[YMMV] Ebgames New trade in Rules (found out today) 1 per person ONLY
So it did come to a stop.. oh well I only made a $3.00 profit towards my preorder and I still gotta finish the payment =T. At least I kept one of the games.. (even though I don't own Xbox).

Also did people's trade in with their duplicates happen near the beginning? Because I remember I traded mine in Friday.. or Saturday and my EB just told me straight out I couldn't trade in duplicates again.. I don't know if they're bsing me off (since they already hate me or so) or had EB already established that rule?
Well, it seems to be the slidecage/cag1000 rule. It only happens to people who have screwed the system over before and they know who you are. And since we all know how much they hate your whole family, maube we should add your name to the rule.

I'll believe it, when I see it... If it is true, then personaly the rest of my business would go to GR (maybe a little ebgames.com). I don't trade in that many games, but on principle, I would buy all my games at GR. Good GR deals outnumber good EB deals 10 to 1.

It's funny to see people on extreme opposites regarding this deal post in the same thread and nobody from either side really acknowledging each other's opinions.

1. Why are people so pissed at EB and Gamestop for giving low trade in values? They are a business and have bills to pay. Consider this: why don't you guys open a store and everyone here will send you their copy of Primal, eJay clubworld, etc. and you give us $3 per game??? Hell you can even set your own price to sell at - let's see how much profit you make.

Where the hell did you guys come up with the idea about people with tight budgets having to succumb to EB's crappy trade in values? First thing if you're on a tight budget I guess you shouldn't be spending $50 on a new game anyways, especially if you're going to just play it and then want to sell it off. That's why there's blockbuster, gamefly, etc.

2. Why would people buy 20 copies of the same game, go trade all of them at once to EB, and not expect resistance from EB employees?

On the other side:

1. I don't understand why some people are so opposed to taking advantage of the trade-in deal/TRU sale. I can't speak for others but I've done it but only a couple of copies and I spread those out to different stores in two different cities. The games in question are pretty crappy games that almost no one would buy so we're not robbing anyone of games. Even the "good" game - Primal - sucked. I was about to keep it but after playing I traded it in. It is buggy as hell, the whole city disappeared a few times and I was trapped in limbo.

A lot in one post but I had to get this stuff off my chest.

I can vouch for this story also. But I went to two stores and did not have a problem. So I am guessing that it is just per store. At least in Cincinnati

Its funny for all you who did the TRU deal there...and stuff like that.
I dont have to worry since I dont have an EB in my city :D

"We will know only take 1 Copy per person of the same game total. This is 1 game total this isnt 1 per visit , 1 per day its 1 GAME TOTAL."

this is why it's good to have friends who aren't into things like you are, who got your back and are down to help
Good....maybe people wont buy up all the cheap games in hopes of trading them in ( i know there is still ebay )
About a week too late.

I just traded two copies of Turok, and two copies of Eternal Darkness. They said I couldn't do two of the same games at the same time. So I came back an hour later and they were cool with it. I thought I was going to have to get my girlfriend to do it.

How much did they give you for ED Chris, I was looking all over for a cheap copy of that until I just gave in and paid $11 on EBgames.com.

This is an extreme YMMV. Local manager thought I was crazy when I mentioned it. However, someone tried to trade in a bunch of jampacks and got shut down :)

are you saying I screwed over the system at ebgames how the hell did i do that. AT Least im not some of the CAG that totally rip off Ebgames buy Trading in 5 games to get a free 50 buck game then taking that 50 buck game back to get 50 in credit when those 5 games would never total 50 bucks.

Don't be so modest. You should be honored to have a CAG rule named after you. Your endless hoarding, flipping and working the system has brought you to this point, and now you have your very own rule named after you. Congratulations!

Which is why the two bigges hoarders we're saddled with, slidecage and cag1000, needed to have a rule named after them. And I'm happy I could be so lucky and modest as to think it up. \:D/

Something for the records of CAG history. :D

When is hoarding not hoarding? Lots of people complain about hoarding when they've missed out on a deal, but never consider it when they are the first ones in on it. Everyone would always slam FW because it was always done there. I've never bought a game for the express purpose of trading it in. I'm not opposed to trading in games you no longer want (even though I've never traded one in myself). But I find it hard to believe that it's only crappy games that no one wants that are being used for this purpose. If people are more concerned about being Cheap Ass Entrepreneurs than Gamers, that's their own decision. It's when those same people want to pretend they are not hoarding, or are just striking a well-deserved blow at the Man that I have a problem.

$1.50 :(, but I also traded in Turok with it for like $14 total.

Might be time to kick dirt into that rather deep hole?
All I can say is that people who think EB is shaq-fuing them over really need to understand how business works.
while its true, eb offers 50 cents for a game to maximize profit, why is it that eb is shocked when they have a sale and people want to maximize their profit from the sale?

believe me i understand how business works...but this is EB's fault for making such an offer.

if i posted on cag saying "ill buy any ps2 game for $5 as long as its not sports" can you imagine how many copies of pryzm and primal i would have?!

EB (should have) knew what they were getting themselves into. if anyones to blame its them. if they dont realize there are educated consumers in the world, they will lose their hat on offers like these, which is why i hope they knew what they were getting into.

While it is true that they should know what they are doing, it is also true that people should take it at a moderate pace, so that maybe the deal will come around again in the future.

i agree, i never traded in more than 12 games and always with very few(if any) doubles, and never went to the same store short of 4 days apart.

That's because you are wise in the ways of the Trade, Punqsux-Wan Kenobi. The Trade is strong in this one.

I guess this means slidecage and CAG1000 have fallen to the dark side (hoarding, flipping and generally abusing the system for their own personal gain). I officially confer 10 dark side points to each.
*jedi mind trick on slidecage*
you will not trade in so many games to the same store
*wave of hands*

You don't need to see our receipts.

These are not the games you are looking for.

Move along.

My idea of hoarding is when someone takes a large percentage of the games. Even if there were 5 copies of the same game to begin with and someone bought all 5 (not buying for friends, etc.); I consider that hoarding. If the game was a quality game then that person is not only hoarding but an @$$.

I sincerely hope that people who used the games for trade in deal were using the crappier games. I believe Xenosaga, perhaps Maximo:ARmy of Zin also got really cheap at TRU, I hope nobody used these as trade in fodder cuz I've been looking to buy both games but my tru doesn't have any. On the same note, I believe most of the CAG community are just gamers and would not do something like this; we're not trying to be entrepeneurs but we also know a good deal when we see one. Whereas people on FW may buy any cheap game and just trade them all in. they wouldn't concern themselves with the notion that they're robbing people of quality games.

Xenosaga is $6.xx at my store. Did you want a copy?

I'd try that game for that price...how much to ship to me? Or can anyone get me it cheaper..this is CAG after all ;)

i just went to trade in some more games at eb and now they have the no doubles policy. but the guy that worked there was cool since i had 5 music makers and some other different games he just rung them up on all different receipts. but now im stuck with 2 extra music makers.... i just gotta find 2 other games to trade along with them.

Go to another EB and buy 2 games from the bargain bin (like Drake or Disaster Report) for $4.99 ea (minus your edge card discount of $.50). Then go back to the first EB and trade in the two pair of games - you won't make anything on the 2 EB games, but you won't lose any either, and you'll make money on the Music Makers.

That is, if your TRU has no more cheap games - obviously that would be the way to go if you had the option...

The trade in deal SHOULD last til the end of the month. check the EB thread on the "Post your video game deal" board.

Zon27 - thanks for the offer but I'll probably pick it up at EB this weekend as one of the games for the B2G1 sale.
