How did you get it? I've been trying to convince employees to sell me displays for years. I thought the LEGO displayed are picked up by lego reps? (meaning they aren't trashed like normal displays.)

I just took it home lol. Their not to be sold, so an employee can't sell it to you. I never seen a lego rep before, we receive the display and set it up ourselves. I can't speak for all retailers but we Thrash them unless someone wants it. One of my co workers took the star wars one. It was nice, had the x wing & other ships. If I liked SW i would of displayed it in my room. He called dips on it when it first came in.. Had to wait almost a year till it wasn't needed no more.
Been awhile since you posted some pics Vinny. GOGO!
I posted my collection a few months ago... but it has changed quite a bit, mainly since I had to do a lot of reorganizing and put in my ghetto shelf. I'll post some pics next weekend if I get the chance.

You'd have those same issues with putting Nintendo stuff in there though. That display was designed around that set and I honestly think it would look really bad with anything but that exact Lego set in there.

Obviously, it's your call but I really do think it looks awesome and I'm not even a huge Lego fan myself.

You know perfectly well a few months is probably more than enough time for a collection to change completely. For me it's on a weekly basis. ~_~

Less posting them and more selling them. :booty:

Sell the Lego display (you can prolly get a decent chunk of change for it) and then build or buy a display that works better for gaming.

As much as we are pretty crazy about gaming, I'm pretty sure the Lego fanatics are just as nutty about keeping things in their original condition and would cry if they saw that thing torn apart to house Playstation games :(

I know I would, and I'm hardly a fanatic.

By 'sell' I mean I would donate to whatever charity they try to collect for at the registers. I did donate to walmart's charity and got a huge Batman Frito Lay display.

I think your right, it would be probably be a ***** to modify to make it Nintendo theme. I was thinking of using it to house my Club Nintendo figurine & other Japan imports but I probably just goto Micheal's/Amazon and get a display case from them.....

I don't think I'll sell it, if anything I most likely give it to someone who would appreciate it more. Unless I move and get bigger room, then I'll put it up some where. It means it does look nice........

It's not worth much anyway... there was one listed on eBay for ~$160 and it didn't sell.

I once saw someone use those Lego road pieces (it was for one of their race car sets) to build a track and use other Lego pieces to build a bleachers, trees, etc. and use those Mario Kart figures GS sold to build a Super Mario Kart set. They even had some gold coin stickers on the track (I think they were just color prints on adhesive paper that the guy made). That was pretty awesome.

stupid greedy people wouldnt let them get the license to that song. if a song appears on a show then it should automatically be allowed on the dvd. i hate such BS like that.

If it lights on fire he'll have time to put it out before it hits the carpet.

The NSMB2 steelbook was a Future Shop pre order bonus. I think it's exclusive to Canada.

I love fight sticks. I've been meaning to get into modding when I get some time. I'm going to turn that SSIV TE into a Blazblue themed one featuring either Arakune or Taokaka (my mains). I have an image in my head of an all black Arakune stick with white artwork and purple led buttons.

Thanks Vinny.

No, it's probably not that safe. Unfortunately, there's only two power outlets in my basement so I have 100 feet of extension cables and power bars running accross the ceiling to try and keep everything off the floor in case of flooding or a water tank blowout. Not pictured; the mess of wires and power bars hanging over my guitar amps and mic stands but you get the idea:)

That's my favorite too. First thing I did when I set up the TG station was to cut open the NIB R-Type to play but it ended up playing me. Took me two hours to beat the first level:dunce:

LOL! Yeah, R-Type isn't exactly a cakewalk. I've been pwned by pretty much every title in the series a number of times. It's not even like it's a crazy, hectic bulletstorm of a SHMUP. I often wonder why it's so damned tough. All I know is that it's not to be trifled with :)

Is SNES R-Type good? I've always wanted an SNES - well since I gave mine back to the guy who gave it to me - he missed it too. There's about 5 or 6 games I can't get anywhere else (in physical form) that I'd love to give a shelf to. Plus I've never played Super Metroid or Earthbound before.

Even my wife has played and beat Super Metroid. As for Earthbound, I'm starting to think a cart only copy wouldn't be such a bad thing

It's worth it for Super Meteoid alone. Earthbound has always been sorta "meh" to me. The hype is just that in my opinion. There are far better and cheaper RPGs for the SNES if you ask me.

Let me put on my smug hat for a moment.

Earthbound is one of those games that wasn't awesome because of its mechanics, it was awesome because of how weird and fresh it was. It was set in a modern era (instead of some medieval/fantasy setting), with some normal kids as the main character, the most annoying arch-nemesis (fucking Pokey... the neighbor kid you've always hated), with tons of pop culture references, the best enemies (hippies), calls from your mom, and whole lot complete randomness. Plus, I loved the humor in the game, which was a nice change from all the serious JRPGs back then (besides SMRPG).

I guess you may not be able to appreciate Earthbound if you played it in the more recent years (since RPGs have come a long way since then) but I played it back in 06 and 07 and loved it for what it was.

Earthbound is pretty standard RPG if you're just looking for gameplay, but if you go into an RPG just for the gameplay, then you're playing the wrong genre.

Agreed! 100%
I agree that Earthbound is way overhyped, but I'd say it's still worth playing. It's just not worth the price for a physical copy.
Agreed.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on it. I played it though about 15 years ago and enjoyed doing so. It's just nothing to get super excited about for me and DEFINITELY NOT worth 150+ for a stupid loose cart. That's horse shit IMO. I'll play in on my Xbox/PS2/Dreamcast if I really want to, and I'm a big supporter of playing games on their original systems without emulation.

Maybe I'm just sour that it's become such a fad to own it among the newb retro collector kiddies.
Hang your head in shame.
I haven't played them either and since I have this weird purist thing where I only play games on the original US system it was released on, I have to wait until I get the actual carts.
Agreed.

I empathize with this - I got to feeling sour after some time searching for a nice Bonk 3.

Not going to lie, a large part of why I even want Earthbound in the first place is it's collectibility. It's an enigmatic game. Everything from the story to the physical packaging is odd in a way I wish more games were (and I haven't even played it yet lol).

Bought two of these shelves for under $200 shipped (B1G1 50% off, 5% and free shipping from Red Card). Ordered on Sunday, got them today.

It replaced two cheap $30 shelves that were busted up. These are supposedly wood, and not particle board. Each shelf holds up to 75lbs, which is about how much each shelf of guides weigh.

I had to downsize my strategy guide collection, It just wasn't feasable any more. I only kept the collectors edition ones as well as the ones for much older games (final fantasy 7-9, super metroid , ocarina etc)
Agreed.

I see your point, but really, that can happen with any game.

I still plan to buy a copy, someday. The collector in me can't resist.

Give me an update in a couple of months. I need some new guide shelves.

I wish I had enough room to have everything on shelves:/

About a quarter of my ps2 games are in a trunk
All of my wii games are in that trunk
A lot of LE boxes are strewn about the place wherever I can fit them
Xbox games are all in a stack
PSP games are stacked
'Bout half of my ps1 games are in a trunk
About a quarter of my 360 games are now in a stack
Every single one of my GB/GBC/GBA/N64 boxes are stored
Only have half of my artbooks in a nice shelf
My strategy guides only exist in large stacks

I seriously need just a room lined with nothing but shelves!!!
Give me an update in a couple of months. I need some new guide shelves.
Sure. There's a chip on the top from shipping/handling, and we can confirm it's not particle board. It's also not that wide, at a little over 2', so I don't think it'll warp much.

You gotta get creative. How big is your room and how many games do you have? I've got about 1200 game, 300 guides and about 50 artbooks/magazines (older, special ones) in a 10'x10' room. I don't even want to guess at the insanity of Squarehard's room...

I have 850+ games. 100 or so guides, and 60 or so artbooks. This with 100+ pieces of anime, 100+ volumes of manga, and various other things. I still live at home for the time being, though, (full time pre-med student, can't afford to move out atm) so I don't really have any control to put more shelves in the room. When I move out, I plan on using an entire room for shelves and game stuff. That plan will remain even if there is only one room... :3 lol

Squarehard's rooms must just look like anime museums! lol

That's not a bad plan actually... for when you do move out, you won't have to pack anything, you can just take the trucks with you.

hahaha. I cant even imagine the packing process. It's not only going to take forever, but it's going to be hard to keep everything from getting beat up.

I have to get my carpet stretched soon because it's got creases, so that means I'm going to have to pack everything up temporarily while they do the work on the carpet.

Not looking forward to that day. T___T

You know, if you remove the carpeting from your room, that'll give you an extra 1/4" of vertical space... so not only will you not have to deal with carpet crease, but you'll have room for 7 (maybe 8) more games! Huzzah!
