Ys 1&2 Chronicles Premium Edition $19.99 *In Store only*

I know this dates me :p but I used to love this game back on the Turbografx. It's a great RPG, maybe not amazing by today's standards but certainly well suited for a mobile platform.

Just called my local store and they said they have a sealed copy but no soundtrack, somebody supposedly stole it off the floor. They are willing to give me a 10% shopworn discount, is it still worth picking up from both a gamer and a collector's standpoint?

All the premium is on this is a soundtrack. Not the best YS premium edition. If you don't care about the soundtrack, you might as well just get the standard edition.

From what I can tell online, this is a good price even for the vanilla version. Besides, the music is awesome!!

Wow thats a bummer. I would still pick it up since $20 is a steal. Unless the game gets a reprint its only going to get rarer and more expensive. You might be able to find the soundtrack on Ebay or try contacting Xseed/Falcom. They might send you a replacement soundtrack or goodies. They care about their fans.

Ys Seven still remains the best Ys premium edition in my opinion. Hopefully Ys IV for Vita has a premium edition.

Thanks for the input guys, I have it on instore pickup and I'll go get it later. I've just recently gotten into the Ys series (I've only played ark of napishtim and a bit of 7) so I'm excited to try some of the other entries.

Didn't realize it was going for so much. Makes me happy that by the time I was ready to play it, it was on sale on PSN and I bought it and played that way instead of opening my premium one.

probably just the game itself is sealed not the outer box

Eh, I'm not that big a Ys fan, so I can't imagine getting much out of this...

*looks at Amazon's marketplace prices*

...On second thought, maybe I'll pick one up if I can find a sealed copy.

I don't have any that are close. If someone can find a complete copy with everything, including the music cd and box, I will gladly pay $35 shipped. Someone help a CAG out?

Once they take those off the floor, they collapse the box and remove its contents. When you go to buy it, they'll fix up the box, put everything back in it (that they bound with a rubber band) and put a circular stick on the top and bottom so it's goooood as new.

Thanks for posting this.
A Gamestop nearby had one.
Outer box was gutted and put on the shelf but in great shape.
The Game and CD were behind the counter and both still sealed.

When I try "Pick up in Store" and then choose a backup store, it just keeps clocking and won't continue.

I've tried multiple browsers.

Anyone else seeing the same behavior?

Thanks

Whenever something like this happens with these niche games at Gamestop, it makes me wonder how many people even bother buying these when they first come out? For instance, this and other Xseed titles, in addition to Persona 2, have all sat at my Gamestop for quite sometime. Whenever I pick one of these types of games up, it always seems to be the only copy have ever got.

I was going to point out that you can buy the soundtrack from XSeed for like $5, but apparently their website has been hacked by Viagra pushers. WTF.

looks good to me!

With the update to the online locator a month or two ago, if it says "In Stock" instead of "Low Stock" it means there are 2+ which greatens the chance of a sealed one rather than a gut.

You guys should know that combat system for these games are very old. They use the ancient old bump and collide system. You have charge your character head first in the right position to damage your enemies unlike most games such as Zelda you can swing your sword by pressing a specific button(that feature was release in later installments). It can be a hit and miss. Some will enjoy the simplicity and fast pace but others will hate it for not getting use to it. Both games are extremely short. Each series will set less than 10 hours. The game is very punishing towards beginners. You have to learn to dodge attacks or you die a lot even with a lot of grinding. Beginner should start with easiest difficulty unless your experienced gamer.

The actual case was sealed but they didn't have the premium box with the soundtrack. It wasn't a standard copy either because the pricetag said soundtrack included. Oh well I got it for 18 bucks so I'm happy

This always happens to me if I already have 3 "pick up in store" orders pending. It won't let me add any more. I suspect it's the (unannounced) way of keeping someone from having tons of pick up in store orders sitting around. Of course, if you don't have any pending already then I'm completely wrong.

If you can't find a PSP version and own a DS this version might suffice...

EDIT: Nevermind on what I said...
That DS version is absolutely terrible and was not done by or approved by the original dev. If you research it you'll see he basically called it crap and that's why a PSP version was done.
Wow, didn't even realize Amazon was OoS. I might as well pick one up now since it probably won't get any lower.

After seeing the Gold Box and whatnot deals on Seven/Felghana I decided to wait on Chronicles, but from the looks of it the print run on it is much smaller than the former two. The only one in stock around me is a gutted copy and I'm not sure I could put a gutted box next to the other two game boxes lol

Just picked up a what I hope is factory sealed copy at one of my 5 local GameStop's. There are 5 other stores within 10 miles of me that say they still have it in stock.

You're lucky, only one store near me had it. Already confirmed it's a gut (and probably in shit condition) but... for $20, I can't complain much seeing the prices elsewhere.

I checked a couple local GS's to no avail. I did manage to snag a Ys 7 Premium for $30. Those usually go for $70 on amazon.

Offer still stands, $35 shipped if anyone can find an extra copy of Ys 1/2 for me.

Huh the Amazon reviews don't seem bad but I'll take your word for it, changed my original post with your updated info. Sorry about that.
