Honestly I'd like to go see Dashboard Confessional for the sole purpose of tossing a baggy on stage with some sort of animal testicals with a note saying, "Dude drop some of these and stop sounding like a little bitch girl"

Ugh, Dashboard Confessional is one of the main bands responsible for the decimation of the word emo. Now when i say I like emo music, no one know what the fuck I'm talking about.

Which band is it that sings the song "How did this happen to me?"

I'd say that song is solely responsible for my hatred of emo.

emo is terrible.

it's like if New Order and David Bowie took all things holy and good in their music and mixed it with slow moving poo.
None of you guys know real emo, all you know is the shitty pop rock labeled emo. Dag Nasty >>>>>>>>> any nu-emo band.
Wait wait wait, are you saying that there's poser-EMO!?!?!

Poser emo is all the current shit that's called emo. Shit like Taking Back Sunday and My Chemical Romance. The real stuff is actually just slowed down, mellower hardcore (think Black Flag on valium)
so...has gmail been dead for the past few hours for anyone else?
It's working for me.
Arguing about emo distinctions? Oh man...
I know, right. You can't invent this kind of irony.

Then you're lucky.

It's shit like this that makes me wonder if people even listen to the music.
I know, right. You can't invent this kind of irony.
I'm just confused. Should...should I go to myspace and talk about CAG stuff now?
Then you're lucky.

That list is just ... beyond comprehension.

real emo started out in DC with Fugazi and all the bands around them...I think it was the lead guy in Fugazi who coined the term. it was much darker, more specific to the people performing it and usually had to do with something other than a co-dependant boyfriend whining about not being able to live without some girl.

Remember: most mainstream music is just a refined, repackaged, mutated and marketed version of something that was once original and exciting to a much smaller group of people.
What. The. fuck. :whistle2:?

And yet people are bitching all because I called World/Inferno ska

:whistle2:s I didn't know Weezer, JEW, and Blink-182 were emo.

Anyway, I got a nice package today. :D

I just hate the little kiddies that go around calling thmeselves emo and think its cool to partake in "cutting" and so badly want to die because their life sucks. I really wish they would kill themselves, save everyone a lot of headaches once they become adults. I hate to admit that I prefer to be around kindergoths rather than emo brats. At least they have some sort of taste in music. I mean I'd rather listen to Bauhaus than "how could this happen to me?". Note that I totally have nothing agaist gothic music
Is there such thing as straight edge music yet?

XXX
There are bands that are straight edge (like Minor Threat and 7 Seconds), but it's not really a genre, just a lyrical offshoot of hardcore usually.
Whoa, I didn't know kindergoths were into Bauhaus. Seems a little too goth for them. All the kindergoths I know adore shit like HIM and Slipknot.
Well, I as just using them as a reference. As for HIM, Ville Valo needs to be shot. They probably also think that The 69 Eyes are the greatest thing. First thing I thought when I saw their video was "Hey Andrew Eldritch called and he wants his music back". I mean c'mon you sound like Sisters of Mercy and do a song about The Lost Boys.

As for Slipknot, I couldn't get into the last album. I just wish I could find more industrial that hit my ear right. I ended up downloading 10 gigs worth of shit a few nights ago (guy was on a T3 connection and an avg speed of half a meg a second). At least I have everything that :wumpscut: and In Strict Confidence have done till right now...

::wumpscut:: is really good, but I haven't heard In Strict Confidence. I have a ton of industrial, both the old stuff and more recent incarnations.

ISC is killer. wumpy, ISC, Velvet Acid Christ (though Bryan Erickson can be a total douche when he wants to be), and Front Line Assembly are always my best best for something good...
VAC is another band I've never heard, though FLA is pretty good. Skinny Puppy, Psyclon Nine, and Godflesh are where I go for my industrial.
Forgot about Skinny Puppy and Godflesh. I think I may have heard a Psyclon Nine album. If you use AIM, I could hook you up with some VAC and ISC

Nah, thanks though. I need to slow my music aquisition. 44.39 gigs is a bit much.

Plus, I've gotten out of Industrial a bit, and am sticking mostly to Crust Punk and Noise.

Ahh, good old noise music. I have some Whitehouse, Coil, maybe some Merzbiw, and Gasbuther kicken around on my PC. In fact, I picked up Whitehouses first album on CD at a local record store here about 3 years ago. One of my most prized CDs really...

Whitehouse, shit, I keep forgetting to get some of theirs. I heard them on a Last.fm radio station, and loved it, but I keep forgetting to get some.

And I need more Boris. Pink is a good fucking album.

I have Another Crack of the White Whip, Psychopathia Sexualis, Quality Time, and Bird Seed. Welcome to them if you wish. The one album I've been wanting to get is Dedicated to Peter Kurtan. Heard some off of it, and loved it.

Like I said earlier, thanks, but I really need to cut back. I haven't listened to half the shit I have.

Now if only my fucking CDs would arrive in the mail.
Nice pick up. I bought all 4 seasons for my sister. As soon as she moves into her new place I'll send them as an early birthday present.

great stuff, I was watching some of season 4 this weekend. Its such an under rated show. Just thinking about McGurk cracks me up.

Yeah it is a good feeling getting songs down. Remembering it all is the hard part. I learned "The Star Spangled Banner" the other day and it is cool...if only I could play it like Jimmie Hendrix.

Also to go with the more music talk if you don't like The Doors something is wrong with you maybe...well IMO.

Yeah, there's an unexpected, but hilarious pic of McGurk on the back of Season 4 box. Speaking of unexpected pics on DVD cases:
I should re-learn to play guitar, and work on my vocals more. Then try and get that egrind project off the ground.
Guitar Hero's enough for me. GHII will kick ass when it finally comes out.

I just hate the idiot teenagers that are into the Doors and Morrison because they think he was a huge druggie. He was a raging alcoholic, get it right brats...
Guitar Hero's enough for me. GHII will kick ass when it finally comes out.
The problem with that is that I've almost beaten it. Three songs left on Hard mode (Texas Flood, Bark at The Moon, and Cowboys From Hell), then only expert stands in my way.
