Yet More Craigslist Stupidity!

I've got some here:

"New nintendo wii in box unopened with 5 games!!! $390!!!

"Premium XBOX 360; $750 value, ONLY $500"

"RARE Earthound game will go fast. $250"
http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/tag/385633809.html

"Halo 3 special edition $70." he's selling the fucking game before it even comes out.

"New wii with sports pack! $450!!
http://houston.craigslist.org/tag/387694099.html

What gets me though, are all the people who advertise a Wii for sale, then count each game ON Wii Sports as an individual game for the total # of games.

I've seen ads like this before: Wii 4 sale with 6 games.

Wii Sports(1,2,3,4,5) and Sonic Secret Rings.....$450

Sorry, but to me, Wii Sports or Wii Play is ALL ONE GAME.

 I've seen that too with other compilation games. Anytime there's a game compilation listed, they list all the games and point out how it's "actually 10-games-in-1!" or something like that, and then charge more for it.

I think I've seen the Atari Anthology for PS2 listed this way.

Yeah, anywhere you see "Nintendo Wii with 14 games!", it's always going to be a Wii with Wii Sports and Wii Play.
I think its funny how people in this thread are trashing someone for low-balling offers on rare games when they'd snap up that Suikoden for $20 in a heartbeat.
yes, but are all of us posting deceptive stories on craig's list about how we just want the games for our kid who's dying of cancer and his last wish is to have a sealed, mint Suikoden II with the sony security sticker intact, no rips in the plastic, no loose disc, and an autograph from the developer made out to "Ebay"? no.

okay, the example was overkill, but you get the point...i hope. it's just fun to mess with asses like this guy. (who stopped responding unfortunately. maybe he read this thread  )

Too many to list from my area but there's two common themes:

Playstation 2's with assorted garbage games from $175-$350 (Yes $350)

PSPs that are supposedly in mint condition but have cracks and no house charger

Best thing I've seen on Craigslist yet

Yeah, on ebay, there are stupid people on there with it listed for $500, some even for $1000, not one has sold at that absurd price though, but there are tons of that particular model with the split audio jacks for $39-$49 and most if not all have sold for around $20-40. Thinking that someone on Craigslist will fork out $350 for that is laughable.

I e-mailed some questions (five) to a PS3 seller who threw up a post titled "PS3 Still in Box" with no further description. They were simple questions about if he was the original owner, if he had the original receipt, where/when he bought it, how much it had been used, and why he was selling. Pretty simple, I thought. He e-mailed back, "I still have it, but that's too many questions." Too many? Think of it as $80 a question if things go right, pal. Anyhow, that's the end of that opportunity.

That ps1 model is actually highly sought after by audiophiles. Its considered one of the best sounding CD players ever made. Ive seen that model go for higher than $350 on ebay.
How much do you wanna bet this person is selling the Burger King Transformers toys from just before or after the movie came out?

Actually, they did release some scaled down transformers over in japan; they just never ported them over to the US. However, $20 is way too expensive anyway, I think I paid that much for 4-5 of them and shipping.

Here is a link so you can see what I'm talking about, specifically click on the third link down.

Ugh, I still find it amusing that something that was extremely abundant and dirt-common is being scooped up for some good money on eBay...most end about $20. (sorry, eBay stupidity to ensue)

Well I'm just pissed. I had that model and sold it to gamestop a few years back when I bought my PS2 at launch....errr it was so worthless back then...I knew I shouldn't have sold it. I had no idea it was a kick ass cd player back then (and I had no clue of it's quality till now). I'm seriously so surprised it's worth that much now.

GRAND THEFT AUTO SANANDREAS + STRATEGY GUIDE BOOK PS2 NEW -:hot::hot::hot::hot:$100:hot::hot::hot::hot:

Date: 2007-08-08, 2:44AM EDT

4 Sale Grand theft auto sanandreas + Strategy guide book PS2 NEW (MATURE 17+) Very rare & very hard to find. You won't find this in any store. :oldman: $100 Firm. Pick up and pay with cash only, :rofl:No scammers, Do not give me stories _ _ _ and then ask me to ship it!!! Thanks :applause:

Maybe I should email him this link? Presently unsold bundle on eBay for $19 shipped
LOL I think I just love irking people, since I sent this CL seller the following email. LOL Watch them respond like that one lady who tried mixing in DVDs with her PS2 games. Anyway, here's what I wrote:

I'm very interested in your copy of San Andreas for the PS2. However, I don't think it's THAT 'ZOMG rare', as I found it at the following stores, ALL for WAY cheaper than your $100 pricetag. Albeit, they are the Greatest Hits versions, but still, they are WAY cheaper than your bundle. The guide isn't rare in any way, shape or form either, as I could get multiple copies for a penny each at many places.

So, suffice to say, I think you should REALLY reconsider that outrageous price.

Here's the links to where I found this game(and found it cheaper):

Gamestop:
http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=281428

Circuit City:
http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Grand-Theft-Auto-San-Andreas-PlayStation-2/sem/rpsm/oid/144822/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

Best Buy:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7666947&st=san+andreas&type=product&id=1134701147212

So, would you be willing to sell your bundle for say.....$15 and ship it for $20? If so, I may still be interested.

Thanks......

Mike

There's been a major influx of people trying to sell PS3's for $700 and Wiis for $400 lately. Don't know if we have contaminated water again or if all these wannabe gangbangers think they can actually hustle.

Maybe somebody out there who knows more about stereo equipment can fill me in, but $500 for a tape player seems outrageous.

http://kpr.craigslist.org/ele/367506815.html

"New in box. Audiovox model 2000. 8 Track tape player with AM-FM Stereo radio for your car or truck. I bought this unite from a True Value store that was closed over 10 years ago with everything still inside and in new condition. It was like taking a step back in time when the doors opened for the last time. I am first going to try selling my items here, before I put them on E Bay. For this unite I am asking $500.00, plus Shipping cost. Except for cash payment, any other form of payment will have to clear my bank first, before I will send you your purchase. It can take as long as 3 weeks for a deposit to clear. For questions you can e-mail me at [email protected]. or call 509- 547-6230"

EDIT - Also, why can't people put up pictures? If you can afford to spend almost a thousand dollars on videogames you can probably afford a digital camera. When I browse craigslist I will rarely look at a posting that is over $100 and doesn't have a photo.
They probably have a camera, and a cell phone camera, and a 35mm...well, you get the point. The thing is, they're just really lazy, obviously they're trying to make some fast and easy money by selling off their "rare" items.

LOL People say about CL posters being too lazy to post all of what they're selling or put up pics. I wasn't sure if I should put this in the CL find thread or this one.

PS2(silver slim) with ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE GAMES(3 controllers, memory card, yadda yadda)

http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/tag/392613153.html

Most of the games look to be complete too, which comes out to $5.60 per game before taking into account the system/controllers etc.

The total price for all that: $700

Here's another one: 158 strategy guides(they list them as being for Xbox, PS2, gamecube, PS1, nintendo, nintendo 64, pc, etc) and some are for RPGs....hmmmmm if only I were closer if they have any good guides.

158 guides($50):
http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/tag/392417060.html

The reason I put this one in here is because if they have the Silent Hill guide alone, this bundle is MORE than worth the $50.

Don't feel bad. No one buys them for that much, and if you really want one just look at a pawn shop. 99% of real audiophiles will not be using a ps1.

Ha - yeah I saw those too. The guy with the guides never got back to me, as expected.

And for your San Andreas email, if he replies, he might retort with a "It's the RARE Hot Coffee sex scene!" comment.

And for all who care, feel free to reply to the following - it started out innocously enough, but once I clicked through, I knew the poster had an agenda...

http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/tag/393447105.html

There goes my chance to offer up Madden 98 and VR Baseball 97...

LOL The guy with the San Andreas game replied exactly like that, to which I replied that I already have both the guide and game, but I just wanted to see what was up with his copy being 'zomg rare'. Funny stuff.

As for the guide person, if they're selling anything even semi rare in that lot, for $50, I'd drive the 2 hours to Philly area to grab them for $50. But, knowing my luck, they probably have guides for all the Maddens, etc, though they did say some RPGs, so that's a possibility still.
http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/ele/393595753.html

The deal is not really a problem here. What's confusing is why this person still has Madden 06, NCAA College Basketball 06, and NBA Live 06 sealed. This is not the winter of 2005! I think I'd pay someone money to take those games away from me.
Are they sealed? I think they're tring to say the 360 is new, but it just says 3 games, not 3 "sealed" games.

I found someone looking for Guitar Hero for the xbox. He claimed he could only ever find it for the 360 and not the original.

I don't understand what's wrong with selling hand-drawn art of Elvis for a nominal fee? As long as the person's artistic skills are not as shameful as their grammar, then an Elvis fan might buy it? It's more likely the ad will dwindle down into Craig's List black hole of forgotten posts sooner than later before a reply is received though.

...unless I'm totally missing the boat here?

I think the main purpose of them posting it here were to point out the grammar issues... Im in the same boat as you Caliburn...

I suppose I've become utterly desensitized by illiterate Craig's List postings that I thought there would be more to the post. It was yet another example of a painful CL post to read :wall: , heh.

Still, as long as the person's (art skills > grammar), someone might find worth in it.

Yeah, I'm very new to craigslist, and I was just astonished at their grammar (or lack thereof).
