Best Buy Trade-In Values for Used Games "DEVIL CUSTOMERS UNITE"

I think the first post in this thread mentions that they supposedly limit you to three copies of any given game in a 12 month period, but that they also don't enforce it.
 
The first rule of trading in games at Best Buy is that there are no consistent rules for trading in games at Best Buy.

The second rule of trading in games at Best Buy is that there are no consistent rules for trading in games at Best Buy.

I think everyone who has been trading in games at Best Buy will attest to these two rules. The only thing that seems to be consistent are the prices across the stores. If one store gives 30 bucks for a game, all stores give the same amount. The program is a bit of a mess, so take advantage of it while you can.
 
No kidding. I'm only using it so that I can get an Xbox 360 by spending the least amount of my own cash possible. Like I said I'm up to $130 and I never purchased a single one of those games. Another $300 worth of games and I'm in.

shit im waiting for the day they send me a letter saying i've been abusing the coupon system (the 360 coupons) and not only are they cancelling my Reward Zone stuff, but banning me from there stores :O

50 dollar BB gift card i got from a co worker teacher of mine (probibly the best present i've gotten in the last 3 years of working in the school system :O)

30 GC from buying a printer from them

10 gc from buying 75 dollars of worth of video games/movies/cds

and finally 77.50 worth of gift cards from trading in 4 games. Robocop (XB) and DBD (PS2) racked up 30 a pop , while SH3 got me 7.50 from my 3.95 from CC.

total=50+30+10+77.50=167.50...not to mention about another 25 dollars worth of Reward zone GCs.


you know given the way they redesigned the PS2 to make it the size of a elementary school book, you would have thought MS would at least resign there xbox 1 as that XBOX is HUGE!!
 
I wasn't sure what system NBA Street Vol3 was for, so it was not added to the list.

As far as trade-in rules - it varies per employee per store per day. I've been told:
Limit one of each title per system.
Limit five of each title per system per year.
Limit five trade-ins at one time.
We'll take whatever you want.

We take shrink-wrapped games.
We don't take shrink-wrapped games.

I've had people tell me they track what I trade in and all stores will know.
I've visted multiple stores and sometimes not been found in other systems.

I've been told that they take systems and they don't take systems (before they stopped taking non-game trade-ins.)
I've been told that they take accessories and that they don't (also before they stopped taking non-game trade-ins.)

Sometimes the same employee will tell me something different a few days later.

All I know for sure is that I ended up with a new washer and dryer for free after AmEx wish certificate, trade-ins, and Christmas returns. And that makes me a happy camper.

Wampa8jedi, That's exactly what I was thinking and I am quite surprised they still gave me 14 for DMC 3 even though the SE just came out. If I had traded it in earlier, maybe I could have gotten a bit more. Oh well, can't complain much since 14 is still a pretty good trade in value.
 
Do any of you guys know what Far Cry Instinst is worth at Best Buy? Hopefully my local Circuit City will have a couple of copies today. I'll post values later today after my trip to the stores.
 
Sorry if this is a n00b style question but I swear I searched the first couple of posts - How do you tell if your Best Buy has a trade in program? The website didn't seem to have a store search last time I checked. Do you just have to go instore and look?

I frequent the Yorba Linda and Tustin BB locations, doesn't seem like they have the used game sections people are talking about.

Just call and ask, or stop by--very, very stores are doing this (probably less than 1% of all BB stores), and the ones that are should be well aware of it...
 
I think there are only 18 stores in the nation doing the trade in program. At least that's what a BB employee told me. In So.Cal (inland empire) the stores are Riverside, Moreno Valley and San Bernardino.
Well I got a couple of Xbox Far Cry Instinct's from Circuit City but haven't had a chance to hit BB yet to get the values. Later tonight I will post with the info.
 
Any way that along with the update you can include the link for the store locator, so that the same question doesn't keep coming up over and over again?

I've got a couple of DS games I'm going to trade in, I guess we'll find out if there's a nice premium on them.

Anyone had any success calling stores for trade-in values? I don't want to hang out on the phone for ten minutes while they find someone that knows what I'm talking about.

The Sterling store (703-430-2150) has always given me accurate quotes over the phone. Just get customer service on the phone (I don't remember the extension) and ask for trade-in values on video games.

The nearest store to me was Countryside, who told me they don't do quotes over the phone any more. So, I called the Sterling store. It took them...almost seven minutes to find me someone who knew what I was talking about. :cold:

Quake 4 = ? (He couldn't find it in the computer, even with the UPC code. He said it would probably be $41.50)

I think I'm going to make the trek to Countryside later on today. I'll let you know how it goes.

I think Best Buy updates their pricing on Fri./Sat. since I traded in Robocop awhile ago for $30 on Thursday and tried again on Sat. to only get $7.50.
 
I traded a few games in on Wednesday and for the fun of it I checked the price for Robotech Battlecry for the XBox.......

$3.50 :whistle2:s

SW Episode 3:ROTS for PS2 has gone to a sale price of 19.99 (less if you have a coupon) anyways saw that trade up value..not bad..but im gonna keep this game as its actually quite fun. :) maybe it will go 10 somewhere and go for 30 in tradein

Xbox robocop went down quickly a week later after I traded it up for 30 bucks :( was hard to believe they would give me so much for such a shitty game.

The thing is, you could probably find a bum on the street who'd pay you more than $5.50 for it...Sealed copies were going for like $40-50 on ebay just a few weeks ago, I believe. I'm just shocked that a.) they only give $5.50 when their values are usually good, and b.) you accepted it :booty:

Couple weeks ago I tried to trade in Karaoke Revolution for XBox, it came with the microphone, and the trade in value was $1. I am not sure if the person got it correct or not because she seems to have problem with it, I saw her kept looking at the little cards they used. In the end, she asked someone and told me it have trade in value of $1.
