GS/EB Games - Cheap Ass USED GBA Games

As much as I hate GS, these are probably the best prices they've given for some of these GBA games. It wouldn't surprise me that they're trying to lower the quantity of GBA games they have, either. Even if the DS is backwards compatible. Though I gotta say...good luck actually finding some of these in stock.

Hell yeah. Store locator is telling me that I can actually find Astro Boy, Earthworm Jim 2 and Wario Ware at the nearest store.

Funny to see SIX Atlus titles actually DROPPING in price as opposed to rising.

Some good titles in there, and yes, probably a bit hard to find. Another con, no box or manuals. Still, this wont stop me from hunting down some cheap GBA titles that dont exist at my GS even though it says 1-3 ;) Thanks OP

Holy crap, wow those are some sick games. Usually when I think of the $4.99 games I think of the crap but most of them are awesome. Even though you don't get the manual it is still pretty cool to nab some great games for cheap.

Huh, actually some decent games there. I might have to pick some up if I ever see them in stores (and maybe wait until a B2G1 Free as I don't honestly have much interest in GBA games anymore).

And wow did Scurge: Hive go down quick, wasn't that released less than a year ago?

Awesome, between the three closest EBs around here, there are copies of Super Ghouls & Ghosts, Gunstar Super Heroes, Scurge: Hive, Tales of Phantasia, and Riviera. Definately picking em up later today. Wish one of em would've had a copy of Ninja Five O though.
Amongst the ones I checked, my store has Gunstar Super Heroes and both Summon Nights.

Now, do I want to spend money on them...
All of these games are great. You can generally find Gunstar Super Heroes at Toys R Us for $10, new and complete, if that's important to you. The Summon Nights are both incredibly fun and I don't regret paying full price for them. Astroboy and Riviera are also great choices.

Awesome, my GS totally has both Earthworm Jims and Mario Advance 3. Just in time for my trip next week. PWND!!1!!!
D'oh, of course I just bought Ninja-Five O for $7.99 2 weeks ago.

I'm fairly certain Gamestop doesnt price adjust, right?
I like how your Avatar suits you. You always seem to be worried about something.:)

picked up (got to check tonight to make sure everything works)

all after discount card

Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Eye of the Beholder 4.49
if it sucks i probally can resell it on ebay for a few bucks

Rapala Pro Fishing 4.49 forgot i already had this so off to goozex or ebay it goes or back to store if it dont work

Gunstar Super Heroes 4.49 wanted to try this game

and

shining soul 2 8.99 main reason i went over to the store

total was like 23 something

Gunstar Super Heroes, Ninja Five-O, and River City Ransom EX has my attention. Too bad Ninja Five-O is not available at any closest stores in the store locater

Just to remind you all, the GBA ports of the Earthworm Jim games are awful. The second one in particular is so broken that the password system doesn't work.

Even at $5, I'd stay away from those two...

Thanks. I was actually going to ask, because I remember the first not having a save (which kept me from ever buying it).

I might look for some of these. Can't beat $5.

Actually, you're right. The first one got decent reviews, looking at GameRankings, but doesn't have any kind of save points.

The second game is the one that's a buggy piece of trash. From the IGN review...
Jumping is definitely not as fluid as the original Earthworm Jim 2 on the consoles...his hyper jump/fall animation makes it difficult for players to pull off Jim's important "booger whip" move. Enemy sprites and objects seem to glitch all over the place in spots throughout the game. The action tends to slowdown in the most unlikely locations, killing the game's pace...and the gameplay's inconsistent, with some ledges that can be climbed upon, but others, identical in looks, that cannot. The GBA version of Earthworm Jim 2 even dishes out level passwords that either don't work at all, or load a game where you instantly die for no apparent reason. Beta-testing? What's that?

I might go get a copy of Mega Man and Bass later on. Ninja Five-0 isn't available anywhere in Metro Detroit, unfortunately. :)

Chances they're legit copies and not bootlegs, 50%. Seriously, check the cart out before. Cause GS does not train their employees to spot bootlegs.

Damn, I just bought Ninja Five-O, but it was like 9 days ago.... just barely outside the window for return/rebuy to save a few bucks.

Dammit, I was out of town and a Gamestop there had a complete Metal Slug Advance for $20. Now when I'm GONE they drop it to a reasonable price...

Thanks for the heads up Tsukento. I was able to pick up Riviera, I just wished it came with the manual/box, but for $10 you can't beat it. The funny thing was that one of the saved games on the cartridge was right at the scene where several of the female characters are bathing in the springs... ha, ha 8-[

How do you check if the game is original and not a bootleg?????

Awesome, I'm going to try for Ninja Five-O and Astro Boy (which I recently saw new at a local GS for $18 and passed up) tonight. Hopefully the store inventory at least goes 1 for 2. Thanks OP.

I just got Summon Night 1 from TRU; it is a good old school rpg, I am definitely going to look for 2. I have always wanted to try Riviera as well, can not resist at this price.

man i'd love to get some of these games but am a bit worried about bootlegs. what do you suppose the percentage of bootlegs at gamestop for GBA games is?

remember you cant delete the saves from rivera once something is unlock you cant lock it again

at these prices i really dont care if it is a bootleg, at least for the $5 games. Before you jump on my nuts, its not like buying a bootleg is costing the manufacturers any money, these games are out of print.

I guess it would be a problem for the RPGs where the bootlegs wont save.

Most of the ones i would want are all oos in my area, and that is a bit disappointing- i am in los angele, lots of stores, but no ghouls and ghosts. go figure.

i got a bootleg shinning soul 2 years ago LOL

it saved and everything. the only way you knew it was a bootleg on the back

NINTENDO Was NINTUNDO LOL

You might want to wash your copy. For all you know, someone might've been spanking it. :p
please add YMMV B&M only to thread title
Uh, why? It's not YMMV considering these prices are at EVERY GameStop. It's no B&M only either considering these games do sometimes pop up online. It's not only in-store, so I'm not adding that.
so GS decided to drop on some GBA titles? that could only mean one thing, they got plenty. :D
i am just waiting for them to drop the price on the GBA console
remember you cant delete the saves from rivera once something is unlock you cant lock it again
Wasnt there some sort of universal code that would delete all saves on a game? Or was it only for specific games......
Think you might be thinking of DS games there, Link927.
Actually, with a little googling, I remember it was only for the Advance Wars games, possibly more games. I didnt know you could do it with the DS games.

I really doubt Gamestop cares about training employees to spot bootlegs. They make a killing off GBA games, especially to unsuspecting parents who buy games like That's So Raven 2: Electric Boogaloo for their little brats.

As for Earthworm Jim, I concur with the CAG groupthink: A death of a thousand cuts is preferable to playing the GBA ports. I got a copy of EJ1 years ago on clearance at CompUSA while I was on a road trip, hoping to squeeze some entertainment out of the 12 hour ride. A fifteen minutes after starting it, I was back to staring out the window.
