Did anyone ever purchase the Long Dark? I remember having positive feelings about it from game preview and it was always sort of on my list to try. Surprised it has never dropped at the unquestionable $5 range.

Yeah, i bought it when it was still in game preview, they dropped the price to $8 before full release, totally worth it.

Theyre still releasing free episodes for it, but even just the sandbox mode stands well on its own.

I'm patiently waiting for a sale on The Orange Box for 360, so I can add it to the backlog at a reasonable price

I want to say that happened in the $5.99 range or maybe $4.99 at some point, looking at my install list

Really enjoying Indivisible so far. Great mix of Metroidvania and RPG with some battle mechanics that have a bit of a fighter feel to them.

Free Play Weekend for Mortal Kombat 11 starting tomorrow.  All current characters are usable, including Detective John Kimble.

In tangentially related news, it's been a real day watching the backlash against Blizzard/Activision

I can safely say, I won't be buying any more of their games.

It’s a crazy world we live in right now where sectors like entertainment and gaming, which used to be so separate from world politics, are front and center in politics and global issues. I miss the good old days of small studios and games as an art and not currency generator or political machine.

So last year Bethesda lost allot of good will and faith with Fallout 76 and the problems that came with that. Then Bioware released Anthem and basically killed their credibility with their lack of support and such. Now Blizzard is involved in an international incident with them coming out as putting money over freedoms. My question now is what other B titled game studio is next to mess up? Bungie you best watch yourself and not be involved with human trafficking or something!

Gaming has always been influenced by international business and politics (the rights to Tetris, Nintendo censoring games, etc) but I think this is the first time it's been so directly linked to a human rights issue and a company took the side of the oppressor.

Funny that Bungie was accused of catering to Activision's greed and overly monetizing the game, only for them to go independent and F2P. Meanwhile, the Diablo mobile game is just a reskin of a popular Chinese mobile hack-and-slash and they are really going all-in for the Chinese mobile market.

Makes you wonder if Bungie saw the writing on the wall and got out while they could, most studios wouldn't have that kind of mobility.

Good thing GearBox and Randy Pitchford are beyond reproach and controversy free.  Oh wait....

I appreciate the sentiment and support of Hong Kong, but it's hard to fully understand the complexity here.  This was apparently during an actual event with rules of conduct.  If this had been a Trump supporter doing similar things, would as many people be upset with Blizzard for shutting him down and violating free speech?

Yes

I hope you're right, but my observation is that only a small percentage of people truly care about true equity and equality.  The remainder just want their side and point of view to be heard and agreed with (regardless of which side that is).

The issue is complex if the Trump supports was supporting Hong Kong they would get support. The issue with them I think is they usually throw their hat with the wrong side.

Basically if you don't abide by the terms of the company putting on a competition, you can expect some repercussions.  I've read online that Blizzard's rules for their competitions can be a bit vague, but doing something as blatantly political as this Grandmaster did leaves little room for confusion.

Those rules are there to protect the company from backlash outside of the competition and prevent players with big mouths from using the competition as a soapbox for their agenda.

Epic climbs the ropes to give an elbow drop.

It seems like a good time to leave though since they are transitioning to the new console so it’s a good time to pass the torch.

Seems like punishing the guy for supporting Hong Kong brought alot more attention to it than if they had done nothing at all.  Who pays attention to Hearthstone anymore?

Should be fun when Epic has to test that since they are 48.5% owned by Tencent

I wondered the same thing, but Tim Sweeney still owns a majority of Epic.  Will be interesting to see if if Tencent cares more about money or their government.  I'm sure if they wanted out, others will be more than willing to buy into the Fortnite money train.

The problem is that if Blizzard allows it there, they basically have to allow it everywhere and/or can't keep it under control.

hmm looking around the site did anyone try the arena rewards? I did this one and got $25 for Dell:

https://na.alienware...com/quests/1767

Tried the gears and xbox one but only got XP for the alienware site. The dell one says it could take a few weeks to load up the money but I wonder if we can use it on xbox credit.

I ended up getting the $25 for Dell today. Just purchased a $10 and $15 Xbox gift card.

I won 25.00 over a month ago and it still hasn't shown up in my account.

If you go to the store page, it'll probably let you reinstall it, even if it's not in your ready to install list.

Not to chastise you or anything, but if the Orange box does go on sale and you backlog it immediately.....bruh(or brah), this is like getting Super Mario All-Stars on SNES(Super Mario Bros 1-3, the Lost Levels and Super Mario World) for mere dollars and then shelving it. You GOTTA at least fire up some of those games asap it you've never played em. Portal, Half Life 2 and all the expansions, Team Fortress 2(not sure how active it is online atm), but damn......all those games are AAA material at their finest. The majority of gamers agree on that sentiment

Hell, just buy the Orange Box full price. It's that damn good

On topic: I wanna get Turok 2 for $7.99 but T1 dropped to $5 before, so I can be a cheap ass for a deeper discount. I'm confident my patience will pay off

That's where I went since it's not in ready to install.  The "install" is faded out where you cant click it
