I didnt do too bad at my Best Buy, anyhow, HOW DO YOU GET THE EXTRA 5 BUCKS PER GAME, MY BEST BUY GUY HAD NO IDEA ABOUT THE WHOLE XBOX 360 GAME/ACCESSORY TRADE FOR DEAL? WHAT BEST BUY ARE YOU GUYS GOING TO, THAT ARE HOOKING YOU UP WITH THAT BONUS. THANKS.

I dont know if the promo is a YMMV, but I've seen it at 2 BBs.

It worked like this for me, you have to buy something X360 related, then bring your receipt to the trade in counter and they will add on 5 bucks for every X360 item you bought.

You can double dip here, as I used the 10 dollar off any game/assc. 29.99 or higher coupon in the video game deal forum, and then got the 5 dollar tacked on to my trade in.

So essentially I got my X360 games/controllers for 15 off.

***I also got my D2R2/Bloodrayne's turned away once, but I think that was due to a overzealous employee who caught on to the price differences.

***Breakdown is at 7.50

I think this trade in deal is dead now, since the guy turned me away for D2R2. Does anyone else know any other titles that can get a decent return? Thanks.

Couple of not-so-hot prices:
Echo Night Beyond: $16.50
Front Mission 4: $7.50
Timesplitters (1): $4.00
Pariah: $4.00
So I'm presuming Best Buy only offers credit?

And has anybody tried Powerdrome yet?
PS2 gets like 6-8

Billy is Breakdown for xbox really only getting 7.50? I just picked up 2 in the hopes of getting 30 each for them. which store turned you away anyway?

Hmmm... when I get back to LA, I gotta check them out. Since I got X360 now I may unload some of my PS2 games that I no longer play.

Off the top of my head (I've been going almost every weekend for months, but some of these I refused for obvious reasons):

Metroid Prime 2 $31.50
Radiata Stories $31.50
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 XBX ~$22
Paper Mario 2 ~$22
Ikaruga GC $7.50
Viewpoint PS1 $7.50
Fantavision $4.00
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance (PS2) $4.00

It's a universal price drop, I get quoted that at 3 BBs and theres only 1 UPC for breakdown. If you got it at GS, you can still return it! That's what I did ;)

After looking at the website, it seems like they also take in a lot of electronics as well. Do they put these old electronics back out to the 'used section' on the sales floor or something?

billy, when you say you had the D2R2's turned away, do you mean they wouldn't take them at all? or they just wouldn't let you use them for the promotion? I've got a small stack of them I'm looking to take in today...new ipod time =)

I got turned away, meaning that they would not take them. They give you a dirty look too. The BestBuy guy knows whats going on, and they will tell you that they can't take that game in right now. Some BS about it not being in their systems. It's BS because it is in their system. If you really want to get lucky, try to have a person in the blue shirts help you out, the regular employees have no clue. I saw someone unload about 3 copies of D2R2, which equals about 90 bucks, before I had a chance to trade in mine later in the day. If you get the bestbuy trade in specialists, you're screwed.

What is D2R2? Dead to Rights II? I wouldn't foist a copy of that game on my worst enemy, let alone a chain that's doing me a service by offering generous trade-in values...

I have some games I've never opened, so I'm going to try them out. If I don't like them, I'll take them to Best Buy and report back.

Asterix & Obelix PS2
King's Field PS2
Guilty Gear Isuka PS2
Whiplash PS2

Quite a good haul! I picked up Dragon Quest VIII and a black-label Hot Shots Golf: Fore from...

Asterix & Obelix $7.50
Burnout Revenge $31.50
Frequency $4.00
Guilty Gear Isuka $30.00 (!)
King's Field: The Ancient City $7.50
Ridge Racer V $4.00

Try to go to ToysRus for D2R2 for 10 bucks. There is no point to it, since you won't get any trade credit for it. I was thinking about Guilty Gear Isaku, but isnt that difficult to find in stores. Anyone have any ideas?

Actually, I was at the Best Buy in Countryside, IL today and I traded in 8 copies of D2R2, along with a whole crapload of other games, and they took every single one of them. So I think it just depends on who you get, or what store you go to. Just to help some people out, here are some trade-in values for you guys (all PS2 by the way)...

$7.50
Hitman: Contracts
Kingdom Hearts
MLB 2k5: World Series Edition
Smackdown vs. Raw
Katamari Damacy
Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain
Ratchet and Clank: UYA
Prince of Persia

I also got $31.50 each on Hulk: UD and SOCOM 3, and $30 for The Warriors, and a few others. I can't find the receipt page for the others. They didn't take Jak X or Shadow of the Colossus though, which seemed a bit weird. I think the girl was just not really familiar with the system. But when I took in all the games, over the course of the trade-in 3 other workers came over and were pretty happy that I was trading in so much stuff, because they really want the used merchandise. All in all, I walked out with $483 in credit, and they told me at the end that if I had any more games to trade-in, just bring them in. So yeah, it all comes down to what store you go to.

8 copies of one game?!? They stopped me at 3 with Killer7.

By the way, they're giving $31.50 for FF:CC for some reason. I saw two of them in their rack priced at $41.99.

Final Fantasy: Crystal Chron.

Did you trade it in at this price or just saw it at tagged as this?

Sometimes the price tags are old, like I've seen burnout 3 with a 39.99 price tag, the same thing with all those NAM war games (Shellshock, Men of Valor, and Conflict:Vietnam) are all priced at 39.99, but I highly doubt they trade in that high at this point, but who knows?

I just saw it tagged at $42, and every game that sells at that price is $31.50 for trade-ins. It may be just an old price, but then again, they took the copies of K7 I traded in and re-stickered them at $22.99, so maybe not.

Dude, is FC:CC going for 31.50 or what? I'm about to make a few pit stops if this is true. Someone find out!

I remember someone saying they didnt take their JakX and SotC, that seems to happen some time as the newer games didnt make it into the system yet. I have a copy of guitar hero that's not in the system, and I remember that I tried trading in the new Castlevania for PS2 the same week it came out and it wasn't in the system either.

The worker told me the same thing happens with Battlefront 2.

Yeah, I tried trading in Romancing SaGa the week of release and it didn't take either. It takes some time for them to add in new SKUs.

yup, like i said they were actually pretty excited to be getting in so many games. now if only we could verify the ff:cc value...i'd be set! =)

I had no problem trading in D2R2 today. Got $30 for it. Also, I traded in Breakdown for xbox and like Billyknoxville said, got $7.50 for that. For PSP I had two more World Tour Soccer's to trade and another Gretzky NHL and got $21 each for them. Good to see you in person again Billy!

So can anyone confirm that FF:CC gets 31 bucks in trade credit? Somebody, anybody, go to bestbuy now and find out.

I'll give them a call tomorrow. Man Best Buy really needs to look at the credit they are giving out to people on some of these games...

No they don't.

Well I can confirm that FF:CC does indeed get $31.50. So does Metroid Prime 2. I traded 2 each of them today and left quite happy. Also Xbox Constantine gets $7. I was hoping for a little magic there like when it was trading for a lot at GR, but no dice.

I hit up my BB today. I called in advance and was told FF:CC fetched 31.50, Metroid Prime 2 also 31.50, and Resident Evil 3 GC got 30. D2R2 was 7.50 for the xbox and 4 for the PS2.

I snagged two copies of MP2 at EB with some old credit (too bad I didn't do it this past weekend, otherwise I would have had a free game coming to me) and headed to BB. I started chatting with the guy at the counter and he started saying "Have your heard of that website..." and as he was thinking I said, "Cheapassgamer?"

So after we were done, he says, "I'm going to have to tell corporate that Cheapassgamer is monitoring our trade in values" and he went and told a couple employees that were standing right there but then admitted that he didn't know if corporate would do anything at all.

So if the prices start dropping, I apologize. Lesson learned - The first rule of CAG is YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT CAG.
I started chatting with the guy at the counter and he started saying "Have your heard of that website..." and as he was thinking I said, "Cheapassgamer?"
Ballgame.

oh noes! we are discovered, but I doubt they will do anything. Heck one of the blockbuster district managers has an account here on cag(i think it was called "the watcher" bc he was monitoring the deal discussion. tho i dont think he has posted anything in at least 6 months, and there are still plenty of lag on the trade prices at gamerush.

If it turns out that they are no longer going to give $31 for metroid prime 2 or bloodrayne 2, well how long could those prices possibly have lasted anyways?

He started saying the website name, I just finished for him. He seemed like a guy just doing his job, not some stoolie who'd report to BB corporate. When he started talking about contacting corporate, I was completely shocked.

Lesson learned.

The second rule of CAG is that you do not talk about CAG.

Any way to find out if any BestBuy does trade ins without calling each one? I wanna know if there are any in Connecticut.

So some old games have realy high trade in values is what you are saying... Hmmm this sounds like good stuff but is there some catch to it?
So some old games have realy high trade in values is what you are saying... Hmmm this sounds like good stuff but is there some catch to it?
They stick your balls in a fryer if you trade in multiple copies of the same title.

You have to be a reward zone member and you have to have the gamer expansion pack. If you are already a RZ member, the expansion pack is free but takes a day before it's activated.

If it makes you guys feel any better, Most of the workers I meet say when trade in prices are off, they should report them to corp. Most of the time when they do report them, it takes forever for anything to happen, so most of the time the workers care less about the system, due to the time it takes for change to happen.
Which BB did you trade into yeah-yeah?
Sterling, VA. I see you edited your post. You don't want to know the guy's name, or might you be him? Hmmmm?!

I just know the guy is checking out the site tonight.

dude, what do we have to be worried about? do you think BB Corp is going to give a rats butt what a low paid cashier tells them? However if BB does this trade in thing right and does a really good job..it could put EB/GS Out of Business. yay :)

Here is my story, I went to the Burbank BestBuy with Metroid 2 and Bloodrayne 2. The dude is like, 31.50 and 30.00. I thought to myself, okay, it's about time these $$$$$$s don't turn me away. Anyhow, he goes to another computer and scans the games, and comes back and says, sorry, we can't take these. I'm like WTF, why not? He replies, oh these games are cheaper in the store. What a butt munch, @#$@# low paid minimum wage earning BestBuy employee. Straight up Punk!
