You think you're hardcore?

I once sat in front of Super Mario World for seven hours straight without blinking.

I started playing Super Mario Bros 3 on the SNES when I was three. Playing so long without blinking gave me massive headaches and eventually resulted in vision loss. Both of my eyes are 20/40, and I wear glasses that are half an inch thick.

You think you're more hardcore than I am? Prove it. Post your most awesome gaming feat.
I beat the first level of quake on nightmare with my computer monitor off...
How is ruining your eyesight a gaming feat?

Let's see... I've done a fair amount of crazy stuff with my NES games in the past few years.

Contra - beat without dying
Zelda 1 - Beat in 57 minutes | Got to Ganon without a sword
Zelda 2 - Beat game with 1 Attack, 1 Magic, and 8 Life

And I've beaten Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time with only 3 heart containers.

I guess I'm not the only one! What do you use to rub one out? Frogger?

:applause::bow: Those are seriously impressive.

I am SO not hardcore. I cna only play for 2-3 hours at once, I own less than 250 games, and I rarely, if ever, play over normal diffculty.

The closest I ever got was finishing Streets of Rage, with 2 players, by myself, 3 times (one for each character's 'bad' ending.) I put the 2nd player controller under my feet and played with my toes. I actually beat stage 1 in Parappa the Rapper with my feet too... but quickly decided it was too much effort to keep the controller steady underfoot AND be able to hit the shoulder buttons.
I've....travelled around offering up to $1K to anyone who could beat me in Super Mario Kart...no charge
Ever been to Tulsa? I believe my friend Kevin had a game with you.

Oh, and the hardcoreness...um, nothing really. I could probably school you in Day of Reckoning for Cube.

I can play through three of the side scrolling levels (jungle, waterfall, snow) in Contra blindfolded. I'm working on the rest. The underground stages are just too random. I've always wanted to do a speed run in that one too.
I actually did go up to Tulsa for the Oklahoma Gaming Expo, so that was probably it.
Awesome, man. You were incredible. Destroyed my friend in like 20 seconds.

This reminds me of a kid that I knew. He never, ever turned off his NES. He would play most of the night, pause his game, and then shut off his TV and sleep. Then, he would play more the next morning and evening. He told me that he had never turned off his NES in about 10 years. His family has a back-up power supply, so even when weather conditions shut off most of the town's power, he was still playing. Wonder if it's still on...

Only 7 hours? Once I played dota (warcraft 3 TFT) for like 12-15 hours straight and only ate for about 5 minutes or less. I played till my body was drained out of energy and I felt like I was high. I felt like I was semi tired (like I want to sleep) and other part of me wanted to stay up. And the night before I had about 6 hours of sleep.

... how can you stand playing so much DotA? I can only play like one game of dota every 3 months. It's so freakin lame compared to the ACTUAL GAME. Micro one unit! Wow!...

And I too, paid full price for a game once (actually twice)!

I beat ZeldaALTTP with using my sword . . . and this was back before I even knew hwat the internet was.

I beat RE2 in less than an hour.

Beat disc one of FF7 in less than 15 Hrs.
I could probably school you in Day of Reckoning for Cube.
My Austin Aries can wipe the floor with anyone, as could any character under my control. To even make things remotely interesting I set the game to the hardest difficulty and do fatl 4 ways/handicaps and there's still no real challenge, no cringe moments where I think they're getting the best of me.

I do have one ubar weakness though, people who button mash at wrestling games. I have a few friends that do this and while still easy to beat, it annoys the living hell outta me.

Only person that'd probably be a challenge would be another CAG, theGamer4787. Counter fest gallore that guy is.

O and for a hardcore moment, in Neverwinter Nights there was an epic battle and I was the lone survivor. Spawn after spawn was sent after me as the war came to a close, and after defeating a couple dozen lizards the DM himself showed his face and came at me, only to experience the same fate his pawns had moments before.

Sadly the wusses couldn't handle that I decimated their game and accused me of overstacked items, which you can clearly see were not if they had bothered to right click on me. You don't mess with a Pale Master.

I've done both of those things, too. :)

About 10 years ago I played through the first world of Super Mario World while lying on my back, thus giving me a backwards perspective.

Back when I used to play CS, I found a map called Scoutzknivez (bout 3+ years ago now).

I was probably one of the best in the world at that map.. I pretty much was one of the first strafe jumpers and I was pretty legendary in general. 70-1 scores, killing 12 in one round, ect.

Cant say the same about any other map.. but I had my own on that one. I was decent at iceworld too.

Oh, and for a real hardcore moment.. my friend played through shenmue 2 for 17 hours till he beat it. It was fucking crazy.

When I was 6, I pulled my first all-nighter playing a game. Actually, it was almost two all-nighters in a row. I left the computer only to shower and eat. My parents didn't know I wasn't sleeping though; I pretended to go to bed and then snuck back to the computer when they were asleep, hehe. Then I snuck back to my bed for a few minutes when I heard their alarm go off. I think I was playing Warcraft 2. The second night, I fell asleep at the computer and...wow, I was in so much trouble when I slept through my parents' alarm clock and they discovered me.

When I was around 4-5, before my parents got a computer, I was addicted to Bubble Bobble on the NES. I played until I had a blister on my right thumb from sliding back and forth between the A and B buttons to jump on the bubbles. Kept playing with the blister on my thumb. When I had the stomach flu, I stopped feeling sick when I had a NES controller in my hands, haha. Eventually, I got so good that I went through the game + bonus levels, then went through it a second time (you have to play through it again once you beat level 100) and didn't die once. I don't think I've ever been so devoted to a game since then.

i once played d2 for about 9 hours straight at a pc place. probably the only food i had in my was a can of soda or two, but that was pretty much it. man, i had no energy afterwards.
I actually did go up to Tulsa for the Oklahoma Gaming Expo, so that was probably it.
Damn, I was thinking about going up to the expo. I had no idea CAGs were gonna go.

I would have liked to play ya. I'm pretty proud of my Mario Kart skills.

dunno how this compares, but I'll try

over 500 hours logged into everquest 2 since my character was created on 1/18/2005

I used to keep all the stats I had in Tecmo Super Bowl (NES) in a notebook. I had over 30 seasons of stats written down. I don't know where that notebook is now though.

Off the top of my head:

Beat Rygar (NES) the same day I got it. Still never figured out what the blue capsules were for.

I beat Bionic commando the day I got it when I was 11, straight through about 4 hours of play while my Mom held the reset button for the last half hour, because I was gonna turn it off since it was a Christmas present and didn't want to beat it so quick.

Played on the big screen at the semis at the Nintendo World Championships and won SMB3 before it was released. Then beat it the next day.

Played and beat FFIII in a single sitting for 29 hours over a weekend, only stopping for piss and food. (in that order) There was an indentation on the floor from my ass/body.

I've beaten well over 300 different games, console and pc.

Destroyed GoW two nights. (8:12)

Beat PoP Sands of time in two days. (7:34)

Proud owner of Kaboom, Pitfall and River Raid patches I got when I was 5.

EDIT: Ranked between 67th and 71st overall in the world (from the UTstats homepage) for a 4 month period before I quit when the Original UT was released for PC. (over 30,000 people were registered at that time)

I could go on and on, don't even ask me about Wing Commander III...

I beat MGS 2 without killing anyone except bosses and collected 100% of the tags including snake's.
I masturbate to video games-- to games like Mortal Kombat, Eco the Dolphin, Rayman, and Luigi's Mansion.
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance tempted me quite a bit.... :bouncy::bouncy:

I played Diablo 2 for 18-24 hours more than once.

What about Wing Commander III.

And yes, I know it's a trap.

I installed WC3, I played that game straight through for 3 days, stopping only for sleep once after the first two day stretch. Tie Fighter took a little longer. Those were the days, now I'm like an adult and stuff. I'm a genetically perfect gamer, my grandmother started me on Pong at 2 1/2, I only need about 4 hours sleep a night and I can go over two days without sleeping (thanks Art Institute).

I may stay up all night and finish GTA:SA or Area51 tonight just to prove to myself I can still hack it ;)

There's more than one heros and all of there abilities are different. Lots of strategy and thinking involved. Wow I can imagine you using ten units and all of them end up dying. LoL. Well to be fair, probably one of them will live if you're lucky. Dota is tight. I guess sometimes its too complicated for people.

I have logged too many hours into the Tekken series... I got every single character in Tekken 5 to Tekken Lord rank... and if you've played that game, that's alot fo characters and alot of time jsut to do that... and I still play the game like crazy...

I did that in 2 hours blindfolded. Too easy.

I unlocked every character in Marvel vs Capcom in 30 seconds! Sweet little game save sharing dreamcast.
I played an entire season in franchise mode of Madden straight.
That's not that bad..we did that on NCAA 06 yesterday. The people that are really hardcore are the ones who type out the rosters on their Xbox using their controller. I'm a panzy and just used Action Replay to download them.

I used to do lan parties in high school, 20 people in my friends basement playing UT CS and all sorts of games from 12 noon to 12 noon. Oh and we enjoyed ddr, and not of all of us were skinny :D
