I can tell all of you from experience sealed games are worth more than opened ones. This really shouldn't be a debate.

I buy a game and keep it sealed until I want to play it. Usually I can get 2-3 times what I paid for it plus I can usually buy an opened copy for under $5.

I don't know why a lot of you think of them as an investment, does it make you guys feel better spending money on games than something you actually need? Sure it's cool if 10 years from now you can sell them for more than what you paid for, but there are way better things to invest in than video games.

I like putting them in boxes and crates, so when I open the lid I get that feeling of having TREASURE TREASURE TREASURE.

It's a bad addiction, especially when you can sell a little bit of that horde for a small profit. That just fuels the cycle, until finally you have a full-grown pirate beard and a galley and you start burying chests of games in secret locations.

Personally I think of everything I buy as an investment. I have plenty of money, so I don't need to justify spending it. I just try to be mindful of potential value before I open things. The only downside is I feel guilty opening anything before I look it up. I wouldn't recommend investing in games, I just think it is a good idea to leave stuff sealed until you are ready to use it (or If you can sell part of it like DLC).

A good woman that lets you play games with out nagging you. God I love my woman, she really does have all the patience in the world when it comes to my hobbies. She does refuse to go to TRU with me though!!!!

I can see the point you guys make, maybe if I collected some of the games you guys do *puts bulletproof vest on*
I'm not really into RPG's
, I do like playing them but don't get into them like a lot of you do. A lot of those games are the ones that retain there value and are worth money, so maybe that's where my negativity comes from, that and I don't like selling stuff. I do have a lot of hard to find/rare games but I wouldn't see myself selling my crap.

Yep. I collect mostly RPGs. I don't see a point in buying Modern Warfare, or Infamous, etc at release for MSRP and keeping them sealed either. I think the only non-RPG, non-LE I have that has any decent value is... NOTHING.

Edit: I take that back, there are some shmup type games that are worth a chunk, like MUSHA and Einhander.

Oh geez... not this argument again.

I'll just say this, if you think games are meant to played, then play them. Don't let me pursuade you into keeping them sealed like they were prized trophies. But what's it to you if somebody keeps sealed copies and decides to collect them? I mean, seriously... is your family dying of violent diarrhea because I've got some sealed games?

And way too many of think that those of us with sealed games are doing it purely for an investment purpose. I've got lots of sealed games which I simply haven't gotten to yet and have come to the realization that I probably never will. And then there's a few games that I bought, which are second copies or which I have no intention of playing, simply because they were cheap.

I collect, but I'm not to the extreme. I'm nearing 300 PS3 games. Aside from some Collector Editions or games I really wanted to play, I usually wait for price drops.

I have a lot of sealed games, but not for investment purpose, they were cheaper to buy new than used. Most of the time its a game I won't get to playing.

Also, I may retake pictures when I get to 300.

I guess my biggest reason for preferring opened copies to sealed copies is that since I don't have room for all my cases (which are stored in another area), I take all my discs and put them in CD cases. It makes showing off your collection so much easier and WAY lighter to carry around to your friends to play.

What happened to the peace and love? Seal vs unsealed= to each their own imho. Anyway though I had a really good find out in the wild today to add to my collection.

Warning to all cheap ass gamers (I paid about what they normally go for except a few things) It was a thrill to find in the wild.

That's why the other guy is a toad. Sealed games really aren't worth more unless you go back to the NES/SNES. Again the group of people that don't play them first is very slim and with all the re-releases these days there's hardly any reason to buy an overpriced sealed game when so many other copies are available. Our collections have value but they aren't investments. I collect to play because THAT'S where the value is. To think otherwise is a fantasy. It's just a plastic disc in a box.

In the end people buying multiple copies just to keep them sealed are just pissing away their money. If you truly intended to make a profit you need to collect before everyone else does the same. That's why you can sell a box for an NES game but couldn't give away a case to a modern disc game.

Whatever, for the sake of the topic let it stand there. I hate you Kermit, lol. I want to try that Tron Bonne game since I missed it back in the day.

I got lucky with Tron Bonne, I think I payed $18 shipped for it on eBay with the disc. I don't think the seller knew what he had because that was the bin price. I'm surprised that DC game sells for that much. >_
The game really didn't pick up much value until she showed in MvC3. I wish they would make sequels to the Tron Bonne/Legends games though, they were pretty fun.
:wall: I just checked completed listings on eBay and OMG.... I can't believe it is selling for that much, I guess there is a lot of happy and upset people at the same time. When I picked it up it was normally selling for around $50, I don't think its worth $90 but that is just me.
Legends 3 is coming out on the 3DS
Great news to hear!

Tron Bonne has been valuable for awhile now, long before MVC3. However, at one point it was practically worth nothing. I picked up a copy at EBGames in 2004 for $2.99. I never heard of the game but it looked pretty cool so I bought it. That's the only time I've ever seen a copy at a store again.

Funny, as that's *exactly* how I got my copy of the game, too. (Well, I actually knew what it was when I saw it.)

Sadly, my copy has some small scratches. It still plays fine, but the collector in me isn't 100% satisfied with the condition of the disc.

The best part was the look on the clerks face as I walked it up to purchase. (He, obviously, wanted it.) I think he was pissed that he didn't know they had a copy of the game in his store.

Great finds!
I remember having a chance to buy Tron Bonne for $20 @ a KB Toys that was closing near my University but my friend said "why are you buying that kiddy shit" and I self-consciously put it back. Dammit!

Despite being some years later and about $80 difference this happened to me too. The employee looked pissed that I was actually buying it and not just looking at it. haha

That's how I got my copies of Tomba and Ico. Bought them cheap before they became rare. Guess you can't find 'em all. The Legends series was pretty good, I have and finished the first 2.

My one buddy bought Tron Bonne from Capcom's website years ago for $20 (and I'm guessing shipping also on top of that) and it came with the guide book free.

Back then it wasen't bad but surely not a mind blowing deal but looking back it seems like a steal with what it goes for now online.

Kicking smoking could be one option.

Trying to take pictures of my collection today made me realize one major problem: I have really unsteady hands. It took me several tries to get acceptable pictures. Oh well. Bow before my mighty organizational skills (and by that I mean I'm messy).

Current gen stuff:
current1.jpg

current2.jpg
Includes pretty much all my LEs, I guess. My proudest one is currently the Arcana Heart 3 LE, not that it's anything special. I need more shelves, but I'm too cheap and lazy to get them, so whatever. You can also see my 3 arcade sticks. I finally taped up the SE stick, so I might use that one some more.

The Wii is sitting there all nicely, but it hasn't been turned on in months. Maybe I should put it away. The xbox is downstairs (and also hasn't really been turned on in months), so I decided against a picture of the tv and consoles.

Older gen stuff and handheld:
old1.jpg
Not much changed here. 1 more PSP game (3rd Birthday), bringing my total to a whopping 3. I don't collect old games - sold off all my NES, SNES, TG16, PS1 games ages ago. All I have left are the PS1 games I really loved - Silent Hill, Tales, Parasite Eve, etc.

Blus:
blu.jpg
I was really struggling to find a place to even put these. They were originally in the figure shelf, but I got a new bookshelf (which holds, amazingly enough, books) and took a shelf for blus. Unfortunately I'm out of room so I'll need a new solution soon.

Figures:
figs.jpg
These take up way too much space. The bottom shelf is filled with CDs, but it's also my storage space for random crap, so I can't show you that. You can already see the mess bleeding up a level. And this is after I moved a bunch of stuff too.

Artbooks:
books.jpg
The 2 random artbooks on the far right I got solely because they were dirt cheap and because I needed to meet a minimum for free shipping on an order. I don't even really want them much. The rest I'm pretty proud of.

Well, I re-arranged things around again, and then of course picked up some stuff from last time.

So here's the updates.

Well, that's pretty much it.

It'll probably shift around again in another month, so we'll see.

I have alot of games, but most of them are on spindles while the cases are in a big red box somewhere...
the ones in this pic are my babies ^^ I take very good care of em :3

Bought this SEGA Cabinet to house my rarer Sonic plushes. There's about $3000 worth of plushes in there right now.

It used to be in a store like Target or Wal-Mart to hang Genesis games. It has lights but there's no outlet where i put it.

Nice collection. U got the case from Target or Walmart? I never seen it before. It's looks like a great case. How much u end up purchase for?

Do u know if they ever release the Sonic on DVD? I think it came on early morning on Fox TV? Sonic father was turned into a robot. It's not the other later Sonics which was bad. If u know what I mean, maybe u know how the show ended???
So Urkel was Sonic? Did not know that.
Crazy... that's like Uncle Phil voicing Shredder or Mr. Feeney voicing KITT.

This is a photo of my entire collection. It has changed a lot since this photo, but just add about 40-50 games and that's where it is now.

Oh, I wasn't doubting their worth, I was just surprised is all. Of course, now that I see how old they are, I'm not surprised... that's pretty insane though, $600 for a plush.

I'm gonna start a plush collection now.

Nah.. I'm not gonna do that.
