" for selling his MINT copy of Earthbound for much more than the $25 that he sold it for...
