Alright I don't want to cause a panic or anything, but my ghost editions on Amazon were both just canceled, by amazon. About 30 minutes ago. Now I'm afraid for my Gamestop pre-order...

Only the PS4 and Xbox One have been affected with the cancellations.

We, like other retailers, have experienced high demand in pre-orders for Destiny and are not able to secure enough product to fulfill all of our pre-orders. This has resulted in some order cancellations for the Limited Edition version of Destiny on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Only those versions are impacted and all cancellations occurred last night, 8/5/14.

My ps4 ghost pre-order is still active but it has a july 7th date, I placed it pretty much minutes after the link went live.  I'm kinda surprised if the SKU was available for pre-order for 2 days.

 
I have the Limited Edition for PS4 preordered that was not cancelled. And have been contemplating keeping or going with the Digital Guardian Edition, when I heard some of these orders were getting cancelled and been given $50 gift cards I was kind of hoping mine would be one of the cancelled ones, it was not.

So if there is anyone looking to still get the Physical "Limited Edition" for PS4 I would be willing to sale you mine for your $85 ($79.99 cost with gamers club unlocked + $5 tax) plus the $50 gift card which you should be able to purchase a $50 PlayStation Network Card on your account and send to me.

And once payment has been fully received I will have the shipping address changed on my order to your address I have it set up with Expedited shipping so you should receive it on or close to release date.

Dumb question... but I'm assuming the code that comes with the Xbox 360 Destiny edition won't work on the Xbox One, will it? I was able to nab a Ghost Edition from Amazon for the 360 a while back... but I was kind of taking a shot in the dark hoping the codes would work... >_<

They haven't announced anything about DLC being cross gen. You can take your character between 360 and XB1, but as far as we know, DLC won't transfer. I could be mistaken, but I couldn't find anything stating otherwise.
 
Bungie shot themselves in the foot for this one I think.  I guess they don't care about sales because they anticipate revenue from the standard edition. They should have flooded the market with Limited/Ghost Editions so these people on Ebay aren't getting $450+ dollars for it. It's so ridiculous after seeing a few sold at $500-600 in Buy It Now's. My PS4 Ghost Edition was canceled on July 21st and I preordered at Best Buy. They didn't compensate me anything or give me a $50 promo code.

I'm curious about this as well. I'm thinking best case scenario is that you could redeem the codes on 360 and then everything would carry over to the Xbone, but I'd be surprised if it works this way for the expansion pass. I'd be even more surprised if you could redeem the 360 codes on Xbone without needing to go through the 360 at all.

 
it is highly, highly unlikely the season passes will carry over platforms - titanfall, bf4, cod, etc none of them did.  The season passes are usually platform specific key codes redeemed on PSN / xbox live and redeem for a specific platform as a DLC bundle.

BF4 still carries over. Ghosts carried over but ended in May. I don't think Destiny will but there is a chance it could.

i mean if it i was micro$oft, i would hold out, to get the one i want. since they release limited edition consoles regularly like it is nothing. i am surprised they scrapped the plan for titanfall limited edition console for xbox one, instead putting all their eggs on the sunset overdrive white xbox one bundle. they better hope it pan out for them.

Yep Microsoft drops them shits left and right, that's why most of them are never worth anything. I do love that SO console. I'll pass though, trading in my XB1 wouldn't fetch enough to cover most of it like my PS4 did.

This is one of those situations where it's impossible to say how things would have went if certain things didn't happen. Like, back when the CEs were first announced, I recall them having a lukewarm reception. However, once the news came out that Amazon sold out of the Ghost edition, people started looking at it with rarity first, quality / content second and that resulted in a few things happening. For starters, it resulted in flippers buying a bunch to resell, with "decent" people preordering multiples to make sure they "don't get screwed." This also added increased interest in the LE, which sold out shortly after and because of its perceived rarity, I'm not ashamed to admit THAT was what made me go LE instead of standard (I didn't really want to lock myself into an expansion pass again).

Now if those items were easier to find and I'm not saying CoD Ghost level easy, but like Kingdom Hearts 1.5 art book easy, I don't think the demand will be anywhere as high and I do suspect the edition would have hit $70 ~ $80 for the Ghost edition.

Depends the game and how they do it. Like CoD did cross-buy at launch and for a while after, where as BF 4 only did it for the premium pass (this pissed off many people because if you upgraded your last-gen copy and got a code for China Rising, you did NOT get current-gen version of the map pack). It's entirely possible Destiny might include this as a way to increase says at no extra money (why feature cross-gen characters, but make the cost to upgrade absurd?), though only time will tell.

you know who is probably the most pissed off, those people who bought those white employee edition xbox one for those crazy prices. they must be kicking themselves if the sunset overdrive white xbox one actually do releases, because right now it is still rumors until real confirmation. those are going for $1000+

If the white X1 is true then I'll be selling my black one to get it. I know I'll lose money doing that but I just love the look of the white. I got the Destiny bundle pre-ordered too.

Those will still be rare since they have the "I made this" text on them. The people who bought them are most likey collectors, they'll still go for a lot even when the white SO console comes out.

Thanks to checking this thread was able to snag a PS3 Limited Edition. Still looking for a Ghost but nice to know I've at least got a non-Peter Dinklage version waiting for me should the local stores fail.
