This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Annnnd the overnight markdowns (looks like a lot of pricedrops unless I'm mistaken--and not even great ones at that) for those that check this thread exclusively without checkng XBLDB:

Warhammer® 40,000®: Space Marine® - $19.99 - 50% off
Sonic Generations - $19.99 - 33% off
SONIC FREE RIDERS - $19.99 - 20% off
DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION - THE MISSING LINK - $5.99 - 60% off
Aliens: Colonial Marines - $19.99 - 50% off
Resonance of Fate - $19.99 - 20% off
Thief - $49.99 - 17% off
Yeah, definitely price drops. Acording to Major Nelson, what we got last night were the deals.

Just noticed that Halo Anniversary is $15 at Microsoft Store so I finally broke down and bought it, plus another as a gift for a friend. I'm still annoyed that you can't buy it digitally.
Halo Master Chief Collection. Day one digital for me. All the Halo goodness at a moments notice

They only recommend it if you are physically there. If you login from New York then 10 minutes later you login from San Francisco, they might get suspicious.

The following are some of the things that count as "Marketplace Theft" that might apply to game sharing.
◦Transferring licenses to your console from an account that you didn’t create

◦Using any sort of “shared” account to avoid having to pay for games or content.

◦Fraudulently transferring content licenses.

◦Sharing account credentials.

Someone had asked what songs were included in the new Dance Central game. Here's the list:

Avicii – “Wake Me Up”
Cher Lloyd – “I Wish”
David Guetta ft. Sia – “Titanium”
Jason Derulo ft. 2 Chainz – “Talk Dirty”
Kid Ink ft. Chris Brown – “Show Me”
Lorde – “Royals”
OneRepublic – “Counting Stars”
Pharrell Williams – “Happy”
Rihanna – “Diamonds”
will.i.am ft. Justin Bieber – “#thatPOWER”

If those aren't enough, you can further customize your soundtrack thanks to our giant DLC catalogue. There are already 50 songs available for purchase as of today, from artists like Maroon 5, TLC, Selena Gomez, and Calvin Harris, each for only $1.99.

Did we mention that if you bought any DLC for previous Dance Central games, you can redownload those songs at no extra charge as we make them available in the store?

Warhammer Space Marine is one of those games that was kinda rough but really fun and very promising, where a sequel that built on its strengths could have really blown the doors off. Sadly we'll never see it.

I think calling Warhammer rough is a bit unfair. I thought the game was pretty great (for what it was trying to be) and the mechanics and presentation seemed solid. I'd love to see a sequel and I wouldn't necessarily rule it out. The Warhammer universe is pretty longstanding and other Warhammer games are coming out.

$20 for it is a bit steep, though. It should be no more than $10 if it's on sale (which it doesn't appear to be a sale) considering its age and other factors.

How is Prototype 1? I actually own the sequel on disc, picked it up for $4 or 5 a while ago but haven't played it. Is it worth playing the first one first or should I not bother and go straight to 2?
I liked 'Hulk: Ultimate destruction', and it is that game reskinned. I played part 2 and got bored really quickly but beat the first one and enjoyed it.

All that said, I think the game style didn't age well. A benefit of the first game is it embraced the beat-em-up mindset a lot more, and didn't tey to be dark and edgy which may have hurt the sequel a lot.

This. Anyone?

Guessing u got it for $5 at Best Buy a year or two ago too because I'm in the same boat.

Might be interested in Resonance of Fate. I always wanted to play that one.

After sleeping on it, I decided to pass on purchases this week. The Call of Duty games are probably cheaper at Gamestop, LocoCycle isn't on sale for Xbox 360, and Dance Central Spotlight is only on Xbox One.

I would get Transformers except a) it's over $10 aka my spending limit b) knowing my luck it will be a future GwG, and c) I only have $8 in my account.

So just Monaco for me this week. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a DLC sale next week.

I liked Prototype 1 a lot but after playing it I couldn't get into the second one. I think they're both a LOT alike so if you enjoyed playing the second one the first one will be fun, but I got burnt out at that point.

Sounds like the reality of licensing is the opposite of what you want: whatever console you tell MS to transfer your license to is the one that doesn't need to be online to access the content, and any other console would need your profile downloaded and signed on to the internet at all times to use your content.

If I'm reading what you want to do correctly, it could work... but it's obnoxious. (wWe are talking 360s, right?) You would need to transfer your license on the MS site over to your "family"/kids' console and then always be online with your own console that you play on. I do something similar at my house with a living room console I normally game with--which is the same one my gf games on--but then I have a "spare room" unit I use too.
Rats. I wouldn't have bought Banjo last night had I known this. I've already got enough digital content to fill over 2 xbox 250gig HDs. I had planned on splitting the best games up and had been keeping track of how much content I could fit still. Oh well...hopefully in 5 years when things shut down the kids and I will have played through and gotten sick of most of these games....

As posted in the other forum. Need for Speed Rivals is going to EA access in the coming weeks.

Hope no one that has EA access actually bought the game on sale...

I'm trying to promise myself to buy no more ea games as an access member. Of course, unless i just can't wait. Damn twitch game feeds always tempt me to buy games before i want to.

Glad I held off buying NFSR when it was on sale now. Although that being said EA Access kind of seems like a bad deal for EA if people decide not to buy their games figuring they'll come to EA Access. I mean a $30 subscription isn't much especially when NFSR was $25 for the Xbox One recently.

So I haven't turned on my Xbox One since Thursday last week and when I turned it on today Tuesday, it updated and after updating I noticed when I check Games with Gold games Super Time Force, it was installing at 12% already.  I didn't purchase it yet or anything so I'm not sure since I'm Gold, these GwG installs automatically now?

The vault is too small for me justify purchasing EA Access yet.  It's worth it alone for the 1 year BF4 rental, but I just prefer physical games.

If you buy something for XBO on the website or smartglass it now auto installs.

*purchases game on Xbox.com at ludicrous speed*
I think is statement is being a little generous. I bought Prototype day 1 because I looooved that Hulk game, but I was super disappointed. The graphics were terrible, the story was non-existent/lame, and the gameplay was just nowhere near as fun. They had a habit of throwing way too many enemies at you and it just got annoying. It was bad enough that I never bothered playing the 2nd one despite getting it for $5 (resold for a profit right away). Though I hear the 2nd one is greatly improved.

Dumb question, but this applies to all Xbox owners right?

Just want to watch it to see what all the hype is about. The games are great though.
It should be, I saw it on the XB1 dashboard and also the 360 dashboard.

Also signed it into a silver on 360 and its free. Should be good for everybody

It's going to depend a lot on the release time. With NFS: Rivals, they probably figured that the sales numbers slowed enough to warrant an addition to the Vault. For example, I was completely uninterested in paying $20-25 for NFS Rivals, and the offerings on Access aren't that compelling right now. However, adding Rivals to the Vault means that I am likely to get Access soon. So, while some might skip a game that launched a while ago to wait for the Vault, there will likely be plenty who were skipping the game AND the Vault, but will now put forth that $30 to get it.

I thought Prototype was fun. Open world and you get to run up buildings. Read that again: You can run UP buildings as if you're The Flash to the point where glass shatters. Don't see that in Grand Theft Auto.

Transformers just makes me smile. Solid voice acting, combat levels mixed with some driving levels, and a sense of urgency to complete a level.  I got this from Fall of Cybertron's demo and I assume War on Cybertron is similar.

The controls for Resident Evil and Silent Hill don't bother me at all. If you really want tank controls, try playing Armored Core and Ace Combat.

So it seems like the physical copies of the Transformers games are never gonna go down for whatever reason, so I'm really interested in this sale.

Here's my question: I don't do online gaming, so is the single player campaign in each worth the money? Also, does the sequel surpass the original so that there's no point in buying the original if you buy the sequel, or are both worthwhile?

Please tell me they don't rely on the Bay movies much, because I'm a G1 fan who doesn't like the Bay movies.

The Bay movies have no presence in the games at all. Nothing to fear there.

And I would encourage you to play online. Escalation is a ton of fun and the MP is very good for FoC. Haven't played WfC yet.

**This post is not including the movie games and focusing on the good ones**

I could be wrong (might have them reversed or thinking of the newest game), but I think the first one had co-op and the sequel does not. The latest one is complete trash though compared to the previous ones. The movie games are better than the newest one.

I remember being bored by the end of the first one and still happily playing the 2nd one to completion (much better story). Both are great games though. If possible I would recommend renting the one that is $11.99 and buying the one that is $4.99 (about the price of a rental anyways) if you plan on only playing campaign once.

Well, for future purchases the "initial download gets the license" rule still applies, as in if you're about to buy something specifically for the kids'/family do it directly from that console and it will "belong" to that console--online and off.

Where you were inadvertently botching things up was from that license transfer step--which still applies: if you initiate a license transfer, it does it carte blanche; it moves the licenses for all of your offline content to your new console of choice.

I paid 60 dollars for fall of cybertron and never touched the mulitplayer, and I have no regrets about it. game is amazing

Thoughts/opinions on Prototype and the Transformer games?
I can tell they blew their load with Prototype - after Incredible Hulk: UD, they came up with all of their ideas for making their own character and went for it....all of it. It shows because this game is a jumble of ideas that doesn't execute all that well. It can be long if you are going for side missions to gain points. The final 2 bosses are difficult but not break your controller difficult. I would say Prototype is worth $4.99 or less.

I played Transformers War for Cybertron a few years ago and even though I said then that it was average and I would never play it again, I have an urge to purchase it now for this price. For a Transformer's game it's good, good enough for me to purchase Fall of Cybertron for $12.

Prototype- fun open world action game. I think Prototype 2 is much better and less buggy than the first.

Transformers game- fun third person shooter games. The first has online co-op, which is pretty fun. The sequel has a bigger difference between the playable characters. If you are a fan of the older Transformers, I highly recommend both of them. The multiplayer is ok, I liked it better in the first one. The escalation modes are pretty good, but are not as good as Rise of the Dark Spark (the only thing that game did right).

So in my second online game of Madden I'm playing against the Pats.  I killed Tom Brady on the 2nd or 3rd play from scrimmage that this guy ran against me. (serious upper body injury)
