Very nice collection; love how it's all neatly organized.

I love how SH can ID shelves...

I think this forum needs an official "shelving" section at this point. We don't seem to make it two pages without shelving talk LOL!
Gimpy shelves and thinner boards? Oh noes. Do those shelves warp? An heat I finally thought I found a solution to my lack of shelving problem.
Well the old 1080 shelves don't, and the newer ones don't really either because each shelf is so short it doesn't really warp, but the main issue with the new 1080 shelves is that the shelves are a bit shorter in depth, so basically a regular DVD case will stick out a little on the shelves, and also the the boards on the side and top are a bit shorter in depth too, so basically everything sticks out a little. And it's a bit flimsier because of the weight of the shelves with the cheaper material compared to the original 1080 shelf. So it's not really a question of warping, but more quality overall and stability.

Also, what is your solution? I has a curious now! :3

If you buy the 1080s use a tbracket on the middle shelf. If not one is going to see the back put it right over the backing. It will make the shelf really solid. If you have an uneven floor, they probably include a wall anchor to keep it from tipping.

I still hate that I can't see all of your PS3 CEs...:whistle2:/

I'm almost done with my reorganzation but still have a bit of work left. I might be able to get some pics up soon though.

If only CEs fit normally on a shelf I wouldn't have that problem!
If only CEs fit normally on a shelf I wouldn't have that problem!
Just use the big ones with solid boxes as bases (Tron, AC Brotherhood, etc.) and then line up the rest on top of them (on their sides, like you do your normal collection). It'll be a bit odd but at least I'll be able see everything.:3

I actually didn't mean I had a solution...I meant I thought that shelf could've been my solution. But autocorrect happened and I didn't notice til now, so my sentence got jumbled.

One thing's for sure: this is definitely the place to discuss shelving. And for you experts out there, here's my dilemma: I have a small (in relation to some of you) game collection but I still need a decent sized shelf to display it all. I right now don't have any of my retro stuff out on display and id like to put it out, and I'm also planning to coverproject my handheld games. Here's my question: what is the biggest, nicest shelf available? Maybe something that doesn't quite go all the way to a typical ceiling but still looks like a big nice peice of furniture? I'm looking for something tall, but more wide than tall if that makes sense. And i REALLY want to avoid shelves that have a tendency to warp. Anybody have a suggestion? Or an I being too vague?

I think the Prepac shelves will probably suit the type of shelf you are looking for, but the problem with Prepac shelves are that they are incredibly expensive and rarely ever go on sale anywhere. However they do look incredibly nice and the material used are way better than the Atlantic line of shelves, especially the newer models.

Here's a link to it on Amazon, but you're going to be better off trying to find it clearance in a store somewhere.

http://www.amazon.com/Prepac-Black-Width-Media-Storage/dp/B001KW0BDI/ref=pd_sim_sbs_hg_1

But this is definitely your guy if you're more worried about warping and quality over price, but damn are they pricey.

And since your collection is still rather small you can go with the smaller Prepac ones, but that's just a suggestion if you decide to go big all at once. :D

But the same applies the smaller Prepacs as far as price is concerned.

*Edit*
Hmmmm...looks like a lot of the Prepacs are on sale at Best Buy right now, so you may want to take a look.
*faints due to all the anime and games* So how much Bandai anime do you have in your collection?
A pretty decent amount. I'm not really buying them specifically now just because they are not producing their DVDs anymore, so the majority of all the Bandai stuff I have I've had for awhile. But it's a pretty decent collection of Bandai title that I'm content with. ^__^

Sorry for the late reply guys. I'm at the Philippines for another week or so.
He does have Evangelion though. It's that big black box in the second anime pic.
Yeap, that's the one. It's the only one I could afford actually, and it was nice that I got it for free too. Haha. But I do want the steelbook one as well but I probably won't bite depending on the price.
lol oops...you know the first time i looked i swear i saw it but the second time i looked before i posted my reply i didnt see so thought i was going insane and seeing stuff again....thanks now i dont need to ask the doctor for more drugs.

that said what version of evangelion has that cool black box???

i also now see he has one of the ghost in the shell movies lol
Unfortunately, I'm not really into Ghost in the Shell. Maybe I should give it a try? I remember seeing Blue Gender when I was a kid along with the Inuyasha. Blue Gender always scared me. Big Monster Insects killing everyone. Haha.
Is that a Voltron poster that says... "Christians Unite"? Or are my eyes playing tricks on me?
Yeah. You are not crazy. I actually got that at a Christian Concert and I only got it for Voltron. I didn't really care about the writing. I'm Catholic and my Uncle always tries to make me convert.:

Collection update for me. It's still pretty small as I'm still in high school. But I did get a job at best buy so hopefully I'll have some more cash for some more stuff.

Target's cheap shelves are actually pretty good quality (much better than the Sauder/WM shelves-- though granted, Target's cheap shelves are a bit more expensive)... I had a ton of them during college. I wish I had kept them though when I moved back home. It's too bad they don't make a dedicated media unit.

Anyways, it looks great man.

The target shelves he's got pictured though are bookshelves, or shelves not built specifically for DVDs or other media, have to be built with better material since books are god damn heavy.

Sauder actually makes bookshelves too that use much stronger material instead of the stuff they use for their media shelves. Although I haven't seen the Target cheap media specific shelves, but I would assume they're probably the same, but of course I don't know that for a fact.

I wasn't talking about "stronger" material, but better finish/quality. For example, every cheap Sauder shelf I have (including my bookshelf) has the chipping/peeling of the finish. Plus, there's a tiny gap between the top/bottom half (you know what I mean) in one of my shelves. But again, their stuff is cheaper than the cheap items from other brands.

And I know they also make good shelves. My Office Depot bookshelf is a re-badge Sauder (but it's the series one step above their cheap line, not sure what it's called)- I got it on the cheap during some sale and it's a damn fine shelf.

If you're talking about the one that's similar to the blu-ray shelf I have in my collection where you piece the two halves together you're supposed to screw the screws in on the top half all the way in and then a bit further and into the wood a bit, otherwise the top of the screw sticks out and causes that minor gap there since it's pushing against the screw top. I really wish they specified that in the instructions though since most people probably won't know to do that ahead of time, and it's impossible to fix if they've already put the backboard on too.

Is that what you meant by gap?

Nice collection. Notice u have mostly ps3 games but only 2 xbox 360?
On the 5th picture, what anime is that from with the pick hair?

Actually in that pic with the huge stand one of the rows are actually all 360 games. There's not 360 games in that PS3 stand pic.

Also, which picture are you referring to again with the anime, since the 5th pic is the PS3 pic.

Or did you mean the anime figures? From left to right it's Super Soniko, Robot Wars, next three from To Love Ru, then Macross and Code Geass on the right side of the SNES/Genesis games.

So I finish building a new shelf only to realize after I finish I have no space for it.

Well this should be fun...

Maybe I'll just leave it there. :p

It looks like you can just put it on top of that shelf by the blocked door (if you moved some of those box sets there)? Or is it too tall to fit there?

The collections here aren't about size... they're just collections. I like small collections as much as I like big ones as long as the games are good and it's organized neatly.

This stand doesn't have a baseboard, so it needs to stand on top of a surface with a bigger area for stability, or needs a flat wall behind it for leverage, but that was indeed one of the spots I considered. It's still a possibility, but for safety reasons I'm still trying to find the best spot just in case, but I won't rule it out.

Exactly. Any collection is a good collection, no matter the size. We are all here to share our collections with each other. ^__^

That and you should know that Square's collection is abnormally large. Maybe you could just pretend his doesn't exist.
That and you should know that Square's collection is abnormally large. Maybe you could just pretend his doesn't exist.
Seriously. Some of us here have abnormally large collections, so there's no point in comparing the amount of stuff one has, but more what one enjoys to collect.

Ah, I see.

If that's the case, I'd look into wall mounting the TV and then getting floating shelves for the consoles/whatnot.

Every collection here has something to appreciate whether that be size, organization, rarities or even insane floor to ceiling game stacks. It's all about the OCD gaming love. You should post pics!
