You've bought Zelda for Wii (or maybe not), are you buying it for GC?

Curious what the thoughts are on these two versions now that we have one. Initially I intended to get both, then I decided Wii was enough once I had it, but with the killer launch price at CC, I'm considering it again.

I am not a collector, so since I already have the wii version (which seems superior to the gc because of widescreen, progressive scan, and control.) I will be sticking with that.

If I do get it...it won't be until it hits $20 but like someone else said there really isn't too much need for it.

I will get it for 20. As much as I am absolutely loving TP, and it is probably my second favorite Zelda game (behind LTTP contrary to most peoples' favorite Zelda), I just finally, FINALLY finished Wind Waker last night, after being in the final rooms of Ganon's Tower for months (work started and I just plum forgot really), and while the Wii controls are definitely as good if not better, they are also different, and there is something to be said for the nostalgia of the gamepad controls.

Also, Wind Waker had an absolutely gorgeous ending, and for one reason or another, it kind of motivated me to give my Gamecube one last Zelda game.

In a lot of ways, even with backwards compatibility, the Wii could never replace my gamecube.

I kinda feel bad for my gc because ever since I got the Wii its been getting next no playtime, my ds at least gets used on the go, but i think i'm gonna go back to it and play some OoT master quest :)

I have a feeling this game will disappear before it hits $20. As for me, I own a Wii but will be playing the GC version first over Christmas. I feel like I owe it to my Cube. I'll grab the Wii version down the road when it gets cheap.

no way. the controls on the Wii have me spoiled. I can't imagine playing TP on a normal controller. I don't think it would be nearly as fluid.
wonder how different the graphics will be
They won't be at all. Already been comparisons made with the JP version that came out last week. Besides the lack of widescreen support and having classic Zelda controls instead of the Wiimote, the GCN version is identical to the Wii version in every other aspect.
I'm going to wait for the reviews yet. Still not gungho about Wii controls...
You should be, it adds a TON to the experience. Anyone who says otherwise has not beaten the game. Or, by chance, has a different opinion than I do. ;)

Does the GC one have progressive scan? I don't have a Wii, I'll probably buy the GC one for less than $20 if it has progressive scan.

What's the launch price at CC?

I will ultimately get both versions. I'll probably spend more time on the Wii version and just quickly go through the GC version.

im pretty happy with the wii version, but ill probably rent the gc version just to see how the controls compare. there are times when the wii can be frustrating, like i can never ever ever ever do a shield attack, always a spin attack.

Even if I could have the GC version for free, I can't see myself having the time to go through this game twice anytime soon, if ever.

I will admit that if Nintendo hadn't delayed its release past the Wii launch, I might not have a Wii right now. I'm a sucker.

I don't have a Wii yet, but I wasn't one of those that just bought it for one game (Zelda)... since theres no way I'd waste my money on Rayman/Monkey Ball when the GC version is probably just as good if not better. So I'm not sure...if all the reviews say the Wii version has controls that are way better, 'll probably just wait till I get a Wii, which will be when more good games come out. Otherwise if its split I'll probably just go GC since I've heard the Wii version camera is harder to control, and its more difficult to get some of the moves off at times.

I was really frustrated by this too but now I can do it with ease since I discovered that.

In order to say that I own all first party Gamecube titles, I will get this when it hits below $30 or I find it somewhere used really cheap (pawnshop maybe?).

Seeing as I don't have a Wii yet, I'll probably pick up the GC version since it's on sale, and then the Wii version when it drops to $20. Though, I don't have a GC to play it on anymore either...

Oh well. I'll get to play Twilight Princess as a traditional Zelda first, and be able to compare and see exactly how much the Wii controls add to the game, for a few bucks more than a new game at release.

I love this game on the wii, I couldn't imagine a better experience with the cube controller, so only the wii version for me

When I first heard of there being two seperate versions I was on the fence about which one to get. I leaned more towards the NGC version because I wasn't sure how the Wii version would play. Well I broke down and traded in games for the Wii version and it is one of the best games of 2006. I will eventually get the NGC version when it becomes a Player's Choice, but for now I will enjoy my Wii version:)

I think getting a Wii to play Zelda now, and knowing about future awesome releases like SSMBB and Super Mario Galaxies, makes it worth it. It's not like I'll never get another game for Wii, nor do I think there will be no other good games for it. I am happy to have Zelda on Wii, and Zelda alone (well, sports, but whatever).
And I don't think there is any ability to control the camera in this game. I know Wii doesn't (besides the z-centering like Ocarina), but I think it's camera is quite good. I'm rarely frustrated by it, if ever.
the wii controls annoyed me, i think ill go with the GC version
I just finished the first dungeon, and I'm honestly getting the GC version (from CC at 37.99 this week) and I will replay up until that point on the gamecube version. I will then decide which version I want to finish it with. I just don't feel like randomly moving my arms in hopes that it means take the out the sword, etc. I'd like to give it a try with a regular controller.

As for those that say the fishing is just much better on the Wii...I couldn't care less about the fishing parts.
Why on Earth would I get both?
Yeah really. I'm totally confused by why you'd buy both. It's the same game. There's less of a reason to buy both than there is for Splinter Cell Double Agent with it's PC/360 and PS2/X-Box/Wii versions.

I was having a helluva time with the shield attack as well and found an even easier method. Tilt the nunchuk back and then flick it forward like you are flicking a whip. It works every time when I do it like that.
