Your collection - post a photo - show us what'cha got!

I got my two shelves set up. It's nice to have shelves again... but still so cold and empty. 
 
I'm using a old TV we had back home in the basement. It's shit. My parents said I could have one of the newer/bigger TVs but neither fit in my car... 


 
I got a pretty good mix going. I was finally able to score some of my biggest (and most expensive) wants in PD Saga, a complete Space Station Silicon Valley GBC, and fully complete Pokemon Box. None of them are in the best shape but I'm glad I got pretty good prices for them. I also scored a damn rare Last of Us Press Kit, along with an extra USB sound track cassette (though the case is broken... anyone got any spare, empty Sony tape cassette cases? :lol:).

Yeah, it's a really old UHF/VHF HDTV antenna. I need to rig it to the wall somehow but haven't gotten around to it.

I won't lie, the color does stick out under normal light (more so than it looks in the pic) but it's just as good as the one I bought in 2004 or 05. Color is closer to a black than red though, just as you said. It's amazing that even after all these years, it's still the same build quality and same price. Other shelves have dropped in terms of quality without any drop in price but this shelf is still the best deal out there. I really like the new book case too. The Sauder would sit perfectly atop it when things start to get full.:)

I don't know how tall your ceiling is, but you could just do what I did and combine two of them together. ;D

Except that I don't need space. And I don't plan to live here for more than I have to. This place is too expensive and too inconvenient. If I do have to move shit out of my parents house, I'll just leave it in the boxes.

I see you have two the of the Game.co Zelda editions. How did they mail yours? Mine came deconstructed with just the two boxes (not folded/made), two games, and two chests. Is there any kind of cardboard in there to keep them the correct shape?

I got one of the posters in the mail last week, but I didn't get the second. Did you happen to get two of them? I tried contacting them, but no response as of yet.

I keep track of everything on The Backloggery (here's mine). It's fairly basic, but it provides me with everything I need and I really enjoy using it.

Dude, you're lucky. Mine were shipped fully assembled. They were placed in a flimsy box, overloaded with air bubbles. The shipping boxes were destroyed and both of my boxes sustained heavy damage, since the CE box is basically made of stock paper. What you're seeing is the best side of the boxes, after I spent an hour ironing them to straighten them out (they look really bad in person). One of the treasure boxes I got doesn't close properly (still makes the sound when opened though). No help from GAME of course.

I didn't get any sort of insert which holds the game/treasure box in place. This is a very poorly designed package.

Damn, sorry to hear that. I never dealt with GAME before, and they don't seem very useful. My box was also crushed and full of air bubbles, but due to the outside box not being constructed it is in I'd say Excellent/Near mint or something condition. A tiny tiny bit of wear but not bad.

I guess I shouldn't hold out much hope for getting my poster, or the other DS code they owe me from preordering.

Yeah. The boxes do make a full scene if you display the front of one and the back of the other. I don't have that option though... I was wrong, that's how the scene is supposed to be. It only looks weird because Zelda is there twice, but if you follow the scenery on the individually boxes, that's how it flows, from the side to the front.

I've dealt with GAME multiple times... it's a nightmare-ishly bad company. I had my pre-orders cancelled and items damaged before but they keep getting exclusives CEs somehow. I contacted their support and they told me I could return the items for a refund at my expense (and no refund on the shipping I paid). I'm still arguing with them and will probably file a chargeback with my CC given how much I paid for these.

Boxes in good condition are going for pretty hefty prices on eBay UK. I was thinking I could replace mine easily until I saw them going for $40+... just the outside boxes. So I guess I'm not the only one who got screwed. You are indeed very lucky to boxes with minimal damage.

Speaking of codes/posters, I only got 1 code but they did send me two posters. I actually no idea about the posters but they're not that great/special anyway.

Yes, exactly! I especially like that I type everything myself so all of the titles are labeled the way I want them to be. Really, the only thing I feel like the site is lacking is the ability to add cover art.

 
Picked up a 5x5 Expedit for when basement is finished. Most likely will be used to display my figures (currently in glass IKEA display cases)

I read about him in the latest Game Informer. Interesting that they don't include computer games. I think he says about a third of his collection is sealed. Needler needs to give him a stern lecture.

Also to Ferrari Racer, I know it's off topic but I love that window. It's like you're living in a Hobbit house.

Nothing wrong with sealed games but with that many, I'd feel paranoid that many of them where actually re-seals/empty inside.

I've had that worry in the past too, but after opening them over and over again I've come to realize I was just being a paranoid bastard. :p

 
I hate looking at these collections.  It always makes me think that mine is miniscule until normal humans visit and act like I have a video superstore in my basement.  In a way they're right, if you categorize Squarehard's as a museum-sized collection.

No museum would display a collection like Square's. Museums would only display the best/most iconic/rarest stuff. Square's collection is more like a library, except that it would be popular among everyone and not just hobos who want to use the bathroom.

I'd say its a mixture of a few things, rare stuff, but also lots of other stuff that's not so much, and some stuff that's meh, but definitely closer to a library since the collection is for use, and not just for display. Practicality over collecting, although that line is not always completely separate. ;D

I figured I'll post one of the more absurd parts of my collection: every retail version of the official 360 controller. Yeah, apparently I really like mushy d-pads ... I don't have much of a presentation since they're a hodgepodge of packaging types, plus I have a bunch of loose ones. The toughest were the light blue and green versions that weren't released in the U.S. Not because they're that rare but searching online often yields mod kits, etc.

I never realized there were so many 360 controllers... damn, that's impressive man!:D Talk about dedication!:lol:

 
He's missing a wired controller :D/ but there are a few controllers that would be extremely hard to come by. One that comes to mind because I wanted the system was the Simpsons Yellow controller, it was only available through a contest and I know they had a few like these several years ago.

After a little searching the last contest console they had was the 10 years of live console with a greyish controller, there is one on ebay with a bid of $999. =X

He did say he's collecting retail controllers, so I'm guessing he's passing on those... for now.

I actually have black and white wired controllers (lower right of photo). Got both really cheap. My obsession started when I got the halo controllers cheap at Kmart five years ago.

There are a couple "special" controllers given as promotions. I think there were only 100 Simpsons consoles made, which is why I kept my obsession to retail-only. I saw an ebay listing that admited it was a custom Simpsons console and I couldn't tell the difference. No way I'd ever pay a lot if I couldn't be sure it was legit.

Ultimately I'll probably sell most of them now that my obsession is sated (and assuming no more are released). Won't make much but since I got many cheap or with store credit, it won't be like a box full of Beanie Babies.
 
The molding? Yeah, been that way since I built the shelves. Have little motivation to fix it since the room is the man cave and the wife rarely spends time there :p

One day...

I also hate when you have to move stuff down a row or in your case, "Time to build a new shelf!"

Some close-ups of the ol' SNES/SFC collection.  Someone on TCP asked about seeing closer pics, so I figured I'd post 'em here too.  Still about 30 to case up, plus I'm sorta thinking about going to black with the SFC games so I can intermingle them.  It annoys me to have them separate.   Plus I may create a slightly modded template for the repros too, so that they can be differentiated from the rest.  I'm sure I'll get to it real soon with all my free time :/

I need to find some cheap shelving. I have about 400 games, and about 200 accessories/consoles/controllers/guitars/drumsets/other stuff are scattered around my basement.
