So, i read up on the PoE reveal details from today and watched some snippets of video and I think it looks fun. It brings back a lot of good time memories from the months I spent playing ME3.
Hah, yeah, it does kind of remind me of that too now that you mention it. That was pretty much the only other coop shooter game I played before Destiny.
I've watched about half of the original reveal now. Surprisingly I was not as annoyed by the guy as I expected to be. I thought his Cabal impression was pretty funny. And in general I hate loud annoying people and in particular those who are web celebs/gaming types.
Anyway, my impressions:
1) I'll need to learn to use shotguns in PvE a lot more than I have in the past. It seems like sniper rifles will be relatively useless here. I suppose I could also start to use fusion rifles. Besides Vex, I've never really used any - so I'm not at all proficient with ones you have to charge. (One caveat: near the end when two of them are dead and a Wizard is pelting their bodies with arc during an arc burn, it would probably have been useful to have a sniper rifle there to take it out from far away).
2) Fatebringer will continue to kick ass like usual. It looks like that will be the first legendary weapon I ascend.
3) Guns that regen health might be useful. Also perhaps Bad Juju with the auto reload might be pretty awesome here. You'd pretty much be able to keep killing stuff without a reload.
4) BUBBLE TITANS with Saint-14 are going to be huge. Pop those on the ogres, on the defuse points, etc... So I'm torn between starting off in this mode with my Titan for the bubble or my Warlock for the self-res.
5) Maybe there will finally be a use for the helms with fast revive capabilities. I've never seen much use for those in the past but when things get crazy being able to revive fast will be a plus.
6) While Gjallarhorn can still be useful here, it might make more sense to rock heavy machine guns in this mode since there's a good chance of things jumping in front of you. Plus you can keep the defuse zone clear with a machine gun/bubble and not as easily with a rocket launcher.
7) Because of the burn modifiers being present we'll have to have a good weapon of each type in each slot.
I'm also gathering that upgrading legendaries will be a slow. multi-week process so we'll have to choose carefully which to upgrade. I'm guessing we won't get more than 1 or 2 ethereal light per week at the beginning. It probably makes sense to go for armor first. But which ones? I'll have to think pretty hard on which legendary gear is going to get the first upgrades. Is the Crota stuff that regens health with orbs good? Or do we concentrate on the ammo perks?
