YMMV- Gamestop and Best Buy are receiving NES Classics. UPDATED

Who's dumber- the person who camps for 12 hours to buy a toy or the people who say they'd camp longer even if they had a pass to go home.

That's a lot of dumb.
You can pretty much replace "toy" with any nonessential object. If you view the item as worthless in a derogatory "toy" way, then yes, it is "alot of dumb." If you and/or your family will create some fun memories using it, then maybe not so much.

By his logic my $3000 camera setup is a toy.

Point is, bb screwed the pooch and should make it right.

during that TRU Mario Edition new 3DS black friday, there was about 6 white and 6 black 3ds. got my ticket while i waited in line. once the door opens, i went straight there. while my 3ds was ringing up, there was a guy came up to the cashier and asks for the 3ds. the lady gave him the ticket that was taken away from the customer who was in front of me. i then told the lady saying u cant do that. whoever that last person with the ticket wont get the 3ds. she didnt say anything. she must be one of those new seasonal workers who doesnt know anything better.

Reviews are bad, especially concerning the d-pad. I use an old Wii Classic controller for P2 (and 10ft extension cables).
If anyone is wondering about the Insignia controller from Best Buy - I tried it out on a few games and it is pretty good quality. The only drawback I am experiencing is the click-noise of the A and B buttons seems to be a bit louder than the original OEM. Also, the white plastic is shinier than the more dull-ish off-white of the OEM look. Overall though not too shabby for $8 spent. I was able to get through "the hallway" in Castlevania just fine. Maybe the real test would be Tyson...

Hot Take Alert ^

A copy machine wouldn't really help [the copier], because if the Best Buy worker is doing their job (like so many did nationwide), they would match their ticket up with the respectively numbered system. Tickets are numbered, systems are numbered, that way someone can't make a bunch of copies of their ticket. Tickets were also numbered and initialed in highlighter, which would not show up well even if copied in color.

That Best Buy screwed up - the customer did what they were supposed to do.
The "tickets" at my two closest stores were nothing more than black and white photocopies of 8.5 x 11" paper with either a felt tip pen / highlighter numeral in the upper corner. Something that could be easily replicated. I could have done that in 2min in my car if I came prepared with sharpies, pens, highlighters, and a copier or 30minutes (traveling time) if i had time to run home for 2minutes. These people in line are flippers so I wouldn't put anything past them. That was more of a tongue-in-cheek remark but it's a real possibility.

We just have differing perspectives I guess. I've done the Best Buy line thing a dozen times in the last several years for amiibos, NES classics, the Switch, and other various products (usually Nintendo lol). They do a good job. Better than any other retailer, that's for sure. A person that leaves needs to show up by 9:55-10:00 with their ticket if they want to buy one. Any later than that and you're last in the checkout line at opening, and risking your merch. All it takes is a simple oversight by one of several workers like one guy posted (post #1497) earlier. They hand out tickets to keep things neat and orderly and so people don't riot. Best Buy employees don't give a shit about any of this. They HATE this stuff. I don't blame them. They hate it because of twats like jonathansmith369 that yell at them and tell them they aren't doing their jobs properly, when they weren't even standing in line at opening.

Shit happens sometimes. But I get irritated when a bunch of internet whiners complain about a retailer that is generally considered the standard of excellence in video game retail. I know one thing for sure and that's you don't wait to be last to pick up your item, in any instance, at every retailer.

That's the same way it was at the store I went to. I had an hour and a half after getting the ticket that i could have gone and photo copied it.

If I am seeing stock of 5 at a couple of Targets and they don't close for another hour, should they be for sale today?  Or does target tend to hold them for the morning?

Morning. I learned the hard way. I did exactly that. Saw 5 pop up at about 10PM showed up at 10:30PM waited until 11:30PM only for the manager to say they were still in the truck. She told the truth, because none were sold until after opening time, which I missed out on.

But who really knows, every Target store is different. The one I went to held it until morning.

Yeah, stock hasn't changed in an hour, so I guess it must be an unloading for morning. Thanks.  Early bird flipper can have the worm.

Welp, guess I'm up at 7AM to wait outside a Target that opens at 8, ten miles from my vacation hotel that shows 2 saleable. That's me now. I'll only be pissed if they said it was an error and they never had em. I'd completely enjoy showing up at 730 and seeing 15 nerds in sleeping bags by the door.

When I first check BS, there was nothing, then like 10 minutes later I checked again and 5 popped up. My bro happened to be next to that Target and they close at 12am. So I told him and he went in like 11:21pm and first guy didn't know and the in store scanner showed nothing at back. But he asked another worker and she confirmed they had them but they were still in the truck and will be ready for tomorrow. So BS is pretty accurate when stock first arrives. Good to know.

I'm outside of Target right now. I really want to get one for my son and this will probably be my last chance.

On a side night the employee inside is looking at me like "why are you here?"

My local Target shows 2. Is it worth it...............
I wouldn't even bother if there are only 2 available. You can almost be certain there are two scalpers already there sleeping for it. Not worth the trip. 4-6 units though would be tempting. But still, everyone knows about Brickseek so expect company.

My local Target has 2... Does Target give out tickets to buy or just first come only?

Update: 5th in line. Store only had 2. No ticket system either. Oh well 😐

Got one in Carlisle PA. No one else was there at store open and they had two, but would only sell me one.

Counting my blessings.

Went back to hotel instead of to the next Target, and re-checked BS to see if the other Target in the area still showed 2, and both the original store I was at and the other Target already went to Out of Stock. Glad I checked before driving out.

So if they sold out that fast honestly it mightve been just the random people who 8AM shop at Target anyway. No one but me was there at opening and while I waited and browsed the clearance end cap after buying the NES no one else showed up.

Some clever Target manager over in NJ decided to withhold 6 NES classics from being scanned into the system so they would not end up on Brickseek. Pretty much preventing any scalper from even knowing the store had some units. Very smart. Guess it worked. 6 popped up randomly late at NJ Target, then 5 minutes later 3 instantly sold then 3 more 5 minutes after. No doubt sold to friends or family members.

I imagine Target workers are getting fed up with people checking inventory stocks using Brickseek. Only way to combat brickseek is to scan items late well after opening. Good way to keep camping scalpers away.

Which Target?

I just saw that union, linden and menlo in NJ all got 2-3 in on brickseek within the last half hour and they all sold out instantly pretty much

Which Target?
It was North Bergen Commons 7101 Tonnelle Ave North Bergen, NJ 07047. All morning they showed no stock, until passed 8:30am it randomly popped up in the system with 6 NES Classics in stock. 10 Minutes later all sold out. First time I ever saw that. Its clear whoever is managing that place withheld the 6 NES classics from being scanned in the system to keep them off of Brickseek. And it worked.

It's probably more like "please kill me"

I feel the same way. I had two stores showing 2 units this morning and decided it wasn't worth it to try to get one. You'd have to get there so early. 4 or more then it's a go.

Did you guys go to electronics or just the register up front and they had it ready when they open the doors? I don't think they are handing out tickets

It's different every time man. The good managers give out ghetto "tickets" at most locations. Otherwise you'll have to head back to electronics quickly and make sure you tell them who was in line. Take a picture of the line to cite proof. The workers don't care, occasionally you have to be pretty stern. But usually they will ticket, or sometimes the person who opens the door will escort the line themselves to CS or back to electronics.

Randomly checked Brickseek at 3 am while feeding baby and saw one of our four Walmarts had three in stock. Dropped her off at daycare at 7:30 and called them - they still had them.

Make the 30 minute drive (fortunately I work nearby there) and see two dudes walking out. They each have one! I can see them through the bags. Bastards!

Clenching my sphincter, I run/walk to electronics to see the sole NES Classic sitting in the case. Snagged it. Phew.

At Target for me the manager greeted us at the door and said we have only 4 and escorted us to the customer service desk to make sure the first four got the items.

Checked brickseek this morning and saw them pop up all around me so I got here to target close to work about 20 minutes ago. There was one guy with two little girls already at the door waiting. An employee comes out and says there's only three and it's one per customer, guy says him and his daughters are getting all three. I give the employee a look like "come on dude" . Employee says he will check with his manager. In the meantime another kid walks up but he is here for a Switch, him and the guy starts talking about flipping, which it's obvious why the guy want three.
Finally the employee comes back out with tickets and says it's one per paying customer and gives the tix to the guy and his two girls. I left annoyed but not surprised. Wife says I should complain, but I said it won't make any difference, target doesn't care. Oh well, irritated but I tried.

Anyone on the east coast check tru today?

How little were these girls? Daddy give them cash or something?

Yep, I was just texting my siblings from home and my sis said she was 3rd in line and then a lady with a 4 year old after her.  My brother just got into the parking lot and after parking he went to my sister, they drove separately.   Before opening, the lady complained about my bro cutting so they were going to do a raffle if they couldn't settle it down.   The raffle was risky because they could rig it and both my siblings might not get it, since 4 more people went in line.   My bro decided to not get it because he did cut.  There was a sign or something at the electronics registers and it said "one per household" but that lady got 2.  Oh well.  They had 5 in total but I'm just glad my sister got 1 this time.  If the sign says "one per person" then I don't care who gets it, just as long they were in line.  But if it says "one per household" they should at least honor that but nope.  If I bro didn't go to my sis, he would've been 5th but he still wouldn't have gotten one since they didn't honor the "one per household".

He really was a douche, slicked hair, pencil thin groomed beard, earring, talking about flipping.
I really thought about saying something but at the end of the day it would've just been me venting out of frustration, would've accomplished nothing. I'm slightly irked but over it now. In my younger days I probably would've said something though.
One last hope is that east coasters will check with GS or TRU reports

Scored one in the Bay Area as soon as it popped up, showing up at 6:30, my store was showing 5 available to sell but 6 on hand. They confirmed with us they had 6 prior to handing out tickets 30 minutes before store opening. People just kept driving by us without asking so once 7:30 rolled around and they started handing out tickets, the employee ending up grabbing the last one.

The first store I tried was 4 of 4 before 6am, one guy was sleeping on a mattress!
