Best Buy DOTD: $75 Gift Card + Free Game with Select Xbox One Consoles

Holy cow that is damn good..even on Black Friday they were not giving a 75 dollar gift card, they are practically BEGGING people to take the consoles..must be preparing for E3 when they announce the new XBOX ONES

I wonder if you can let it sit over time and pick up the console on Sunday and have the $50 price refunded, since consoles will be $50 cheaper starting Sunday.

They way they have it bundled, if you have the xbox one for in-store pick up and wait until the 29th it should update with the $50 discount pending on which bundle. The 1tb xbox are already discounted this week.

Ooooh Mirror's Edge pre-order as a free game wouldn't be bad.

ugh these deals are killing me

I have a Sling TV promo $50 gift card I need to put to use as well. Some of you should check that out. Pre pay Sling tv for $59.97 3 months and get $50 off streaming media device including Xbone. I'm going to bite I think. Any one know where I can get a movers for extra 10%?

What exactly are the Xbox One console exclusives?  Offhand I can think of Gears of War, Halo, Rare Collection, Sunset Overdrive, and Quantum Break.  What am i missing?

Forza, and I was going to mention launch titles Ryse/Dead Rising but those are available on PC. That's all I can think of at the moment.

Edit: This list should help. http://gematsu.com/exclusives/xbox-one

Thanks for that list. I have a PS4 already so I'm not worried about Rise of the Tomb Raider....

From that list the games I see that I want are below. If I can get the console for $300 with a $75 gift card...is that worth it to play these?

Current releases:
Quantum Break
Rise of the Tomb Raider (will release on PS4)
Sunset Overdrive (have this through Games With Gold so I can play it free)

Upcoming games:
Crackdown 3
Gears 4
Halo Wars 2
Recore (if it's good)
Scalebound (if it's good)

So if you wait to pick it up until Sunday when the new weekly ad starts where all Xbox's are $50 off, you're essentially saving:
$50 (savings)
$75 gift card
$50 (free game that you'd buy in the future, especially with Pre-orders)

Tempting

I don’t think the price adjustment will occur if anybody tries to place an order and wait to pick up on Sunday. I know some cags reported it working but that was a long time ago. I tried doing the same for some game titles when they went on sale the following week and confirmed that the price did not adjust to the lower value which caused me to call CS about the adjustment. E3 isn’t for another 3 weeks so there should be even better deals later on. There’s a chance that if a retailer advertises a bundled offer that week and if some of the speculation ends up being true that a price drop is announced, the deals will stack on top of each other.

I’m in the market for an X1 but I’m going to wait it out.

I did it earlier this month with a BR and two months ago on a smart remote.

It's iffy when you try it with games with GCU because the program for lowest price pick ups aren't coded with GCU membership in mind. Not everyone has it so it's not automatic upon pick up.

Everything else is Gucci.

I bought it anyways I like the white XB1, I'll just keep it in package until after E3.

You’re right thanks for pointing that out. I think the GCU does screw it up while this wouldn’t apply with GCU (although the free game would get a bundle discount). If the deal stacks I think it’s worth biting but we won’t know until Sunday.

So I’m tempted to place an order and if somebody reports that the discount doesn’t automatically adjust, I’ll just cancel the order. Does anybody know what happens when you cancel an order that comes with a gift card that’s mailed out to you? Do you just pay for the value of the gift card against your credit card? I remember years ago folks were getting banned for cancelling bundled items to get the free games/promotions. It’s not worth the hassle to me if I’m in trouble for cancelling a bundled order that came with a free gift card. I’m fine with paying $75 for the gift card if it defaults to that situation. I wouldn’t want to go the pick and return route since my free game would be one of the preorders.

It's basically $175 for an Xbox One. :whee:

Yeah if you cancel they will charge you for the GC and game. Hint just pick up the console and return it. :whistle2:$

Yeah i was considering just holding onto it and returning it after e3 but I was thinking of using my free game as a preorder and am afraid keeping the order open will retroactively open me up to issues down the line. So I was thinking it's safer to just cancel the order online on Sunday if the price doesn't update.

No ban issues with canceling a bundled order?

You can't cancel a store pick-up order when it's 'ready for pick-up' on your own. You'd have to let it wait the entire pick up period or call customer service to do so. I know that they'll ship you out the gift card right away, so while that'll be shipped today or tomorrow, you're not going to even attempt to pick up the console till Sunday. So you might have to call them and say void the gift card and refund me if you were to cancel as well.

No, I've done so before -- nothing wrong with canceling a bundle.

Ok thanks for the reassurance guys. Now I’m wondering if I should even use a preorder placeholder as my free game selection. I remember when BB had that famous 50% off glitch with Skylanders, people had their discounted orders charged in full when they messed around with the other items …

I wonder if MS will announce a Gears-themed xbone slim version though. The game is coming out around the time the consoles should be releasing so I wonder if they’ll be releasing a special 1TB Gears console. That’s going to be hard to resist too.

If they release a special Gears themed slim console it will have a 2TB HDD in it.

YMMV but you might be able to get a store to stack today's deal on top of next weeks trade-in deal:

  • Get up to $100 toward a new Xbox One when you trade any working Xbox 360 or PS3 console
Trade in any working Xbox 360 or PS3 console and receive a $70 coupon toward an Xbox One console. Trade in a working and in fair condition Xbox 360 250GB E Series console or Sony PlayStation 3 250GB Super Slim and receive up to a $30 gift card.

I just googled information about the new consoles and it's basically what this generation of consoles SHOULD have been in the first place. fucking infuriating.

I'm probably gonna try this, I really no longer need one of the old white X360s, and I can't imagine I'll ever get anywhere near $70 for it anywhere again. If the gift card won't end up stacking it's pretty much the same amount of the gift card.

what makes this YMMV? do they really have a jacked up policy to not allow gift cards from trade-ins?

So what happens if I get the Tomb Raider 1 TB console (on sale now for $369)? Will that price hold if I order now and pickup Sunday? This won't screw up the extra $50, will it?

edit:derp looks like I'm too late

For anyone that's picking up the bundle on Sunday, can you confirm if the price of your console changed? And if not, post if you'll be trying to get an adjustment and your result.

The 1tb consoles are $320 now (tomb raider bundle and rainbow six bundle).  If only I had known, I wouldn't have gotten the 500gb model for $350 in hopes of a price adjustment to $300 on Sunday.  Only a $20 price difference between the 500gb and 1tb.

I actually would have thought they would have been $349 but looks like thats only for the Division Bundle.

Oh well I still like the white one better.

Although if The Rainbow Six bundle came with a physical disc then it would have been worth flipping to gamestop for $40 with the bonus 50% promo

Yea, it would have been logical to assume all the 1tb consoles would drop to 350 from the regular price of 400. I too ordered the white xb1 because it looks a lot nicer, however the top and front are no longer a glossy finish like the older white ones. It's now a matte finish. Not as nice, but does not scratch as easily and no finger print marks.

From the Best Buy Price Match Guarantee page:

"How does your price match policy apply to purchases made using store pickup?

If you purchase an item at BestBuy.com (which includes a purchase from a Smartphone application/website, BestBuy.com orders with store pickup, and orders from the kiosk inside a Best Buy store) and if the item is offered at a lower price in the store when you pick it up, you will automatically pay the lower price."

From support page: "If your product is available at a lower price in the store at the time you pick it up, your original form of payment will be automatically adjusted to reflect the lower price. Some exclusions apply."

Because we ordered the Xbox One with a free gift card and game, I'm not sure if the above will still apply.
