ZUNE and your X360 - ZUNE HD Now in 64GB - Latest Update Now Supports AVI/XviD

He is looking for backgrounds for the Zune Software, not the Zune device.
i found a deathnote one using my methode :)

Did you play the albums from the Zune itself or from the Zune software?
umm i cant even play them from the software. So i want to delete them , but they wont delete.

It seems Target is clearing out some there 30gb Zune accessories. I picked up two 30gb last week for 132.xx a piece. Also they had the Monster 300i FM Car transmitter for 30.xx
On the clearance end cap by the Zune stuff they had all there cases for 30gb marked down. This was at three different Targets in the Cleveland area.

Has anyone that was having trouble with podcasts found a solution? Every time I try to play the CAG cast it freezes up and I have to reboot the system anywhere from 1 - 5 minutes into the podcast. On a best case senario, it will tell me that there is something wrong with the file or it cant be found.

I have resynced the files over again several times and still have the same issues.

I am using a 30gb with the 2.3 updated firmware. Any help would be great.

I've never had an issue with podcasts so I can't directly address your problem, but I do recall reading on the Zune forum that you shouldn't keep your podcasts in the same file that you keep your music library in...you should setup a separate file system for them. Maybe this would work for you?

Yeah I have in a separate part of the collection for podcasts and its syncs into the podcast section. Right now, the only thing I have on the entire Zune is 3 episodes of the CAG Cast. None of the three will work correctly. I have tried deleteing them and redownloading. Still doesn't work right. Guess I am going to take mine back. The podcast section and syncing was the only real benefit this had over my 60gb Toshiba Gigabeat S which is a portable media center device.

I stopped using my Gigabeat when I got my Zune 80...if you're in the market for another S60 let me know!

How stable has your Zune 80 been ? I finally had to return my Zune 30 I got from Target after getting a Screen 5 Error and it wouldn't even hard reboot. I really like the Zune layout and the Zune software. But if the player won't play it doesn't do me any good.

Never had any problems with my S60, but hate the fact that it mashes podcast in with songs and things like that.

Hey guys, just got a Zune. What program can I use to convert AVI files? Also, how can I manually sync (songs/videos)?

I had this issue. Hard reset fixed it. Very odd though--only happens with the CAGcast.

Cheapy's got Apple as a sponsor and they throw in embedded code to make the Zune self destruct. I used to have problems with the CAGcast as well. However I sold my Zune a few weeks ago for a Cowon Q5W.

I think i've still got a RCA tv cable for the Zune lying around somewhere. If i find it, i'll sell it here ($5 shipped?)

The only problem I've ever had with my Zune 80 was when I first got it last November...a few tracks would sync onto the player over and over again, so I'd have multiple copies of a handful of songs. The software update from December fixed it, and I've been issue-free since then.

Yeah, I loved my Gigabeat players...especially loved that I could manage it with Mediamonkey or WMP, if I so desired. I upgraded to the Zune 80 primarily for the podcast integration (the extra 20GB didn't hurt, either).

How is the Cowon Q5W? It definately looks interesting but there are a few things that seem strange like the fact that it plays music files in alphabetic order based on title instead of by track number?

I just got my 80GB zune and fucking love it.

Except the garbage software that comes with it. Can someone for the love of God please point me in the direction of a editing program that will let me file my music how I want it.

For example.

Belle & Sebastian
Belle and Sebastian

Now I'm stuck with two folders on my zune eventhough they are the same fucking person.

And I want to be able to put the Juno Soundtrack under "Juno" or "Juno Soundtrack" instead of Various artists. Please help.

The music interface unfortunately is somewhat lacking. The alphabetical thing kinda sucks, though i wanna say i only had to fix about 10 of my albums as all the others had the track numbers in the begining of the file name. Theres also no option to play all songs from a single artist, you've either got to add them all into a playlist, or go into each folder directly. I'm hoping some of these issues will be fixed in future firmware upgrades. On the good side, its got plenty of settings (making for hundreds of different equalizer options) and has a much better sound than my Zune 80 did.

All the other features (Video, GPS, windows apps) are really good as well, except for the internet explorer, which lags quite a bit on flash sites like youtube. Coreplayer released a player for the Q5W that lets you stream from youtube lag free, but they charge for it. Its got very various reviews, mainly due to its pricepoint, but I'm almost completely satisfied. As far as I know, its one of the only players that bridges the gap between the 4.3" players and the 7" players. I would've gotten the Archos 605, but from what I read, the interface & audio quality aren't that great; and I love the way the Q5W looks.

I could go on and on, but as this is the Zune thread, i probably shouldn't.

This sounds more like a tag problem than anything. I recommend going through your songs with a program like MP3Tag and fixing your tags. It's not a fun endeavor, especially if you have a ton of music like I do, but it's DEFINITELY worth the time and effort. While you're at it, I'd recommend using AlbumArtDownloader and making Folder.jpg entries for all your albums for the album art. Make sure the Artist is the same, etc. Also for the music list, the Zune seems to read an extended tag entry called "Band" instead of artist. So for soundtracks you can keep the Artist what it should be, but make sure that the Band entry is what you want it to show as. MP3Tag was the only one that I found to edit the extended tags easily. Just right-click on the song(s) and hit extended tags, then if it doesn't have it, hit the top button in the dialogue, and add the tag "Band" with the value, i.e. "Juno Soundtrack."

I want to have your babies. I've been using MP3Tag and it's been a lifesaver however I had no idea the 'Extended Tag' option was there. Thank you so much dude.

Yeah, I just figured it out talking with a buddy the other day about the stuff, he uses a Zune too and found out that is uses the Band tag to sort. Definitely rids some of the annoyance!

I have a question about my video podcasts. For some reason, I have like 72 episodes of X-Play reviews on my Zune 80, but maybe 12 are original. The rest are copies. I'll have like over ten of the same file on my zune. How do I fix this? I have this problem for the rest of my video podcasts as well.

I have that problem with Burn The Witch by QueensOTStoneAge. Anyone have a way to get in there and remove them? They don't show up as duplicates in the Zune software, just on the device.

Are you guys running with the latest versions of the firmware and the software? Your DAP should be at Version 2.3 and your software should be at Version 2.3.1338.0.

The last batch of updates fixed all of my "duplicating tracks" problems...I'm wondering if you guys are still having the problem because your using older versions.

I have version 2.3 (1145). I checked for status updates and it said I already have the latest version.

The Zune software sucks. I've resorted to completely removing my library and re-adding it everytime I run into an issue because it's too frustrating to try any other way. It never ends well unless I give up at the start.

Not a clue, then. Sorry.

If you click on the question mark in the upper right hand corner of the software it'll take you to a page with troubleshooting options...maybe try that?

There really needs to be an option from the PC to have your Zune wirelessly sync, if wireless is already on. I keep it in my car, mostly, and would love to just be able to leave it in and sync as I wish.
I sent for my Zune coffin today .

I'm lookng forward to getting a Zune that works finally .
It's been about a week since I sent my zune 80 for repairs. Still waiting for it to be sent back to me. Been reading the zune.net forums and it seems like people aren't getting their zunes back. Really hope that doesn't happen to me.

What's been pissing me off lately is I'm getting the same shit on my plays list because more than half my music isn't in the Zune Marketplace (foreign). I looked, but couldn't find an option to submit artist info (they don't grab from allmusic.com I guess)...this is not a huge problem, just an annoyance.

The guy said 10-15 days , I don't know if that's after they recieve it or total time [yeah right , huh?] .

I put an episode of John Adams on my Zune and was very disappointed by the compression. I used Cucusoft. Is there something better to use?

For some reason none of my podcasts updated. All have a little yellow ! in the picture box. I tried restarting my computer and reloading the Zune software and it still happened. Anyone know what's wrong?

I get a message that says "Can't retrieve episodes because the RSS feed isn't formatted correctly. Please check that the series URL points to a valid RSS file. Error Code C00D1312"

I found that if you right click the podcasts that have the "!" and select update podcast, it will update. I have 8 podasts that I subscribe to on the Marketplace and sometimes I get that. I think if you have a lot of podcasts to update, then some just won't update themselves for some reason.

I lost my Sync cable. Can anybody suggest a place to buy a Sync cable/package that includes a Sync Cable that's cheap. I see the Microsoft Zune Home AV Kit - Multimedia Player Kit at buy.com for $20 plus $5 shipping, and it seems pretty interesting. Any cheaper deals for this or just the sync cable?

I just got back from FedEx .

I sent out my Zune and my Wireless wheel .

The last 2 peices for my MS warranty Hat Trick Acheivement .

That seemed to work. When I tried to earlier, it didn't though. Weird.

For some reason the Zune software is unable to find a particular album on my computer?

Any reason for this? It's in the same folder as the rest of my music I've added to my Zune.

WHAT'S NEW IN VERSION 2.5
We've updated the Zune software with features our community's been asking for, including gapless playback, smart playlists, new sorting options, multiple-device syncing, and advanced song info editing, including drag-and-drop functionality. If you have Windows Live Messenger running, it'll let your contacts know what you're playing. And when you go to Zune Marketplace, you'll now find over 600 episodes of popular TV shows to download, plus more than two million DRM-free MP3s.
Great news for members of the Zune Social: the discovery experience is now fully integrated into this update. Send messages and listening recommendations directly from the software. Zune Pass subscribers: sync your friends' Zune Cards with your device and their music comes along—their recent plays, favorite tracks, and top songs from their most-played artists[3]. Even if you don't have a Zune Pass, you'll still see their play data on your device, so you can choose what you want and buy the songs next time you sync.
Sounds like some good stuff to me.

*edit*

I updated and now it wont let me sign on. Keeps saying "Cant perform the requested action because its not on the website. Check the URL and try again". I added it to my safe list on Norton when it first popped up, not sure why its not working.
