F.A.Q.S.:

1. Does the game I'm buying from Amazon Activate on Steam/Origin/Uplay? What DRM does the game use?

There are two places to identify DRM on a digital video game detail page:

At the top of the page, below the title:

16hm7a8.png

In the "Product Description" section:

r06ykl.jpg

2. Note on Electronic Arts Games - For the most part, EA games sold on Amazon do not activate on Steam. Most activate on Origin.

3. Note on DRM with limited activations:

Our Policy

4. Sometimes I'll do giveaways.

5. I work with developers and publishers to get fun (or at least what I think is fun) content to share with you all. Here are some examples:

a. Check out the Pax Gameplay videos here: Xcom: Enemy Unknown I played Xcom with Jake, the Creative Director for the game, a few months before the game came out Also, on this page, check out the Q&A, also a community driven event.

b. Check out the interview on this page: Borderlands 2 we did this interview at E3 with Randy Pitchford this year.

c. We've partnered with the ++GoodGames Podcast to feature many of the games we carry. They talk to the developers about the game development process, how the games are conceptualized and managed, all kinds of fun stuff. I'm working on putting together full link list and will update when I have it.

What else do we sell?

Xbox Live Points and Subscriptions:

1600 Microsoft Live Points
4000 Microsoft Live Points
12 Month XBOX Live Subscription
3 Month XBOX Live Subscription]
12 Month + 1 XBOX Live Subscription

PSN+ Subscriptions and PSN Points:

$20 PSN Points
$50 PSN Points
12 Month PSN+ Subscription
3 Month PSN+ Subscription

We also have a Free-2-Play store supported by our GameConnect technology. Gameconnect allows you to link your Amazon.com account with free-2-play and MMO accounts so that you can buy things like in game currency, premium game time/subscriptions, in game items, etc. on Amazon.com using your Amazon.com payment options and have this content delivered directly into your game.
Sorry. Strange, never had that happened to me before. So yeah, I guess Amazon CS at this point.
It happens to me all the time but just with digital purchases. With physical purchases you can actually change the payment method and not use your balance.
Um, can I get some help with something?

I want to buy the Darksiders pack, but Amazon wants me to pay with my gift card balance. I don't -want- them to use that, I want to pay with my bank card instead. What can I do to make them charge me the way I want them to?
This happens to me too...I don't think you can change it without calling and even they might not know how. One of the downsides of having a balance...(like if you wanted to use your AMEX, etc...for the extended warrantee).
I just wanted to thank Steam for at least letting us know up front that they won't be able to match Amazon's price on Hitman.
Yeah, Amazon's making that Hitman: Absolution $20 deal even more appealing now... ;)
I click on that, I select my debit card. I go back to the confirmation page and this is what it says:

Edit: Screw it, I'll just buy a gift card for myself. Bloody annoying...
Think I might have found the issue -- Amazon doesn't take foreign (non-US) billing addresses for digital game downloads.

Probably a dumb question, but I bought the Darksiders Franchise pack. I already have the first game on Steam from the THQ bundle. Can I give away my Darksiders 1 key from this?

You have to go through your account options and it's buried under 1-Click options. A supreme convoluted pain in the ass. I use a personal credit card and business credit card with Amazon and constantly having to switch back and forth as I buy software for us.

Unless you have a ton of Amazon credit on your account, you could always place a preorder or two using the gift balance, then buy the game you want, and then cancel the preorders afterwards.

Thanks for the awesome deal on Darksiders II and DLC, just got done redeeming all of those keys and I'm looking forward to playing it!

Might still pick up some Sims stuff and Dead Island or some other secret awesomeness you are cooking up...

I know I've had trouble with the UK Amazon not letting me buy from their digital store so it must be the same situation here.

Well it explicitly states that on the US Store:

 • Downloading: Currently, this item is available only to customers located in the United States and who have a U.S. billing address.

So if someone tries to use a non US bank card with a foreign address... I could see why it would default to Amazon credit.
omg omg omg omg omg
Scribblenauts at 75% off? Thanks for that christmas present Tony, really amazing! :D
I am greatly offended that it was posted on Reddit without letting us know!

Yeah, I saw this when someone posted it on steamgifts, and thought that Tony would have also said here some pages ago. Figure it out that it didnt.

BETRAYAL.

But seriously speaking, that is a super mega amazing deal.

Excuse me for learning English by using a British learning course, sheesh. :p

Edit: Mother of mercy, 75% off Scribblenauts?!
Thats pretty cool, how much did that set up cost?
Only costs 2 more monitors than a normal gaming pc setup :) many video cards already support 3 monitor outputs

The whole thing is a joke. They basically operate on the honor system and do absolutely no checks whatsoever to verify IPs or otherwise that in any way shape or form the information they are given is correct and they know it's going on too. Not like people in this thread in the past have been subtle about it. One person even claimed someone from Amazon told them it was okay.

At this point I think Amazon is pretty much saying:

'We can't sell to you if you aren't in the US. GEE IF ONLY YOU HAD A US ADDRESS *wink wink* *nudge nudge*'

They're okay with it and will keep letting it go on until and unless some publisher figures out what is going on and raises a stink.

Plenty of sites around the web are extremely brazen about telling people to give false info to get around the requirement including some high profile sites like Rock, Paper Shotgun.

Yeah, I know there are ways around it but... didn't know if I should wink wink nudge nudge kiss kiss boom boom. But the problem is if you're actually using a bank card you might actually have to have the proper corresponding address.

That said I don't understand why it's important to use a card versus stored up credit but I'm sure there's a reason for that, too.

I... but I...
what in the hell how.

75% off, $7.50.
while Steam is looking pretty there happily going with 33% off, $20.

what. whose first born was sacrificed for this.
Can't see what's so good about scribble naughts tbh
The game is the definition of awesome. I bought the first games at full price and they were worth every single cent!
Can't see what's so good about scribble naughts tbh
I'm wondering the same thing.. I think I'll pass, doesn't seem like the type of game I'd play.

You guys are missing on one of the best games ever made :c

I mean, what other game lets you do a fight between a giant chtulu and a flying t-rex, and also allows you to ride that same t-rex?

Apparently I have a very different definition of awesome. Play'd me some Scribblenauts a while ago and while it did seem innovative at the time, I just couldn't get myself to keep playing. But, to each their own.
How long will the Darksiders 2 deal be up?
First page says 12/20-12/21, so I'd guess until roughly 12:00-1:00AM PST 12/21.

Scribblenauts for $7,50 and the $5 credit sounds like a great deal to me. Definitely gonna get it. Thanks for the awesome price Tony.

Isn't it a 48h deal?

That's what I understand when I read "12/20-12/21":

Valid through 12/20 and 12/21, expiring at 12/22 12:00AM? No?

Amazon should really put a countdown timer on their special deals.

Could be I guess. You have me scratching my head now. I just assumed (there's that word again) since Amazon starts it's sales as 12-1AM PST it would be a 24hr sale. I already bought it, so I'm good to go, but some clarification would be helpful.

Well, damn straight!!!

The only way Tony can make things up to us is doing a 75% BL2 deal

Now I'm scratching my head as well

A clarification would be helpfull, indeed.
12/20 - 12/21 means the sale runs both days.
If it were only 1 day then it would say 12/20 only.
There may be time to get another copy then :)

Makes sense. That's what I get for thinking and assuming at the same time.
