AC Odyssey PS4/XB1 $19.99 Amazon

Great price, though just be careful as this year's iteration is not an AC game, just in name only.
I mean this is clearly an evolution on Origins which was a great game as well I thought. Personally I loved Odyssey. Was one of my favorite games from last year, everything was so fluid, loved the world and characters and the loot!

Would anyone happen to know or recall if AC:Origins Gold ever went on sale for Black Friday for $20 or $30? If so, I'd prefer to wait to get the full Odyssey experience at that price since I've waited this long already.

You won't get that price until all content is released and that won't be until Summer, IIRC.

There are 2, 3 pack stories and they only released 2 of Part 1 so far.

The game is worth every penny of $20.  It has so much content.

I just wish Ubisoft would put the Season Pass on sale as much as they do the main game.

I think the cheapest the Gold Edition went was $50, my friend managed to get it for $25 since Target merged the SKUs.

Also available for $20 at Gamestop!

It's too bad they milked this franchise so hard; I always hear great things now, but can't get over how bored of the genre I am thanks to its predecessors.

I'm just trying still trying to pick up origins on sale.

I never have any luck at target when they merge the skus.  My local stores always get picked clean

Awesome, only heard great things about it. Loved Origins so much...wanted to wait awhile to play this game but can’t beat the price. Thanks OP for the heads up.

For those that have played both... if I play this game before Origins, will it ruin the Origins experience?  Not storywise, but gameplay.

I will wait for a complete GOTY edition. Since there is no AC game in 2019 we may even see ubi bundle both games in one package with all the dlc

UbiSoft never does that. The Gold Edition just collects dust and eventually drops price.

This price is great but I prefer waiting until I beat AC:Origins with its DLC.

Origins Gold Edition digital for Xbox was $33 with the Fall sales last year. Have seen that price at least once more since then, too.

The gameplay can be an evolution of Origins though as a franchise and series, it’s ten steps back. You’re a merc, and the game is a hack and slash. There’s no more stealth, no hidden blade, you just fly around the map (not literally) without dying from jumping off 1,000 meter cliffs, and turn to flames to cut down your enemies.

Does that really sound like an Assassin’s Creed game to you?

the reason i think it could be different this year is due to lack of new AC game in 2019. It would make a lot of sense to package both games together with all the DLC and charge $60

Oh my bad, see i dont pay attention to digital. I was thinking he was wanting physical for the Steelbook

Same. I have franchise fatigue. I got Rogue free via GwG and I'm not even motivated to install or play it even though I've heard good things. Will just wait for Odyssey to hit GwG in 5 years.

I'm in the same boat, though I hear that Odyssey is the new IV Black Flag, in that it's one of the best and most innovative in the series. I heard Origins was great but compared to Odyssey, it was just a proof of concept. I'd pick this up right now if I didn't still have GCU

I wholeheartedly disagree.

I’ve been loving the AC series for over a decade. The first had me hooked, and I dove in deep throughout the years collecting everything from statues, art, shoes, if it was AC related, I owned it. Oh and I 100%/platinumed every game too. Put in around 140 hours into Origins as well. Then along came odyssey. Got it launch day October 2, and put 21 hours into it the first week. And I’ve never touched it since. I do follow the official ubi forums to check for the constant patch changes as well.

I just cannot stand the new design, be it the rubber banding like Mario kart, forced level scaling, how you can never get ahead. Shoot someone in the eye with an arrow? That’s -20 damage. Stab a spear through their torso? Nope, doesn’t kill someone. Even at level 70, fighting a wolf is a challenge without superpowers. And don’t get me started on the adrenaline, having to turn into flames to do 2x damage, jumping off 100 meter cliffs without dying, oh yeah and no hidden blade.

I truly have no idea how or why this is titled as an AC game when it has nothing to do with the series. Some have suggested it was just branding to push sales.

Make sense. Even original creators of AC had rules on what all AC games should have and origins went away from it

Ubi is at RPG trend right now don't worry in few years they will move on to something else. Right now almost all their games have RPG elements even the new dawg

You sure that was Odyssey and not Origins that got merged? Brickseek shows Odyssey Gold still easy to find.

Will have to check.

What are you talking about? Ubi has released collections plenty of times - examples include the Prince of Persia trilogy and the Splinter Cell collections on PS3, the Far Cry collection on the 360 (that btw had the DLC only release of Dragon Blood on-disc), and recently the Ezio trilogy on PS4.

And "never" doesn't mean much anymore. Nintendo never released remakes, ports, or HD remasters - but all of those practices don't mean anything anymore.

Given UBI's light 2019 schedule, makes perfect sense the company would look to re-release a complete edition or collection to help revenues over the holidays. Given we're nearing the end of this console generation, it's the time when publishers look to capitalize one last time with their earlier game releases. Look at the WB which is publishing a collection of its Marvel LEGO games.

Question: I never liked previous versions of AC; never felt it was a "stealth" game when I could just stab everyone in face, run away, and then come back like nothing happened.

Last one I played was Black Flag and I'm wondering if a lot has changed since then. Thanks.

Pretty much the same thing here. With added bounty and mercenaries systems which make it more detailed or annoying (depending on your point of view).

Sitting in the bushes for 3 minutes is still one of the weakest parts of the gameplay. That said, this game adds a lot of other areas of solid gameplay - so there's more to appreciate. This was my first AC game since AC3 and I liked it pretty well, 8/10.

odyssey would definitely NOT be for you. See my above description of the game. This is not a real AC game, it's a free roam hack and slash where you use superpowers to kill people.

I've really enjoyed my time with AC: Odyssey, although I haven't burned out on open-world games lately. It's definitely a big departure from the first couple of games, but you can still be stealthy to an extent. I like to go slow and use stealth and take my time at all the forts, etc.

It also helps that ancient Greece is one of my favorite settings :)

AC3 is a pretty low benchmark though. It's arguably the worst of all the AC games to prior to the revamped gameplay of Origins and Odyssey.

Waiting on BestBuy's $19.99 and its ever wonderful Gamer's Club Discount plus the $1.00 off in-store pickup.

Till then I can perfectly wait!

Ubi likes to put out collections when AC has an off year. The last one was the Ezio Trilogy and this year its the ACIII/Liberation remaster. They save the "everything" bundles for on going games like The Division and Rainbow Six Siege.

Man when is Target gonna merge SKUs on the Gold Edition for Odyssey?
From how all my Targets have been (and the few near my friend who lives an hour away from me) it sounds like they aren't merging SKUs anymore. At least mine haven't, there's an actual slot that contains Far Cry 5 Gold with $59.99 as the listed price

Yeah I heard the same. I hope that it's not true for everything. Guess we'll find out throughout 2019.

Was going to pick up at gamestop but used a $5 reward and price matched at Best Buy since Amazon was doing it. A steal and a great game.

Xbox Live has several editions of ACO discounted

$24 Vanilla
$26.40 Deluxe
$33 Gold
$39.60 Ultimate

So be thoughtful before trying GameStop or Amazon for the $20 physical Vanilla
