Well of course it's fake. Those are no doubt parodies of some douchebag's ad in the "wanted" section begging for donations of free records and video games, or willing to pay next to nothing for them. I think it's a pretty funny mockery of the typical craigslist lowballer/reseller (me included).

DUde.....what does that ebay listing have to do with the CL listing.

First off the eBay one is for all BRAND NEW stuff. The CL listing is for a DSlite that is USED and at LEAST ONE YEAR OLD! That eBay listing isn't that bad, especially if you don't want to pay taxes or if don't pay attention to Sales (B1G1 half off, etc.). The poster on CL basically just took like $12 off what he/she actually paid for.

And:
Nintendo DS lite hardware - $129.88------> you can get on CL for $70
Tony Hawks’s American skatland - $19.82 ------->$5-$10
Guitar hero on tour - $39.82 -------> $15
TMNT - $19.82 ----------$5-$10
Skate - $19.96 ------$5-$10
Super Mario bros - $32.82 ------->$15-$20

Now that's a total of like $135 on the high end of those prices (I would never pay that much).....and I understand that there is some possible wiggle room......but not $115. If for example, my brother paid more than $125 for this, I would call him Stupid. Now I know there people out there that do not look at it the same way as CAG's do, and that is why WE post it HERE in this thread, where mostly only other CAG's will view it.

I suppose John Q. Public could get all this for $226 at Gamestop which we all know is overpriced on most used games, with security of being able to take it back if something doesn't work.
Now I know there people out there that do not look at it the same way as CAG's do, and that is why WE post it HERE in this thread, where mostly only other CAG's will view it.
But who does it benefit? It's a slightly overpriced video game system... who does that entertain? Who does it amuse? It's not funny or interesting or anything... only about half of the posts in this thread are actually amusing. The rest just aren't worth posting. If it was a DS Lite for $500.. then maybe you'd think something was wrong with the guy.
But, Karkyco,

this one on bay is going to go for at least $69!
yeah, but the auction you linked is for a GBA SP in a somewhat harder-to-find color along with 5 games, one of which is somewhat sought-after (SMB). and it's still (as of this post) cheaper than the CL ad.

i bought my last GBA SP for $3, and i even balked at that, since it didn't have the AC adapter.

that was kind of my point.....that they are two diffrerent items. Like with the DSlites...one being brand new and another that may or may not have been used as an ass crack scratcher.

:roll:....again with the entertainment and amusement. I didn't know that was a rule for this thread.....AND SLIGHTLY OVERPRICED????? I have sold two DSlites on Craigslist....BRAND NEW and for $105 and $110 and they didn't go fast.

You should start a Phrostbyte's Thread and title the Real Craigslist Stupidity Thread where every post is guaranteed to entertain, amuse you, and be 100% Stupid Ridiculous.

Phrostbyte- Must we do this every week? Is it because I didn't put my disclamer before i posted?

Seriously though I get what you're saying. It's all about what somebody
perceives as a good price to them. I agree with you and some posts on here don't seem to be to crazy to me, but it's all about past experiences and what i know of the product listed. It doesn't bother me to the point where I have to make a post to say that it's not that overpriced. Same thing with Craigslist, I never would e-mail the person to tell them their item is overpriced, because it serves me no purpose.

It got flagged though, probably by one of the typical reselling assholes who flagged my ads posting FIRM prices for game lots I put up who got pissed off when I didn't wanna lower the prices to nothing and sell select(rarer) games to them for peanuts.

I guess I have to actually go around the local colleges and hang flyers in some of the dorms to see if I can get any bites that way, since the jerks on CL are just gonna flag anything I post that even vaguely cuts into their profit margin.

Dont feel bad I get flagged alot with the same instances.. so idiot emails me basically asking for my whole lot for like $20 and when I say no its only a matter of time before it gets flagged... One guy told me my sealed games had to be stolen because the store sells them for like $50 and my prices were way lower.. so I scanned the reciept and sent them to him and he still claimed they were photo shopped ... some people these days.. so needless he was probably the same guy that flagged me...

Around me it almost seems like it has to be disc only scratched to hell and next to free for people not to harass you.

Our conversation:

me - you still have that hd cable for the xbox?
him - yes I do....
me - how much do you want for it?
him - 20 cash
me - oh i'm just looking for the cable.. not the xbox and everything
him - the cable was pretty expensive. what if I give you for 15 cash. If you go get a new one probably would cost you 50 dollars
me - i don't think they sell xbox cables anymore... the system is almost 10 years old now. anyway, i'll give you $10 for it.. i think that's a fair price considering they go for about $7 on ebay
him - I'd rather keep it. You can go ahead and buy the cheap quality one on ebay and I'll keep my good thick cable quality.
me - ok i'm still not sure if i wanna go vga or component.. so let me know if you change your mind

No cable for me I guess.. oh well heh.

me - i thought the $120 was a typo... $12 is closer to what they usually sell for ($10-$30 depending on what's included)
him - i had no idea that low. if youre paying cash id sell the whole bunch, system, controller, hookups and 13 games for 35 bucks. im not hurting for money so i dont wanna just throw it aw

Good for you man. See, that's what these dumbfucks don't understand - YOU put in the effort to track down, research, investigate, and the hard labor to turn some clueless or lazy idiot's stuff into gold, and some people complain about it. They or these "craigslist advocates" aka "anonymous assholes spouting their worthless opinions" think they are getting ripped off because they agreed to sell their shit for pennies on the dollar. No one is holding a gun to anyone's head and saying "TAKE MY MONEY BITCH, I WANT YOUR SHIT FOR PEANUTS".

If you are stupid enough to sell away something worth 10, 100, or 1,000+ times as much as you sell it for, then it's YOU who is the sucker and chump - TOO BAD, SO SAD. Just as we say "let the buyer beware", let the seller beware too. These crybaby LOSERS are whining because they don't have what it takes to do what guys like you and I do - they don't have that hustle gene that just makes the magic happen.

And all you dumbshits need to remember - THIS IS CRAIGSLIST, the flea market/swapmeet/garage sale of the online world. If you want or expect eBay prices, SELL YOUR SHIT ON EBAY. Bargain basement prices are the name of the game here.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WHO GIVES A SHIT MAN! If someone is stupid enough to give up up thier bike for $150 or what ever, thats their problem. Thats what yur spose ta do! Find a bike for cheap, & try and sell it for more. Why would you buy a bike for $100 and sell it for $100? It sounds ta me yur just a bullshit cry baby. I found two oldschool 24" bmx frames & fork on here, Hutch & redline both 1980's. hutch was $200, redline was $175. So i wasn't spose to build um up all oldschool & vintage and sell um for more? I sold the Hutch for $1000 on ebay, & the redline for & $754. Cost me $300 to build the hutch, & $200 to build the redline. Sounds ta me THATS WHAT YUR SPOSE TA DO!!

Beware of the snake, known as slimey Dave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IS HE THE SGV GUY?. HE HAS HIS FORM EMAIL TRICK DOWN TO A SCIENCE. THAT'S HOW THE SGV GUY IS ABLE TO COME UP WITH SO MANY BICYCLES. I ASSUME HE EMAILS QUITE A FEW PEOPLE AND A PERCENTAGE OF THEM FALL FOR HIS EMAIL SLOBBER. THE FOLLOWING IS HIS EMAIL THAT HE SENDS TO PEOPLE WITH DECENT BIKES OR BIKES WITH POTENTIAL.

(here's the form email)

If you're dead set on your selling price, read no further and please accept my apology for wasting ten seconds of your time. If, however, you want the option of a bona-fide, albeit lesser offer, and assuming that your bike is in great mechanical and cosmetic condition, I have $150 in cash to bring to you immediately, and that means, in-person, and within 45 minutes of speaking with you by phone. Again, I am a local buyer (near UCLA) who will bring CASH to you, in-person. Now I know that you may be getting ready to fire back at me with an angry email, but before you do, please read on. I understand that you can eventually get more from the perfect buyer. Unfortunately, that buyer is not me. That said; I come as promised/when promised, and with a pre-agreed-upon cash amount, something that you will not get from Craiglist kooks who are extremely likely to waste your time with no-shows, attempted renegotiations, or crazy trade scenarios. Please don't be insulted by my offer. It is not personal, nor is it an indictment of your bike. Again, I know that you may get more than I am offering if you are willing to wait for weeks in order to find the right buyer, however, the bottom line is that from time to time when I sell something off on Craigslist, I frequently spend so much time dealing with time wasters, that I often wind up losing a large percentage of what the item is worth in time expended: (free time hours wasted X hourly pay rate = unrecoupable costs) So, if at any point you see a pattern starting to develop, one in which flaky people are continually wasting your time, time after time, I would simply ask that you consider that every extra hour that you spend dealing with the sale of your bike could be costing you anywhere from $25 to $500 that you will never see again, depending on whether you are an administrative assistant, or an entertainment attorney... Okay, that's all from me. Again, I am sorry to make you an offer that you may find wholly unacceptable, but if you're looking for a clean and hassle-free sale, let me know and I'll send you my number. Thanks for your time, and good luck with your sale. Regards, Dave

I agree with that!! :applause:

Imagine if craigslist had some sort of online price/value checker that analyzed prices for stuff so if someone was overpricing an item the post would get denied and if the price was right or lower it would get approved.

I was thinking of that the other day...........

I noticed that the people who always say "make an offer" "make me an offer on this system/stuff" alot of times they end up wanting some insane amount of money for something that isn't worth it. They don't put a price in the ad because they wanna see who offers more and make it like a bidding auction.

and then your ad gets flagged for removal out of the blue like you said...

Another video game/electronics beggar. Ah well, it's a novel change from the lowballing scum i.e. "I'll give you $1 for your complete Earthbound".

LOL, swap meet and street corner bootleggers...though the going rate I've seen quoted is usually 4 for $10 i.e. $2.50 a piece.

And your 3 for $10 is $3.33, so you'd be saving a buck per 3 from this guy...

Haha.. I think the swapmeet has a better deal since you can get the "new in theatre" movie while that guy at CL can only gives you movies that already available in DVDs. :)
