Good to hear wiggy. Need to see some more pics from someone, I love this thread.
Thanks!
Oh good, now you can go home and work on the shelf.
So gonna murder you. Also, gives me a reason to use one of my fav smileys
Forgive me if you've explained already, but where do you get the hardware for these screens? Do you strip SP models and modify them to fit the original model? Are these produced specifically for you?
I did at one point strip SPs, but now I have a supplier in China for the screens. The adapter cables are acquired through the same supplier as the screens. He does sell them to folks across the pond, but his English isn't great, and shipping costs are pricey. I've been working with him for a while to get things all set up and making sense, and now I'm the exclusive US distributor for the kits
yea i certainly agree hoarding is not always about rats and garbage. my comment was mostly intended as a friendly joke/insult because i do agree there are different levels of hoarding but i do know most people tend to think of hoarding as the TLC tv show.
i do wonder if it is partly genetic? i know my parents would probably never admit it unless i explained it clearly but they are certainly a type of hoarder, my grand parents are as well one(one did the trash version of it), and i know me and some of my siblings have that hoard tendency. so i am curious if it is at all partly genetic. and well of course your mom and you both have a hoarding personality.
i suppose though in your moms case she is tiny and can get around it so it is not a problem for her as long as she doesnt have rats and garbage everywhere. although i do have to wonder just because i like wondering how these things is what end of the spectrum do massive collections of things fall under the hoarding behavior? because some collections(mine included are insane) and i am curious about digital hoarding as well i know im not the only person with 3 TB of crap around(ive deleted 2 TB already lol)
Oh, don't worry, I totally wasn't butt-hurt or anything. I didn't take it as an accusation or anything. We all know we have collecting issues here
Hoarding falls under the psychological category of "behavioral", which means that it's not hard-wired into us, but rather acquired along the way or as a symptom of what may be a physiological problem. It's often a coping mechanism for trauma, as the shows often suggests. Unlike what the TV shows would like you to think, it's not considered a disorder of its own. It's also NOT considered (at this point) to be the direct result of any physiological disorder like ADHD, OCD, or Bipolar. However, it most definitely
can be a symptom/manifestation of a physiological impairment like OCD.
We ALL have some sort of acquired behavioral issues. What really matters is how much it negatively impacts your life and those around you. In my case, the only other person that would really be impacted directly is my wife, and she has no problem with my ever growing collection. I do occasionally exceed my monthly gaming budget, but am by no means thousands of dollars in debt because of it. So, I personally don't feel that there's a concern for myself and my behavior. I'm willing to bet that the vast majority of folks here are in a similar boat.
I feel that if it's not crippling, then don't try and "fix" it
