Today's Nintendo Direct may have started a little slow but, by the end, we were practically overwhelmed by ink-fuelled fun.
With that in mind, we though it'd be helpful to compile some of the biggest new announcements from today in one place. Check them out below.
Of course, that's not the only Nintendo news today. The company's financials revealed
strong lifetime sales of Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, along with a decision to team-up with Universal and add actual
Nintendo-themed rides to theme parks. It also managed to produce its

Splatoon amiibo would be able to unlock special outfits and challenges, but it appears there's even more available too. After you've completed the 20 challenges, you'll be able to unlock
one of three additional retro-inspired games that look (pretty awesomely) like NES titles.

Nintendo has announced
a special event mode, called Splatfest, will take place for 24-hours on June 20. In this event you'll be able to pick up some unique items that'll enable you to customise gear. While Splatfest won't happen every weekend, Nintendo has said it'll be "irregular", which suggests it won't just be a one-off!

how you'll be able to re-roll gear if you're not happy with something.

Nintendo also confirmed
free DLC, including maps, modes and weapons, will be coming once the game has launched. Though no schedule for such releases were announced, two of the new modes called Tower Control and Rainmaker were detailed.
Additionally, it was confirmed
party matchmaking and support for custom games with friends won't be added until August.
