It has nothing to do with enjoying a simpleton kid shooter, even though I dont have a clue in hell how you do. Its absurd to say that its a GOTY, even if a kiddie shooter is your favorite game, it does not mean it's the GOTY. It's like saying fortnite (which it probably was) was your GOTY last year. A game which you are paired up with 9 year olds, run around, die, and repeat. Theres not really anything there. Same with apex.
Dont get upset. Maybe if you have a kid one day you can play it with them and have the same amount of enjoyment lol
BTW : D4 Dark Dreams Dont Die was a very good game
Apex is objectively a great game. The shooting is smooth, the TTK being longer gives it a more strategic approach to other shooters where you have a decent option to run and heal. The legends have varying abilities to add to the depth of the Rock Paper Scissors feel of what beats what. The new map added more variation to the distance of firefights. If you have been playing shooters since Counter Strike then you would see the movement and fluidity in Apex brings new things to the genre. People that have played shooters for a long time can at least appreciate what Apex brought to the table even if they prefer a short TTK like in CoD.
I know it might feel “cool” to hate on popular things but one day when your grown up you will realize that it’s okay for great things to be great. You don’t have to pretend to hate popular things to fit in.
D4 was fine, I got bored of it pretty quick. The gameplay loop was a bit slow and I think I had other things in my backlog I wanted to play more so I only put about an hour into it, but if that was your game of the year (a game that came out in 2014), more power to you.
