Your first car?

I see a lot of topics with kids looking for their first car or some kid getting a new car for his graduation present and I forget how young some of the CAGs are. My first car was years, and years, and years ago and it was cheap with that classic 80's styling we've all come to despise.

So, my question to you CAGs isn't about what you drive now, but what was your first car?

First? That's a bit embarrassing, but it was a blue 1988 Ford Escort LX.

Let's just say my current car is a bit (OK, a hell of a fucking lot) nicer.

Being too lazy to pull up the "what do you drive" thread, what do you drive now?

Drove my family's 1984 Dodge Mini Van for about a year, then saved up enough money to buy a 1986 Dodge Colt. This was around 1993/1994.
1989 Dodge Shadow

It's the most gutless car I've ever driven.
No fuckin' way! Me too! Base model, 5-speed, no options. And I loved every second of it.

Technically, I bought my 69 Beetle before the Shadow, but it was a restoration project, so the Shadow was my first drivable car.

1988 Buick Century when I was 16... this was back in 1999. It was in fantastic shape except for it was rusting through. I bailed on it for a 2002 Eclipse GS in 2001 and still drive it. I will never buy a new car again for the record.

1976 Oldsmobile Delta 88 - powder blue!!! This is pretty much exactly what it looked like except mine had 2 doors instead of 4 and didn't have that little triangle window in the back (it was solid white there).

Same here. Mine had some early power seats, and at one point decided to break and constantly move the seat forward. As I'm 6'6", this was a bit of a problem.
1986 Ford Tempo. Drove the piss out of that thing until it was too expensive to maintain, then I scrapped it...
I had an '87 Tempo LX. Black with a "reflective" strip along the bottom with Tempo on it. Sounds gimpy but it was rather sporty.

After that a '95 Escort LX. God that thing was a total piece of shit. Still sitting in my parents backyard. Won't start...then again whats the point, is 88hp of shit.

Currently have a '95 V8 Thunderbird. Really great car, but blows on gas (fuck you Ford for removing the more gas saving 5.0 engine and using the shittier 4.6). After owning this one for about 4 months though, I doubt I'll go back to front wheel drive again...

84 Datsun 280ZX

My Dad bought this for me when I was 14 as a restoration project, but we never got around to it.

So technically my first car is a 99 Dodge Neon, which I still drive.

I'm in the market for a new car though.

The first car I bought was a 1993 Cadillac STS. Black with black leather, 300 hp Northstar V8, killer stereo...that thing was awesome. That is, until the A/C broke in the middle of the summer...not driving around town in a black car with no A/C in June in South Florida. I ended up letting my brother drive it to school one day and he totaled it. I still miss that car, it was a lot of fun.

1999 Dodge RAM 1500 with a V8 Hemi.

Just like that, expect with an extended cab, so there is a back seat and two little doors that get to it.

1978 Plymouth Voyager Extended Van. I think I spent more on DeadHead stickers than I did on the vehicle(bought it for $100.00 in '92). Van slept 6 comfortably, good times for an 18 year old back in the day. 3 Dead shows and 1 hallucino trip to Kings Island were the highlights for that ride.

Ironically, I now drive a '97 Plymouth Voyager, king of all grocery getters.

1987 16v VW Scirocco, look it up if you have never seen one. 5 spd, great car, loved driving fast in it, but it had one minor problem, the brakes didn't like to work sometimes. Imagine pushing the brake pedal to the floor and nothing happening!

no lie, didnt get my first car until I was 20 and it was a 2006 Mazda 6. Ironically enough I was engaged before I even had my first car. My friends still give me shit for that one, but I never really needed a car at the time.

The first car I drove regularly was my families old 1991 Dodge Grand Caravan.

However, the first car I bought/consider to be my own was a 1998 Dodge Stratus ES. Loved that car, but moved on to Jeep things.

An old Mustang II (the only uncool version of the Mustang), it was blue with the dual white stripe going bumper to bumper across the top of it. Bought it when I was 15, it was also the first car I financed (w/ co-sign of course). Kept it for bout a year and got me an RX-7 baby.

My first car was a '91 Ford Probe. Absolute piece of shit. It ended up catching on fire due to an electrical short in the rear defrosters, and that was pretty much the end of that.

my first was an 82' volvo wagon, bought for $600, it had leopard style rust spots all over the body. that car ruled.

Theres a reason why its called a Probe....because it probes your wallet

I'm guessing you had the v6 custom trim edition? I'm not really a short guy either (about 6'2) but I loved how much room I had when I drove that thing. I think I always kept my left leg on the door sill and it was just comfortable to cruise in.

Not to mention it was pretty solid on the outside. It didn't show damage like my new car does.
