Steam Sales Elsewhere on CAG - Updated 11/2

Indie Bundle Threads - Updated 8/26

Free Stuff - Needs Updating

There are quite a few free and free2play games and mods on steam. You can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Most of his highlight plays in his career started off negative yards - that's just the nature of the game, you're a genius if the play works, or a dud if it doesn't.
1-7 passing for -1 yard, not a single play for a negative yard. It's a compilation of awfulness and he needs to give up on being a QB. He would make a good tight end/h back type guy.

Has anyone tried Wanderlust?

The look reminds me of Zenonia, but the listing mentions both Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana, which play completely different from eachother.

I tried the demo some months ago. I found it really boring. I don't know why people compare it with Chrono Trigger or SoM. Is really far from both

Okay I bought Hate Plus at full price 10% off. My CAG card is officially revoked.

In my defense, I bought it with Cardz moniez and will actually play it when I get home tonight.

idn't see it mentioned yet but they formalized this week's "Weeklong Deals" into the actual sales heading "Games from Paris".

http://store.steampowered.com/sale/Games_From_Paris

There are a few others not listed on this page as well (such as Bad Rats!)
My first thought is lots of games with crappy DRM there. The French like crappy DRM.

On a related not though, Of Orcs and Men is kind of tempting now that they removed the afforementioned crappy DRM.

Yeah I noticed that last month here.

I'm tempted but really can't see myself paying more than $5 for it, since it would probably go straight to the ol' backlog.

Also, Mindlink.

Yesterday you wanted an example of a bundled game on sale on Steam.

Stellar Impact (currently in the Groupees Meridian4 Bundle) is a weeklong.

Agreed on both counts. I want it but I have a strong suspicion that I'll be disappointed in it. So I don't want to pay over $5. At the same time, it's all GabeN Cardz Funbux so... :whistle2:k

Same here. I'm told collectors will start paying a premium for these though, since adding the game this way actually adds the game permanently to your account unlike the now Free To Play version.

So, no exclusives for us. Bleh. Not that I've played it beyond tutorials (or plan to play it), but still...

i started up a groupbuy for trackmania ($7), shootmania ($7), ravaged ($5), and orion ($2here

i encourage everyone to stay away from wanderlust. i remember wanting that game so badly and got it for myself and friends a few sales ago. it was terribly boring. usually games become at least twice as fun when you play them with friends, but wanderlust was just abysmal. there was no satisfying moment in combat. all the levels just feel like work. i dont think there was a story worth mentioning. it plays nothing like zelda or secret of mana. screenshots make it look that way, but once you play it, you realize youve made a big mistake.

I'd zombie apocalypse.

Not sure if anyone besides me bought Saints Row 4 from Nuuvem, but up til today they've listed the release date as 8/23 and today it's been adjusted to 8/20! No key so far, though. I read that Greenman has been distributing keys today.

I've heard that the Saints Row 4 keys Nuuvem will be distributing are BR only and must be activated via VPN.

CAG post of the day, right here.

The worst thing about Wanderlust is that it *looks* fun, and part of you nags away thinking that it'll be good. It really isn't.

I've just started playing Hammerwatch and that scratches a similar itch, but conversely it's actually fun. It's not amazing, but it's fun enough. Worth keeping an eye on.

A pair of older tidbits:

It's not listed in the store, but Audiosurf 2 drops next month as an Early Access title.

Call of Duty: Ghosts' executive producer Mark Rubin: "PC is taking a different tack from previous games [in the series,]" he said. "Now, PC has its own set of assets, it's going to look better than any Call of Duty we've ever made on PC."

"They're actually using an even higher version in many cases than the next-gen consoles, from a texture standpoint."

I don't believe that's true. I read on CAG that the North America version is locked and people were freaking out over it and trying to cancel on Nuuvem. But I checked the Brazil steam store and they're selling a region free version. This is the NA version http://steamdb.info/sub/29292/ and this is what's listed on Brazil Steam store http://steamdb.info/sub/28361/

If anyone located outside of NA and bought it from NA, you may be in trouble. But it appears to me that the one from Brazil is ROW with no locks whatsoever. Although if Nuuvem sends me a key that's different than what Brazil Steam store is displaying, I could be fucked over... hope that doesn't happen!

Ohhhh shoot disregard, there is a BR version that exists in Steam registry.... uh oh.

oh Audiosurf... I wanted so badly to be good at that game when I first played it. I loved the concept and the visual effects, but I was just so terrible at it. I could only play the most simplest mode (pointer i think?). I had to settle for Beat Hazard, which isn't as great because the music doesnt really affect the gameplay as much as it does in audiosurf.

Anyway, Id give them my money, even if i DO suck at their game.

...but ill wait till its in an indie bundle ;P

Do what Idiotekque does. Play it to porn soundtracks.

I couldn't get into Audiosurf. I liked Beat Hazard, but it's like you said.. the music doesn't affect the gameplay that much. I actually preferred Symphony to both games. Music doesn't affect gameplay as much as audiosurf, but it does it better than Beat Hazard, and it's more fun to play than both of those games IMO. Plus, it has more progression than Beat Hazard. You gain new items/weapons whenever you finish a song (some of which you can equip to your ship, so you can have a custom layout), and you have to defeat "demons" to advance in the game.

I requested an order cancellation from nuuvem, hope it's not too late. Hope that google translated my request into portugese accurately. If they send me a locked key, any suggestions on what I should do with it? Some kind of Brazil VPN I could use?

GOGINDIE_zps102e9fad.png

GOG's answer to Steam's dim Greenlight. This should be fun.

Meh, most exciting thing about that for me is it might actually embarrass Valve enough to get off their ass and do some more work on the whole Greenlight thing.

But probably not.

GOG doing that is just going to attract the usual suspects, basically indie stuff and it's just going to basically be Desura but without the optional client and with a 'process'.

Since they've already been adding various indie games anyway I kind of see this more as thumbing their noses at Valve than anything else.

I'm looking at the Gothic universe, seems the only way to get Gothic 1. Are there any mods to enhance those games?
Not really. There's a mod to unlock the FPS cap on Gothic 1 but 99% of the mods for G1 and G2 just cause more problems. G3 needs to be played the the 'Community Patch.'

Re: GOG's 'shot' at Steam Greenlight -- lol @ the 'we're not machines part.' I know a developer who got Greenlit and has nothing but praise for the contact and help he's received from Valve. As far as those that don't... well... surprise. There are hundreds (maybe over a thousand by now?) of games submitted. Good luck with GOG trying to personally handle/manage every two-bit developer that submits their game.

We already knew that Microsoft was going to stop selling GFWL games. I guess shutting it down was inevitable. Hopefully purchases will live on in the form of keys for other services.

"Games for Windows Live will be discontinued on July 1, 2014. Although it is available through Steam, Age of Empires Online requires features of the Games for Windows Live service. You can continue to enjoy all the features of Age of Empires Online as the service will remain 100% operational until July 1, 2014 when the server will shut down. Please visit the Age of Empires Online forums for additional details."

Good luck on the refund - sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Gonna have a hard time not buying that at... 50% off. I know, I'm a heathen.

Just should say, though, the official title is Audiosurf Air, I believe.

Yeah, I love the game, but I've gotten really good at the Mono Pro character. It's all twitch gaming with Mono Pro, one mistake and you're restarting the level, but it's so damn satisfying when you hit just about every colored block and don't hit any greys, get the big bonuses, and see how you stack up against the global leaderboards. I tend to play slightly obscure tracks so that I have a chance at top spot, and it's a challenge trying to get it, but it's awesome when you do.

Music influences the game so extremely well, that really just does it for me. Beat Hazard is kind of a joke as far as music influencing the game, even if it's still amusing for an hour or so. It's just really fun to play with different songs and genres on Audiosurf. Chiptune is a great genre to play to, happy hardcore is fucking nuts, and crazy breakcore kinda shit like Loliripe is unreal.

There's also SO many different ways to play the game, and each play style is pretty damn different and takes a totally new approach to things. It's an extremely deep game, despite there being no progression.

If you can't tell, I'm fairly addicted to the game. It's my favorite "puzzler", though I guess it's part racer.

Do what Idiotekque does. Play it to porn soundtracks.
In my defense, I haven't done that. I just linked you the video of someone who did, lol.

Glad I decided not to buy Runner 2. Had a chance to play it the other day and not that's it's a bad game, but it's extremely hard and requires a lot of memorization and split second reflexes.

Still need to install my copy of Wanderlust sometime, but that will be some other time. Waiting for Saints Row 4. Ordered a Hard PC copy from Amazon because it was $50 + the $10 credit. Should be in tomorrow unless prime fails.

It' s a pass then. Thanks!

Doesn't 2 have checkpoints though? I've played a bit of the first one, and yeah, it's a brutal game of high speed visual Simon Says, more or less. The first game doesn't have checkpoints though...
