My gaming time is very structured (family, wives, outdoor hobbies...) so if anyone is interested in teaming up I am on Xfire every Wednesday and Sunday 10:30 PM EST to 12:30 AM EST as Megazell.

Great stuff. Was wondering when someone would make a thread like this.
NP. I am going to keep this thread going for some time. I have a trunk full of USB sticks with a lot of these games. Just got to make sure my database is up to date and all the links work.

It has 4 different game modes or so based from different SHMUP games (Giga Wing, Psy something, Ikaruga, and a standard SHMUP). Tons of levels, very fun.

So I tried Dwarf Fortress (rather I gave it to the kids at the center after school)...It's not my cup of tea...but thanks for the recommendation. I use to play games like it when I was much younger.
Not a fan of ASCII graphics, but I like dabbling in some Nethack, paired with a pretty graphical interface (of which, I don't remember the name now... might have to google that).

This is quickly becoming a last-minute contender for "Thread of the Year", considering it is excelling at combining two of the strongest CAG tenets: Cheap (Free) & Gaming.
Great work. Keep 'em coming.

I have every SHUMP game ever released on the web. It's a personal hobby I have to get them all like Pokemon and attempt to beat them all like Michael Vick at a Peta rally with no cameras.
They are the perfect game for when company comes over too. Hand them a controller and get to work on that digital ass!

The PC section isn't so popular and typically there's little disruption to need frequent moderation. You should just look at who's currently online on the main section of the forums and PM any white bolded names if you really need anything.
Or just PMing any moderator would probably work.

Dude, same here too. I have all of Kenta Cho's work, and frequently visit 2bears/tigsource/indiegames.com and download SHMUPs like crazy.
My individual SHMUP folder is around 500MB+(not counting Touhou games)
So I'm guessing you played Blue Wish Resurrection Plus+?
Probably one of the best freeware SHMUPs ever.
Also recommend for SHMUPs:
Cho Ren Sha 68k
Warning Forever (BOSS RUSH INFINITY)
XED
Veck
Squid Yes, Not So Octopus

I posted a version of that one. One of my personal favorites.
There is one SHUMP that I have been looking for quite some time and never been able to find it. Came out in 1998. It was a SHUMP in which the shooter was a human running instead of a ship. Almost like a top down contra. I never ended it...and I lost it during the "Great Reformat of 98..."

Have you checked out Gunbound yet? Its a worms clone
I saved the link. Right now I am on duty so I will have to do it when I head to the center. Most of the games I am posting now are from an old database I have on my netbook.

Yo, gamemaster MZ so how do you go about finding your free games? Also if you have any more "horror", "squad-based', or "superhero" recommendations that'd be totally badical.
I have a strong hate in my heart to spend money on things that are considered a "WANT." So some of that helps.
Being honest...I use Google.

I actually have a lot more games that are free on my list but they are mods to existing games.
A great many of them have Super Hero themes because I am an avid comic book fan.
The thing is I want to keep this list simple and have people download - click - and play.
If they have to do special installations - Half the audience will die out because most people are use to pressing X and seeing colors - You dig?
So when I have extra time I am going to divide my free gaming database and post another ongoing thread for mods.

Legend of Princess is pretty awesome. The soundtrack's superb.
I suggest going over the DigiPen games. Namely, Empyreal Nocturne, Synaesthete (AWESOME), Narbacular Drop (predecessor of Portal)
