Just saw this on the Aksys twitter feed:

http://www.aksysgames.com/2011/03/16/japan-benefit-sale/

As most of you, I’m sure, already know, the country of Japan was recently hit by a serious earthquake, followed by an even more devastating tsunami. We decided we wanted to do something to help. Our CEO, Akibo Shieh, had this to say:

The thoughts and prayers of our staff are with the people of Japan. We have many friends, relatives, and business partners who have found themselves suddenly faced with a level of tragedy that most of us can scarcely imagine. The scale of destruction is immense, but we have no doubt that with a combined effort it can be reversed, and every contribution—no matter the size—will play an important part in doing so. We can all play a part in helping Japan overcome this crisis.
With that in mind, we at Aksys Games would like to announce the following sale. It will run from today until March 24th, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to charity efforts in Japan. If you can’t afford to buy anything, spread the word. Together, we can help.

Head to our store to check out the items on sale, or hit the jump for a list.
I notice that 9 Doors, 9 Persons, 9 Hours isn't on there.
Not all games are discounted.

I just picked up four games I didn't have from AKSYS. And if you haven't read their forums, all proceeds of anything sold off their website is going to support Japan, not just the games on sale.

I've been meaning to pick up 999, so this was more than a good enough excuse. Would have bought Theresia as well, but it's sold out now.

Picked up BB:CS. I've been meaning to pick it up since it dropped to $30 at GS, but with the two soundtracks, I bit.
I just wish Agarest War was the Naughty Edition. I can't bring myself to buy it without the box and soundtrack. Maybe one of these days if the naughty edition gets super rare and expensive, but until then, I'll keep waiting 'till I can find one.

BlazBlue and Deathsmiles for me. i'm very happy to support this fantastic charity and i look forward to supporting Aksys in the future!

I had been slightly interested in Blazblue for a while- this was just the impetus I needed to buy it. Big props to Aksys, you guys are great.

Picked up:

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger + Vol. 1 & 2 of the CD Soundtrack
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift + Vol. 1 & 2 of the CD Soundtrack
Deathsmiles Limited Edition
BlazBlue Folder

Checkout only took 1 minute. One of the quickest i've ever used.
Still no word on what the situation with CS II is?
http://30ninjas.com/blog/mori-confirms-blazblue-continuum-shift-2-dlcnew-console-release

Recently, Blazblue producer Toshimichi Mori and Guilty Gear producer Daisuke Ishiwatari went to the World Game Cup in France. There, they finally answered some questions that fans have had for a while. We BlazBlue fans just kind of assumed that we would be getting all the new balance updates in BlazBlue Continuum Shift 2 as some sort of DLC patch, but this was never actually confirmed by the people over at Arc Systems Works. However, at the World Game Cup, Mori said, “It’s definitely coming, but I don’t want to say when. It will either be really cheap or free.” So, in short, Mori confirmed what we had all previously assumed.

I assume the DLC characters will gain Story and Arcade modes for free, but you will still need to pay to use them at all.

Count me in as another Blazblue CS + soundtrack and Deathsmiles LE. Been wanting to donate and pick up these games at decent prices; so two birds, one Paypal transaction.
Yeah, I read that while searching, but they go on to say how they still don't completely rule out another disc version.
I hope they do make a disc version of BB:CS2 i want a story mode for all the characters plus my xbox harddrive is runing out of memory(and i have 250gb hdd)
Maybe "proceeds" isn't the right word. What we intend to do is send 100% of every dollar you spend in our store for the next week to Japan to help with earthquake/tsunami relief. In other words, it works like this:

 1. You buy, say, 999, for $35.
 2. We send that $35 to Japan.

OH! Well then, I'm just going to go ahead and buy EVERYTHING I DON'T HAVE. As far as I'm concerned, you're making it essentially free.

Good on you, Aksys!

Also, this means that those of you who don't get Deathsmiles are heartless bastards. It's a great game, you've been THINKING about getting it, and it's free if you donate $20 - $20! - to help the victims of an enormous tragedy. Come ON!

I for one hate DLC. I Never, ever buy it. Main reason being terrible DRM issues. Im a classic camer and have consoles dating back to the NES. I really fear what will happen 5 or 10 years down the line with this era of DLC laden games when peoples consoles die and they have to get a replacment and are just SOL with all their DLC stuff which wont work because of DRM issues. These servers wont be around for 'authenticating' the crap you bought then

I mention that, because i really do hope the new blazblue is an actual disk. Since i'll never see the extra characters that are DLC. I also notice in that post that Arcania heart 3 is ONLy DLC in the US??? WTF is that true? That pisses me off! so i have to import a UK version of the game?!

the only DLC ive ever bought is suikoden so i can play it on my psp heh

By the way, does anyone know what charity the proceeds are going to anyway? Red cross?
So far as the size of the pillowcase... I have no idea. I didn't realize pillows really varied in size that much.
Pillowcases is 26" x 20". :D

This is sooo true. I did just that and bought everything I didn't have and even thought I might like. I would love to see other companies do this, NIS? ATLUS? CAGers need to keep their eyes open for these promotions. So far I only know of some ipone/ipod games from Capcom (SFIV) and Sega (Sonics) where 100% of procedes are going to the relief effort.

Picked up BB: CS with the sale, since it's not dropped below $30 many places, and with free shipping plus the soundtrack volumes, that's worth it right there.

I had wanted the Deathsmiles LE since I saw photos of it with all the little goodies on Amazon before its release. At $30 I can't argue with the price and is going to a great cause. I hope Aksys reveals what kind of $$ this brought in at the end of the day. Very generous gift. WTG all who participated.

Aksys, I don't know if this was discussed yet, but where will the money actually be going to? Which charity?

Close to biting on this (I want to donate some money to Japan anyway) but just to reassure:

1) Through which charity/etc. will this money be distributed? How will the money be spent and what organization will it be sent to?

2) Is there a way I can get confirmation that the money I spent in the store has in fact been donated?

Not that I don't trust Aksys, I'm just permanently paranoid and I want to make sure that my money is really going to support a worthy cause.

I've already made several donations to the Red Cross Tsunami Fund, but what's another $35? So many people's lives were just washed away. In for 9 Hours, least I could do and I hear good things about the game.
C'mon you guys, buy some fightsticks! I own two of 'em. They are very high-quality.
If I hadn't dropped $200 on a Deathsmiles IIX fightstick last year, I'd be down for one. lol

Also, I got my shipping notification for the BlazBlue comic. :)

Was actually late in finding this sale, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift is sold out, but I also purchased Mimana...have it...but not with the soundtrack.

Crazy...got home and had a box waiting for me with my order of BlazBlue:CS and Blazing Souls (ordered Wed night). While being in CA and getting my order in early helps, that's still pretty darn quick. Good work Aksys team!

I do like Aksys and this may sound cruel but this sounds like nothing but "trying to get rid of old stock" to me...I mean I understand business can't donate for free for most part for obvious reasons but this one sounds like an excuse to me for some reason =/

Or... they could just donate actual money (tax write-off), sell the inventory, and pocket the profits from the inventory. As opposed, to, you know, keeping NONE of the profit and eating the manufacturing cost.

Bottom line, they could donate either way. This "sale" is costing them more than the other way, so I'd say they're doing a pretty soild thing.
of note - http://ca.gizmodo.com/5781182/did-your-donation-really-reach-japan-probably-not - but I trust that their intentions are in the right place and picked up a copy of 9 9 9
Irrelevant, in my mind. If Japan doesn't ask the Red Cross for help (and I'll bet they will), and Aksys gives their money to the American Red Cross instead of the Japanese Red Cross (and they won't), the money will still go to saving humans. Still a win-win for everyone.

Embassy of Japan has links to both Japanese and American Red Cross. And yes, win-win for everyone.

Belisarius, I was wondering if there will be replenishments for games like BlazBlue Continuum or what you have for this sale, this is all that was allocated?

I think it is actually a win-win scenario where Aksys can clear out some inventory that may (or may not) need to be cleared out, but regardless....that inventory has some value an since all the money is going to charity so I think it's actually a very generous way for them to reward people for donating money to a good cause. While I have donated some money to helping Japan outside of this Aksys sale, I also spent over $100 on this Aksys sale. Knowing that over all $100 is going to a good cause is great and getting some great games in the process is even better.

Of course you are completely free to donate money to Japan outside of this sale if getting some games in exchange for your donation gives you some sort of negative feelings, but if Aksys is willing to give me some games in the process I figure why the heck not get some games. Even if I don't even want the games I can donate them to Goodwill or some poor kid so I don't see how everyone doesn't come out a winner in this situation.
