I got a couple free bookcases on FB, so I decided to trash the broken backing and replace it. I bought some wall paneling from a hardware store and made my own backing. A circular saw and a table work pretty well to cut it down, but some places will make one cut for you if you have the measurements. It will add a good amount of support, plus you can use finishing nails. I always save the materials when I buy bookcases/shelving, so I have them on hand usually.

It is really nice, the only thing I may suggest is adding a mending plate/bracket to each corner to prevent sagging amd to better line up the shelves to make a joint in the corners.

Haven't figured out the configuration I will be going with yet, that's just after the install from guy doing basement. I might use one less shelf, or smaller gaps for 1 or 2(for controllers and whatnot). Once that's ironed out, i might do that. Not really worried about sagging in the corners, but maybe in the middle of the longer shelves. My old closet shelves didn't sag too much, and they were cheaper home depot ones - these are better quality and thicker, though longer.

I wish I could find some of my older collection posts... but CAG's search function is complete garbage.
EDIT, maybe it wasn't that hard. I posted one pretty early in this thread... post 50-something. Haha, funny seeing much more cluttered my collection has become.

Last basement project did take about 2 yrs, but that finished 2.5 yrs ago. New house this summer.
Bought em from Home Depot like 5 yrs ago. Want to say they were clearanced at $60-70. They have something similar now but 2x-3x more.
I think they sell some at Costco, I bought 2 mega shelves to store some of my LEGO sets.
I finally got the shelves. These shelves were on sale at Costco for $56 so I picked up 3 of them. They are friggin' heavy though, close to 100 pounds I think. I almost broke my back loading them into the back of my SUV.

It's been awhile since I've updated pics.
Not much has changed though since the last update.
I've been slacking off. :*(

So I have had a few additions and made some changes to my game related collection. The wife is still not nearly as impressed as I am but at least I am to the point she can no longer tell if I get new stuff or not.

My attempts at making more space for stuff has failed, as stuff seems to roll in quicker than when I make space for it. :*(

It's always nice to get to that sweet spot where you can just pretend all those seemingly new toys have always been there. ;D

I randomly decided to go to K-Mart and I saw them selling 5 shelf bookshelves for 29.99. I'm tempted.

If it's the Mainstays one, it's at Walmart for a couple bucks cheaper.

Mainstays is a Walmart brand, so Kmart wouldn't carry it.

I found it on Kmart, and it is a different brand.
Thought it could have been the Sauder branding, which is the mother company, but doesn't even look like it's that.

I finally got all my shelves at my places... I actually wish I took better care of them b/c they're so much better than the junk shelves that are around these days.
Eventually, I get around to putting stuff on these shelves in some type of order.

Curse you and the sleekness of all the shelving Pooky!
I'm stuck with trying to cram stuff into whatever space I can find that will take a shelf atm.
Speaking of which, clearing up more space again soon for more nendos, so we'll see how that goes. ~_~

Yea, but it was 5x more than my last closet that I put together myself with Home depot shelves. I do think its 5x better though (and alot more space) so I think it was a good investment. Plus I don't plan on moving for another 20+ years so worth it.
Now I'm just waiting for a sick 75"ish 4K tv deal....

God damn, that's nice. I can't imagine how much time setting all of that up took... I remember seeing your shelves and thinking that was it, you just have put stuff on those shelves but everything in that room is so well put together.

Ha... glad I'm not the only one that felt that way. Adulting is harder than I thought it was.
