You think you're hardcore?
Damn, I was thinking about going up to the expo. I had no idea CAGs were gonna go.

I would have liked to play ya. I'm pretty proud of my Mario Kart skills.
Well you see, I'm actually from Wichita Falls originally, before I moved to Austin some years ago. I still visit occasionally. Though I really havent played Mario Kart in over a year now.

Beat Alien Hominid for Gamecube without getting hit ONCE

Beat Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 and MAXED everything out within 25 hours (straight)

Beat .Hack//Sign series in a gaming madness of 73:30 in one sitting, save for the necessaries like bathroom, breathing, pissing, eating,in that order.

I dropped out of my first college because of games. I flunked my classes due to Starcraft and Duke Nukem 3D. But come to think of it, it was a good thing to do because now I ended up in a much better university.

Grandma loathes doctors.

Grandma hates doctors almost as much as she hates not being able to finish Fatal Frame.

Whenever she is honest when they inquire about her lifestyle (i.e., "So what do you do for fun? Gamble, smoke controlled substances, dismember transients, illegally download Madonna tunes, smoke controlled substances, eat red meat, what?") and she mentions gaming, they breathe the heavy sigh of a parent who discovers Little Billy doesn't know the birds from the bees and say... well, it usually goes like this:

Doctor Dipshit - "I hear your knee hurts a lot since the operation, and that you're an artist. So what else do you do besides painting?"

Grandma - "I play video games, mostly."

Doctor Dipshit - "You what?"

Grandma - "You know, PS2, XBox, GameCube, a little DS if I'm stuck somewhere..."

Doctor Dipshit - "What games do you play, exactly? Solitaire?"

Grandma - "Well, right now I'm playing Xenosaga II"

Doctor Dipshit - "And what is this.. Zebra Soccer Two, what kid of a game is it?"

Grandma - "It's a role playing game."

Doctor Dipshit - "Ah!"

Grandma - ".....yeah."

Doctor Dipshit - "So...... [long academic pause]....do you think that maybe this role playing game has made it so you cannot distinguish reality from fantasy? Are you playing a role right now? Does your Pokemon character's knee hurt? And perhaps maybe that's why your knee is hurting, that maybe it's all in your head?"

Grandma - "....."

Doctor Dipshit - "........"

Grandma - "How fucking stupid do you think I am?"

At one time years ago, I could get all the way to Super Macho man in Mike Tyson's Punch Out, with my back turned to the TV. Remember when you could send pictures to Nintendo Power?(don't know if they still do it, haven't picked up the mag in 12 years) I was one of the first people to break the highest possible score on Super Mario World, and send in my picture....damn its a wonder I ever got laid in highschool.

How do you exceed the highest possible?

In the first 8 months or so of Halo PC's existence, I logged over 1000+ hours in multiplayer. The same can be said of Halo 2. Including Halo 1 LANs, Halo PC, and Halo 2, I think I've logged in the area of 3500-4000 hours of actual playtime. That's 5 solid months; all this in a 3-year-ish span. The longest stretch I ever played was a 4-day LAN, with the longest actual stretch of play being somewhere in the 20-hour range without a break. I got somewhere around 16 hours of sleep during that entire 4 days, and ate pretty much nothing but ramen, PB&J, pizza, and soda.

When I was about 11, I wrecked my bike while riding with a friend and tore my knee open. He helped me limp home, my Mom tended to my wound, and my friend and I sat down and played Super Mario World, start to finish, every level, in one sitting. I forget how long it took, somewhere in the 5-hour range I think.

Do not speak to me of core.

I was playing Diablo 2 in Open B.net, when 2 hacked chars attacked me. IDK how, but I killed both, and then when they respawned, I killed em again.

And, I've beaten DOA3 on the hardest setting without even looking at the screen in Tag Team mode without changng partners, unless my one partner got KO'd. My nephew couldn't believe it.
How is ruining your eyesight a gaming feat?
Let's see... I've done a fair amount of crazy stuff with my NES games in the past few years.
Contra - beat without dying
Zelda 1 - Beat in 57 minutes | Got to Ganon without a sword
Zelda 2 - Beat game with 1 Attack, 1 Magic, and 8 Life
And I've beaten Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time with only 3 heart containers.
I beat Splinter cell : CT in like 20 hours.... oh right never mind.

I beat Fable in like 12 hours. It is amazing 11 days passed in the game, However my dude was like 48 and I spent 3 years in jail. Anyone could beat it and probably faster that was my first time through and I had no help at all. I only played the main quests and did little else. I was a little disappointed in its length. I guess they try to make up for it by having lots of stuff to do.

The most "Hardcore" I got was:

FF 7, every characters level 99, all materia maxed out, Golden Chocobo, just about damn near perfect game with well over 200 hours.

King of Fighters 2K2 - 140 wins in survival mode with Clark Steel.

Mega Man 2 - Completion time around 40 minutes, Hard mode, didn't die at all.

I'm nowhere near hardcore. Hell, these days I can barely even be called a "gamer".

The closest I ever came to "hardcore" would probably be with THPS3, when I completely completed (fuck you, it's late  ) the game with every character, 4-5 per day. Most I've ever played any game consecutively was 16 hours in Fallout, 10am - 2am.

I generally switch games around every 30 minutes. So it's rather hard to be "hardcore" in any single game.

EDIT:But I have been playing games consistently since about age 4 (started with Wolfenstein 3D).

To the OP: not blinking is stupid, not hardcore.

i am teh hardcore!!!1

eViDeNCe:

1) when i was 9, my dad and mom let me stay home from school to beat the original super mario bros., and when i finally did i:

a) videotaped it
b) cried

not kidding.

2) when i got my snes for christmas i played street fighter II for 17 hours straight. i only took bathroom breaks; my parents brought me food.

best childhood evuh!!!1

I imported a Japanese Soul Calibur II for Gamecube and my firend and I played it for 24 hours in the first 34 hours that I had it. Then he had to go to school, so I slept for 8 hours and played it some more.

Total time = 200 hours Japanese GC SCII, 150 hours American SCII, about 45 minutes American PS2 SCII, and 15 hours Xbox SCII. Not too bad. . . Yeah, I own 4 copies of SCII.
I've played through Enter the Matrix three times....and liked it...a lot...seriously.
Thats not hardcore, thats inhuman.

I played Super Mario RPG nonstop for two days and beat it only to stop to piss and get water.

In SOCOM 2 I became so good I killed all eight players on the other team in a single round.

I beat FFVII the same way I beat SM RPG.

Between PSO (currently playing the Blue Burst), FFXI and WoW I probrably logged in over 2000 hours.

I do not think I am hardcore... just insane.

I guess the most hardcore thing I've ever done when it comes to gaming is when my cousin and I played Final Fantasy 3 for several days straight. We never stopped playing and would take turns so the other could eat and go to the bathroom.

We started the game from the beginning and didn't stop until we beat the game. Now that I think of it, that was pretty damn hardcore.

I used to be "hardcore" when I was younger but that was just because I had so much more time to waste. The most recent hardcore thing I've don was when OoT came out and I skipped work for 3 days until I beat it but that was almost 7 years ago. I guess I'm more casual now since I only get to play about 3 hours a week if I'm lucky. Either way though we have to face facts:
I once sat in front of Super Mario World for seven hours straight without blinking.

I started playing Super Mario Bros 3 on the SNES when I was three. Playing so long without blinking gave me massive headaches and eventually resulted in vision loss. Both of my eyes are 20/40, and I wear glasses that are half an inch thick.
Dumbass, you were blinking you just didn't realise it.

If you didn't blink for 7 hours your eyes would completely dry out and you probably would be blind now.

I think the only awesome thing did was max out my chrono trigger characters and had my max of about every item possible minus 20-30 here and there. too bad i sold it for 14 bucks when i was in high school.
I'm so hardcore I actually know that SMB3 was released for the NES, not the SNES -- joker.
FF 7, every characters level 99, all materia maxed out, Golden Chocobo, just about damn near perfect game with well over 200 hours.
Yeah, I did something like that for FF7 and 8... FF7- Master Materia for all three active party members, and all characters Lv. 99. FF8 - everyone Lv 100, with maxed draws for all active party members... I impressed some friends with those files... Tonberries were still a pain in FF7 though. Still working on maxing out everyone in FF6 and Chrono Trigger.

This is either hardcore or pathetic:

On my 21st birthday, instead of going out and getting sloppy drunk, I beat Super Mario Bros. without dying. My next goal is to beat the game without dying, and fireball Bowser to death. Whee.

I beat Donkey Kong Country in around 4-4.5 hours with 101%. Don't remember if that was one sitting.

I haven't been able to play a game for hours and hours on end since FF8 and Mario 64. Although last year, I played through Max Paine 2 in one sitting...

And, lately, I've been playing that Helicopter game on this website until my clicking finger hurts. I am completely addicted. I wish my high score reflected that... :\
Ever been to Tulsa? I believe my friend Kevin had a game with you.

Oh, and the hardcoreness...um, nothing really. I could probably school you in Day of Reckoning for Cube.
i would love to take up that dor challenge

Not that I've never done something similar but I'd have to say pathetic. Also, beating Super Mario Bros. without dying (all 32 levels) and fireballing Bowser at the end of each X-4 level is quite easy. If I can do it anyone can (I think)... Although I have been playing it since 1985 or so... god I'm a tool.

Super Mario All-Stars. The three NES games plus the Lost Levels, the Japanese SMB2. ;)

If this is how you guys define "hardcore" these days...well, call me a casual gamer. I've never done anything like what's been mentioned here, and I'm not planning on it.

I will, though, freely admit to being a dork. :D
I will, though, freely admit to being a dork. :D
If I were you I'd be OK with admitting I was a "geek" or "nerd" but a dork is just a penis - I wouldn't go around saying that... :D

Hm.. I used to play the hell out of Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles. I beat all 3 3D Grand Theft Auto's for PS2 without cheating or using guides (100%). I played the hell out of Tekken 3 and 5. In 5, I'm an above average player, not one of the best in the country or anything like that.. but if you're a n00b, you're getting perfect'd. A lot of the time I play Street Fighter online all night... I'm just bored and lonely :( I need a new girl.

I've played every Mario Bros. game on NES start to finish, every level no continues. On SMB 3 I had 99 lives after the 2nd level and never looked back.

I've played through and beaten Super Contra four times without dying (the game gets harder each time).

Beaten TMNT 2: Arcade Game without continuing. Hell, beaten TMNT.

Maxed out the score on Collumns on GameGear, and then the batteries died (after having a max score for about 2 hours).

Beaten Mike Tyson's Punchout flawlessly.
I once sat in front of Super Mario World for seven hours straight without blinking.
Which, if true, would result in your eyes being dried up like rasins. You did blink, an average of 25 times per minute.

I got sick and beat PoP:Sands of time, Devil May Cry 1, Spiderman 1 in one sitting. I had a 104 fever after that and had to go to the hospital.
I've....travelled around offering up to $1K to anyone who could beat me in Super Mario Kart...no charge
Oh its on like Donkey Kong!!!!

Similarly I killed 4 people and 1 of my own people without firing a shot, including the winning kill. Seriously. Prox mines work wonders

wow the biggest thing ive done is play guild wars for 14 hours 10 pm to 10 am without even getting up to go the bathroom or food but i did have 2 or 3 sodas on my desk.

Games I'll be looking for at the flea market this summer:
-Blasto
-Tunnel B1 (repurchase)
-40 Winks
-Simpsons Wrestling (had a "backup" copy)
-Salt Lake 2002
-a poker game

I'll buy, play, and beat all the ones I can find.

You think you're more hardcore than I am? Prove it. Post your most awesome gaming feat.
Your profile shows you were born in 1986. There was no SNES version of SMB3 in 1989.

EDIT: Seems this was already mentioned. Oh well.

My achievements include:

...finished Panzer Dragoon Orta on hard...
...completed Metal Gear Solid 2 on the day it was released...
...bested Castlevania on one life...

Probably the most hardcore thing ive done is back when I played FFXI...

Well, I started playing FFXI almost exactly after I got laid off, ended up playing it for about 9 months give or take. I know thats no big deal... the bad part was my play time after those 9 months was around 6 months, all I did for the entire time of my unemployment was play that game, smoke, eat, and sleep. You know its bad when every day you log out, roll into bed, sleep, wake up, roll out of bed, and play.

Not my feat, or a feat per se, but my grandpa had a heartattack from playing Frogger and died as a result. I have beaten Super Metroid 500+ times and have the same save that I have been using since I got the game. yeah, I am not hardcore at all, I just like Super Metroid.

Personally, I've done quite a lot, but these are my most notable:

-Unlocked every character in Guilty Gear XX by clearing survival mode... (could never do it again after that :p Then again, it's been close to a year since I even picked up GGXX... I'm beyond rusty)

-Actually FINISHED Deadly Towers

-Played through a full, 2.5 year game of Harvest Moon (SNES) in one sitting

-Finished Crystalis and The Legend of Zelda in one consecutive sitting

-Beat Breath of Fire III - Average party level of 28

-Finished Star Ocean 2 - Average party level of 85

-Finished EarthBound - Average party level of 29

-Finished Chrono Trigger - Average level -34

-Completed Sakura Taisens 1, and 4 without a translation or guide. Endings: Maria (1), Sakura(4)

... in short, I'm a fucking nerd. :p

I used to be so hardcore in video games.I always complete every game with all secrets and max stats or items.Since joining cheapassgamer my hardcore title has vanish due more games then I can handle. Now I just beat the game.

Some of my hardcore achievement or utter waste of time:
-play 30 straight hours on Kartia(a few bathroom breaks)

-Beat Chrono Trigger 30 times and max every stats even Ayla Magic.Full playthrough on most of them.27 rainbow sword, moon armor, masamune, etc

-Max lvl and all secrets on FF III snes and FF VI ps1

-FFX complete with all secrets and trying max and fill over 75% of the sphere grid till I got bored

-Diablo pc & Expansion play over 300+ hours.lvl 99 bowzon,95 firesorc and bunch of lvl 90 + chars

-play over 200+ hours on pokemon red and blue, memorize all attacks, damage, weakness,tm pokemon location

-Complete over 20-30 rpgs with all secrets and max chars

-beat metroid prime about 2 hours and 15 min trying to get samus without a suit.Sadly rumor was false
