Character profile stories for Miguel and Jin Kazama…

ミゲル / Miguel

Despising the thought of having his life in the hands of others, Miguel sought to live his life on his own. Even after being raised strictly by his parents, the blood thirsty personality of Miguel found him starting fights with the people around him and caused him to be seen as a rebel amongst everyone he knew. After countless arguments and disagreements with his parents he decided to leave his home when he was just 15. He found sanctuary at a bar he visited often. Miguel trusted no one, except his kind-hearted sister, who he cared about more than anyone. She visited him secretly without their parents knowing about it. Some time later, Miguel’s sister told him that she was to be married. Miguel was outraged and seriously thought of killing her fiance. On the day of the wedding Miguel watched the ceremony from outside of the church, not wanting to be seen by his parents. Under the clear blue sky, almost as if it was a blessing, a line of planes passed by the wedding… when just a moment later, a violent, burning inferno covered the scene. Miguel was blown away, although he was in great pain and almost collapsed, he tried desperately to look for his sister inside the remains of the church. When he finally found her, Miguel saw that his sister was dead and her wedding dress soaked in her blood. Miguel’s screams echoed throughout the ruins. Some time after Miguel discovered that the air raid was ordered by the Mishima Zaibatsu, and with furious hatred he vowed to get revenge on the Zaibatsu’s leader, Jin Kazama.

風間 仁 / Jin Kazama
The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6の開催を発表するのであった。

Upon defeating his great grandfather, Jinpachi Mishima, Jin became the new head of the Mishima Zaibatsu. Jin brought chaos and suffering across the globe using the Tekken Forces to get rid of each county’s military power and take control of their energy resources, even their space colonies. After all that was done, the Mishima Zaibatsu declared itself an independent nation and declared war against all who opposed them. It seemed that the Mishima Zaibatsu would conquer the entire world until another power finally opposed Jin’s organization. G-Corporation, led by Kazuya Mishima, puts a bounty on Jin Kazama’s head. Almost as if Jin was expecting that G-Corporation would get involved, he immediately announced “The King of the Iron Fist Tournament 6.”

The Tekken 6 story has been posted on the popular Japanese Tekken resource site, Sunlight Yellow. The news cited is from the June issue of Arcadia Magazine’s Tekken 6 feature. Here is a brief synopsis of the story and character profiles that were posted on the TZ thread:

Story:
The 5th “King of the Iron Fist Tournament” has ended with Heihachi Mishima missing and the eventual winner being Jin Kazama.

Jin Kazama then assumes the role as head of the Mishima Zaibatsu and beings using the special Tekken force units for propaganda and manipulative acts all over the world. Eventually many people become upset by this and it starts riots and eventually war amongst nations.

With the world now at war, many nations lose their power and the Mishima Zaibatsu declares itself as an independent nation.

The Mishima Zaibatsu is intent on conquering the world with only G Corporation to stand in its way. People around the world see G Corporation as a savior and G Corporation offers a price on Jin Kazama to anyone that can bring him in alive.

Just as anyone could have expected, the announced for the 6th “King of Iron Fist Tournament” was under way.

Those that want to make a name for themselves, those that seek money, and those that want revenge. Many different ideals and goals gather while the Tekken 6 tournament is unveiled.

Leo:
o Leo’s father is a world famous detective. Leo wants to become just like her father. Her father ends up missing before the tournament is announced.
o Leo is of German ethnicity and practices Hakyokuken style of martial arts.
o Leo’s mother works in the same G Corporation division that may have betrayed Kazuya. Leo lived happily with her mother until she is murdered.
o The murder investigation ends abruptly and after mourning Leo decides to take matters into her own hands.
o Upon further investigation into the murder, Leo notices that a name, “Kazuya Mishima” keeps showing up and then decides to enter the next Iron Fist Tournament to get her revenge.

Zafina:
o Zafina is a guardian to the tomb of a royal family at a village that has been around for centuries. The sealed grave is believed to protect the well being of the tribe.
o Many martial artists have tried to enter the tomb but Zafina has single handedly defeated them all.
o Zafina follows the ideals of astrology and finds out that something very bad is going to happen, something that could possibly lead to the end of the world.
o One day the village elders prophisized that when two “evil stars” meet, the seal on the graves will be broken and the world end.
o Zafina leaves the village to see if the world is really going to end.

Heihachi:
o After being assaulted by the Jack force, Heihachi wakes up only to find out that the “King of Iron Fist Tournament 5″ has already ended.
o He goes back to Zaibatsu headquarters only to find the Tekken force blocking his way.
o After the next Iron Fist Tournament is announced and Heihachi finds out that Jin Kazama is the new head of the Mishima Zaibatsu, he is enraged and declares that he will get everything back.

Yoshimitsu:
o Trying to avenge his fallen Manji clan comrades, while going after Bryan Fury, Yoshimitsu realizes that his sword is weakening.
o His sword is a cursed blade. By killing evil doers and villains the sword would retain its power, otherwise the cursed sword will make the user go insane.
o Yoshimitsu realizes that he can no longer use his old sword and decides to use another blade that seals the properties of the cursed sword. He then decides to enter the King of Iron Fist 6 Tournament.

Kazuya:
o Kazuya Mishima has figured out which division of G Corporation was the one that betrayed him and viciously killed them all.
o Kazuya has now risen to the head of G Corporation in the shadows.
o The world is now against the Mishima Zaibatsu and Kazuya fuels the fire by leading G Corporation against it.
o Kazuya can’t stand anyone else conquering the world other than himself so he decides to go against Jin Kazama and the Mishima Zaibatsu.
o Kazuya realizes that G Corporation is very influencial amongst the people of the world now and he announces that anyone who captures Jin Kazama alive will receive a handsome cash reward.
o Immediately following his announcement, the King of Iron Fist 6 Tournament is announced by the Mishima Zaibatsu. Kazuya predicted this would happen and began to laugh hysterically.

Here are some translations of both Leo’s and Zafina’s profiles courtesy of Kurichan from TZ Forums:

Leo’s Tekken 6 Profile
Leo is the child of world-renowned male spelunker, and a top female executive of the biotech firm, G Corporation.

Leo’s father, whom she respected, disappeared during an exploration when she was a child, but even so, she strove to become an explorer like her father. She grew up to be a straight and narrow person with her kind mother, but her happy days came to an abrupt end when someone killed her mother.

Saddened by her mother’s death, she shut everyone out of her life, but the unexpected and inconclusive end to her mother’s murder investigation, prompted her to continue the investigation on her own. Not too long after she started her, she came across the name of a man named Kazuya Mishima, G Corporation’s very own. And as G Corporation was praised as the world’s savior, all attempts at approaching had ended in failure.

News of the Mishima Financial Group opening a martial arts tournament called The King of the Iron Fist Tournament was spreading, and knowing that Kazuya was going participate directly in the tournament, Leo too followed suit, believing this would be her only chance to avenge her slain mother.

Zafina’s Tekken 6 Profile
Zafina, who has great spiritual powers, was born to a group of spiritual warriors with an ancient past.

Since childhood, Zafina was raised to be a protector of an imperial tomb. Several years ago, a foreign army attacked the imperial tomb she and her group were protecting, and Zafina single handedly wiped every single one of them out. Since then, the group’s guru appointed her to be its sole assassin.

In her public life, she uses her spiritual powers as an astrologist, but recently she can only see evil omens, and her premonitions grow more and more intense day by day. Seeking to understand the meaning behind all of this, Zafina sought the advice of her guru, and he began to tell her an ancient tale passed down from generation to generation only to a select few. According to the tale, two evil stars will shake the world when they come into contact, and, inevitably, the two will unite with the sealed ancient evil being protected by her group, destroying the world. Zafina considered the meaning behind the guru’s tale and her premonitions well.

Setting out on a course that took her far east, to the place the evil stars were believed to be gathering, she journeyed with the intentions of destroying them.

Thanks to Mukumuku on TZ Forums

New details from Tougeki Damashi Vol. 5 indicate a massive overhaul for many of the returning characters in Tekken 6. Some of the highlights from the interview include:
o Animations have been changed for every character!
o All characters have an “item move”, like the Bryan shotgun we saw at the AOU trailer. Although not all of them will have the same effectiveness.
o An example of an “item move” will be Anna throwing her high heels at her opponents.
o Harada officially stated that Leo IS a girl.
o So far Yoshimitsu has gone under the most drastic change. Harada notes that it will be much more difficult to use Yoshimitsu this time around and they consider him an “Expert” character. Part of his story includes the fact that his sword is now losing power and he must take a new fighting style, Kenjutsu from the Manji clan, this includes both dual sword fighting and pure fist fighting!
o A lot of Lei Wulong’s laying down stances have been changed. They look more like Lei Fei and Shun Di’s laying down stance from Virtua Fighter 5. They also changed the properties where Lei can be counter-hit and juggled out of his laying down stances.
o Many changes were done to Marshall Law. It is noted that fans of Bruce Lee and those that know of Jeet Kune Do will be very pleased.

03/28/07 - UPDATE
Turns out Jin won Tekken 5.

And it also turns out that the 3rd character aka “MANLY MAN” showed up in the AOU2007 trailer, but most ppl didn’t notice it!

Also, the new character’s fighting style/movement is something COMPLETELY new to the Tekken series…

News next week!

02/19/07 - UPDATE
Lastly, a Tekken 6 tidbit… according to many sources Leo is actually a female character. The developers did not specify her gender however when asked about Zafina they had no problem confirming that she was a new female fighter. This would likely explain the VERY feminine look and voice coming from Leo. Also we’re sure you saw Bryan Fury showing off his new artillery towards the end of the Tekken 6 trailer… sources say that the shotgun is actually part of a customization item. By having certain items it will expand your move list and give you exclusive moves based on that item. By no means are these items meant to be powerful but more of a stylistic change. Remember these are all rumors and mumblings at the moment, more news as we get it!

More info will be revealed on the 19th this month! I'm excited!

I can't stop playing Tekken 5-DR on my PS3... but I've found something that'll make me stop...

Tekken 6! Thanks for posting the info! Well worth the wait, I think...
o A lot of Lei Wulong’s laying down stances have been changed. They look more like Lei Fei and Shun Di’s laying down stance from Virtua Fighter 5. They also changed the properties where Lei can be counter-hit and juggled out of his laying down stances.
Great. Because Lei needs to suck more ass. Thanks, Namco.

Hmm... it's good to see that they're putting the game in arcades first so we don't get a Soul Calibur III style disappointment.

With the recent announcement of T5DR going online, I hope/wish that Namco would push back the arcade release of Tekken 6 from late this year to sometime in 2008... and a console release in late 2008...

I want T5DR to flourish for awhile longer, it's a great game, the most balanced Tekken has been yet.

Don't get me wrong I love the fact that they're adding online for T5DR, but is it weird that I'm more excited for the practice mode? Mind you my psp was stolen, so I couldn't practice on that
Haven't played a Tekken since 3, so I'm pretty excited for this.
stop what you're doing and at least play Tekken 5... it puts 3 to shame IMHO.

Get DR! might as well pay the extra few bucks for it. plus, it's a great game to have right there on your PS3.

Huge Tekken 6 media update today! A whole bunch of screen shots/pictures from the private Tekken 6 event! Check out all the screens here:

06/19/07 - Tekken 6 Private Show

Here are some impressions/gameplay changes from Zekusu, thanks again to mukumuku for the heads up!

GENERAL

* The game is currently about 50% complete. There are definately 2 new characters yet to be seen, with the possibility of MORE. Please keep in mind that the game is still in beta testing and the final product will be different from how it is now.

DEVIL JIN

* New move, f,f+3,1,b+1+2 (3rd hit is a mid punch). Zekusu doesn’t have any ideas on how to use the move yet.
* New move, b+3, seems useless right now.
* d/f+1+2 was changed to a double punch attack, the 2nd hit options were taken out.
* The laser throw recovers slower now. No guaranteed follow up afterwards.
* After hellsweep hits up close ONLY, 1+4 can connect, but it won’t if you do dash 1+4.
* 1+4 move animation has changed. Frame properties have changed as well.
* Combo damage has been toned down.
* d/f+1,2~f,f, hellsweep ender for juggles is no longer possible.
* Recovery off d/f+1,2 is slower now. The cancel doesn’t seem to be there anymore.
* If you play Devil Jin like you played him in DR, overall he is much weaker.

06/20/07 UPDATE

Thanks to mukumuku, zechs and geesendou for the latest update!

TEKKEN 6 GENERAL INFO

* Live Monitor panel now has touch screen functionality. You can view either the live match or view other matches recorded throughout Japan.
* In T5DR, to be broadcasted on TEKKEN-NET live monitors you had to be Fujin ranked or above. For Tekken 6 it allows lower ranked matches to be broadcasted on the live network.
* Ranking starts at Beginner.
* Rankings will now be international.
* Tekken Teams/Clans can use an original common item.
* Teams/Clans will now be assigned a rank/level.
* You can achieve medals by completing certain tasks. Much like Virtua Fighter 5. For example, get a 15 win streak, receive a 15 win streak medal/reward.
* There are 12 total stages. Some stages are connected to each other. Not all stages will have a linked stage.
* There will still be infinite stages.
* For breakable stages, there are unique combos/juggles you can perform on those stages only.
* Namco does not intend to do minor patches/tweaks to the game(like VF5 does), instead they plan on launching the game and having it as balanced as possible in November.
* The new Tekken 6 arcade board has faster read/load times than Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection.

CHARACTER SPECIFIC INFORMATION

ZAFINA

* d/f+2 is a high crush.

HEIHACHI MISHIMA

* d/f+1,2 (twin pistons) has been removed. Instead the new move is d/f+1 into a new second hit. It no longer launches, it’s more like a hammer fist move that causes knockdown.
* New move similar to Kazuya’s d/f+3, causes unbreakable stun on CH.
* Heihachi has a new low move.
* EWGF, f,f+2, d+1 and hellsweep seem to be the same.

KAZUYA MISHIMA

* Kazuya seems to be the strongest of the Mishimas now.
* Kazuya has a new string, 1,2,4,3. The last kick is mid.
* New move, d/f+3,1
* New move, b+1+2 which is similar to Heihachi’s b+2. Does not stun on CH.
* New mid, mid string. b+1,2.

JIN KAZAMA

* From the limited play time with Jin, there doesn’t seem to be any noticeable changes with his game play.

More updates soon!

BAEK DOO SAN

The third hit of the string is no longer the move that looks like SS+1+2, but instead it is an elbow strike. The elbow strike knocks down on successful hit.

Another update at www.sdtekken.com/tekken-6

---

Also, I saw someone on another forum mention that this game looks EXACTLY like Tekken 4 and 5... claiming it was the same stuff etc....

I was quick to reply... but hear me out... I have a VERY critical eye on Tekken, and I read/study the game like a science... anyways here was my reply:
"Well... I guess I'll just say you don't know Tekken that well. After watching those vids once I could immediately point out 20-30 differences PER VIDEO, between the characters/system... but then again, I know 10000% more about Tekken then you do.... so that pretty much sums it up... PPL that know Tekken will see it, ppl that don't... won't."
I admit that was a bit mean/cocky of me... but then some other ppl called me out on it... so I had to show them...

In reference to this video:

Like you guys would care about the changes... here is info on just one of the vids. This takes time, and I won't bother to do it for any other vids... I just want to share with you the differences...(+ King is my favorite character).

KING (Yamada) vs STEVE (KEIO)

1) 00:38 - Steve does 1,1,2(new animation/properties) and the string no longer forces you to block the whole thing like in T5DR, after 1,1, you are free to move or even duck the 2 followup.

2) 00:41 - As King attempts the juggle after u/f+4, f+2,2, 1, (1) the 2nd jab misses although he used the same timing as T5DR. This is due to the fact that many characters have their jab speed reduced to 10 frames(King's jab was 9 frames in T5DR).

3) 00:43 - King's WS+1+2 uppercut seems a few frames faster and pushes back a bit more than in T5DR.

4) 00:45 - The KND property of CH d/b+3 for King has been altered slightly. It seems to recover slower on hit/CH.

5) 00:48 - Steve's DCK 2 seems to have been sped up a bit.

6) 00:49 - King's new move b+1,2. 12 frame high move into new right punch(mid).

7) 00:50 - Steve's new animation for b+1,2. No longer causes KND on hit.

8) 01:05 - Recovery on Steve's DCK 1 seems to have been reduced. This is based on the fact that post DCK 1 in the juggle the d/f+1,2,1~B, (FLK 1) followup missed.

9) 01:08 - RAGE activation seems to happen at around 30% life.

10) 01:10 - Giant Swing animation has been extended, King takes longer to spin the opponent around than T5DR.

11) 01:21 - King's CH b+1, SSR f+3, (1) does not work like in T5DR. This is most likely due to either recovery increased on f+3 and also the speed of the jab.

12) 01:25 - Steve's d/b+2 range animation has gotten smaller.

13) 01:27 - After King landed CH b+1, it is now obvious that the opponent falls faster from the stun.

14) 01:36 - Usually Steve's DCK 2 would go under highs but it was stuffed by King's b+1 and CH'd. This could mean that the properties of DCK 2 make it not as evasive as T5DR.

15) 01:37 - King's missed juggle is another example of the jab difference affecting juggles. Yamada missed the iSW ender(which he rarely does).

16) 01:45 - Steve exhibits the new Peek A Boo stance 1.

17) 01:47 - Steve uses the new Peek A Boo stance 2. Followed by more options.

18) 01:52 - Steve's Peek A Boo can be cancelled into DCK. As shown by the cancel of Peek A Boo into DCK f+2

19) 02:05 - Yamada exhibiting his wavedash/snakedash ****King(which is he very known for).

20) 02:10 - Steve's f,f,f+2 range has been decreased. Does not travel as far as it did in T5DR.

21) 02:12 - Steve's d/b+2 on hit causes the enemy to fall down in a different position from T5DR.

22) 02:28 - This one is important. Steve's KND 4 does not knock down King. This is a big change in the Tekken series.

23) 02:35 - King's f+3:1+2 into d+3+4 followup looks like it is still guaranteed.

24) 02:41 - Steve's WS+1,2 does CONSIDERABLY way less damage than any other interation of the move.

25) 02:45 - This confirms that it is not character specific. King lands a KND 4 and it does not knock Steve down.

26) 02:49 - King lands u/f+4, f+2,2, 1, iSW and the damage is WAY less than before. It does about 1/4th the lifebar wheras in T5DR the same combo did closer to half life.

27) 02:51 - King's d/f+4 animation has changed.

28) 02:57 - Stupid dude gets in the way.

The end.
So just to show you guys... this is what I SEE, when I watch these new Tekken 6 vids... Trust me, it may look the same... but it is NOT the same...

Can't wait to see how the game turns out when players get used to the new T6 system more.

I can relate MM. The first second the video loaded I already caught a ton of new stuff. Kids make assumptions too quick. Hopefully when they get older they will understand, but if not they'll probably be better off that way ;)

same here....as a "king" user myself, saw those differences automatically....man, i can see already that steve fox is gonna annoy me again in this game :)

Tekken 6 still really underwhelms me. The new characters seem like rejected concepts brought back out of desperation from lack of new ideas.

I'll be moving to VF this time around.

after about a weeks play of VF5 though I'm sure you'll go back to Tekken.
