OP - please update the Xbox 360 4GB Walmart console as it is only for the E model. Should be noted that the E model is inferior to the standard S models since there's no optical input so you can't use a gaming headset with this.
I hope the 'inferiority' of this model discourages as many people as possible from picking one up ... so there's at least one left for me ;-)

The $300 42"? I'm really tempted by that one as well but it's at the very top end of my spending capability right now and not sure if it's worth spending the money to go from 37" 720p to 42" 1080p. Anyone have thoughts?
Is it worth the cost to upgrade? For the size increase alone, probably not. For the resolution bump alone, probably not. Both enhancements, I'd say probably. If you're not going to upgrade now, might as well wait a full year till next BF and see what the prices do with 4K on the ever approaching horizon.

I say it will be at least 2 years before we see any real "deals" on 4k televisions. At that point, your probably still looking at around a $2000 buy in price point.

Agreed. I was just meaning that as the 4K tech comes closer to consumer reality, current tech should only drop further in price.

I'm really torn because that's all my BBY credit and then another $80 cash. Most of the stuff that's not filled with really small text (ie FF14) looks just fine on this set but things that are really dark don't (ie Warframe) but I've also never played any console games on a 1080 set to compare. The Sharp does have some other benefits over this Proscan (everyone feel free to laugh) like more HDMI and audio outputs so I can keep using my gaming headset. Hopefully the speakers would have a little more balance too where this set goes from way too quiet at 3 to way to loud at 5. The Sharp's 120hz as well but not sure how much impact that will have on games that have a locked frame rate.

BF models are made of cheaper quality parts. They are specifically made and advertised for Black Friday. These models are referred to as "derivatives" from the original base models and have a higher return rate than the original ones. You can still end up with a good set since not every set is a dud. My local Best Buy employees are discouraging me from buying one and actually recommend to wait until Superbowl week when the current models get phased out.

Hmm, yeah I was thinking about that too. If you look at the Insignia they're selling for $170 and the $300 sharp the housings are almost identical which seems like more than a coincidence. If I wouldn't have to stand outside for who knows how long I might just grab the Insignia to go up to 1080p but I'm sure that's going to be the item that the people who line up on Wednesday will be there for. I would probably be better off either waiting or trying to grab a similar open box TV at a similar price this week. Local BBYs have a 39" Toshiba (120hz) and Samsung (60hz) similar to the Sharp for about the same price open box and a similar model Insignia 39" I could probably get for $200. I'm just having trouble weighing whether I'm going to see enough difference in what I can spend (now or in a couple months) to justify having spent it and being happy with the purchase.

So if people want a discounted XBOX 1 or PS4 version of the BF games, you can use the Amazon trade up program.

It guaruntees $25 higher than TiV that you can only use to buy the Xbox 1/PS4 version. This is only on 4-5 select games (ghosts/bf4/FIFA being the ones I remember)

This would probably put the new system games at around $40. Not sure if the hassle would be worth it.

No Component/VGA out either. It's strictly HDMI or Composite.

If it's advertised in their ad they'll get that stuff specially shipped in this week and held in the back until BF. A lot of these super cheap games aren't heavily stocked any longer and that's what's going to happen with most of them.
If I recall the last several year at Wal-Mart. They will get in several pallets of games for this sale from their warehouse. Those are wheeled out into the store hours before the event and then covered. People will try and sneak, or rip it off at the last minute, but they are sent to the store for exactly this sale.

Having said that numerous cags over the years have gone to electronics and purchased the games from the case at the same price. So they usually have a dot or marker to show BF special inventory, they don't have a different UPC code. IIRC last year a few managers put the block on buying from electronics saying that those are not the BF copies and are for sale at full price.

Best buy also gets in inventory, but all copies go for the same price, difference is how many copies each store gets.

You might want to rethink that, if the PS4 version is anywhere close to PC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVfkbd2orQ0

Dat hair!
Thats like the only visible difference I saw.

Not that anyone cares but HEB (a Texas grocer) Black Friday is out.

Notable stuff: $130 3DS and Luigi Mansion bundle
$25 Battlefield 4, Madden 25, Pokemon XY, saints row IV, FIFA 14 and 25 other titles

$40 Cod Ghosts ( lists 360 and ps4 so I assume all)
Assassins Creed 4 (lists 360 and ps3 with no other versions mentioned)
Since when has HEB sold TVs and games? I have only ever seen cheap old DVDs and nothing more and have been going there all my life. Whats going on?!

Plus stores have all that junk. The first plus store started in San Juan and they expanded outward around 2009 I think. crazy but they never discount games. they still have Professor Layton and curious village for $35 :|

I think part of rationalizing is is there anything you'd rather get with that money on BF? TV's will be on sale again, so it's not like you're missing out on some crazy deal. If you have to justify the purchase for yourself, it's probably not the best purchase. As much as I would like to get a new CPU/GPU because some of the prices are pretty good and it's an improvement I'll be able to immediately notice, I'm actually on the lookout for 4TB HDDs instead. It's something that I'm going to need well before my planned new PC build for BF 2014. Not as sexy and a nice new video card, but better money spent.

You can just use the hard drives that are compatible with the fat models still since they are cheaper. Just buy a hard drive slim case which costs less than $10 shipped online and you can use a screwdriver to remove the chassis off the old HD and swap the drives. So the only extra work to you is to buy the slim case and 5 minutes of work. If you're that lazy you can buy a generic slim hard drive online but it'll cost you a lot more money.
Ok great! I didn't think they were compatible

Yes, the only difference is in the shape of the outer case shells.

For example, I use a 120GB hard drive for my S model. Even though there is no official MS branded 120GB hard drive for the S model, there is an official MS branded 120GB hard drive for the fat model. I just swapped these together when I upgraded consoles. You can view videos on YouTube on how to do this. You're welcome :)

I was debating on buying a TV for Black Friday as well but I decided last week to pull the trigger on a 40" Samsung SMART TV for $419 on Amazon (paid entirely with credit of course). Most of the BF TV's are cheaper quality and the price of the Samsung was not much more than I'd be looking at on BF, now I dont have to wait in a crowd for the TV (plus the Samsungs on sale at Target and Walmart arent SMART tvs). Definitely something to consider.

I think you're right as a whole and that wanting to upgrade to a new TV is more an impulse and would largely be minor upgrades.. There's not really any other BF stuff (not counting the Skylanders sets I'm grabbing Friday) I'm particularly interested in but that money can be put to better use on things like Mario 3D World, Zelda and a bigger PS4 HDD. Thanks for the input guys.

The Samsungs in the Walmart ad are smart models.

I've been toying with extracting BF Ad Video game data to use in my flipping hobby and figured I'd share what I have. It's pulled from BFAds.net so I can't speak to accuracy (but they have been good in prior years), Hopefully I'm not stepping on anyones toes or duplicating something similiar. I have not read the entire thread so apologies in advance. And seriously if the idea of flipping offends you please just ignore my posts. And if you find it useful show appreciation.

Not sure if you have a Fred Meyer in your area eldrich but they have a 48in 1080 on sale for BF for 400..

I'm sure you guys have discussed this, just haven't been keeping up with this thread. Is this Wal-Mart 11/22 pre-Black Friday Ad Match sale in-store or online only? And are they doing their prices too, or just competitors? Its kinda confusing...

It's both in store and online. As for pricing and anything else, I'm also curious. A two page ad doesn't seem noteworthy of the attention they got. It doesn't seem clear to me whether it's only items in the ad on sale or more than that..

I said it in the other thread but for now I would operate under the assumption that they're not as the two page ad makes no mention of matching any other BF sales beyond what's in that ad.

Checked this out and I think you made a well placed investment in doing it. Saw stuff on there I had yet to find in any of the visible ads on this thread. Good work.

Lame.... Was hoping to PM some deals to use up my BB giftcards and to get all my shopping done in one store.

:nottalking:

EDIT: excuse my laziness, post fix

I'm eyeing that 50" Vizio 3d from Bestbuy. Seems like a nice deal.

Are all their black friday deals besides doorbusters online as well?

Does anybody know which companies only offer these deals in store and which companies offer free pickup in store if we order online on thanksgiving and black friday?

hi, this is my first time I ordering stuff on black Friday and I have a question. would i be able to take an advantage of  best buy's deals if I order online? I don't live in the US(will have some one send it over) and I want the elder scrolls anthology.

Best buy might but with things selling do fast I wouldn't chance it. I will be going with the ship to home option.

Does anyone know what day typically the paper ads come out on for these? Is it the Wednesday before or actually on Thanksgiving? I want to PM everything at BBuy. Thanks!

I'm going to try and get the Amazon PS3 bundle.. anything that prevents me from having to sit outside a store for 7 hours for a chance at a bundle that EVERYONE has is a good thing.

I wish it wasn't a "doorbuster".. Damn thing should be that price all the time.

Also, this thread:

The downside to Amazon sales is not knowing which ones will be lightning deals. $25 for BF4 at Amazon is way better than trekking into Walmart, unless it's a lightning deal that sells out in 10 minutes during a time when I'm nowhere near a computer...

Edit: Also don't understand why everyone thinks the 250gb PS3 is such a great deal. The recent 500gb PS3 bundle with GTA5 for $230 seems way better, imo.

It would be amazing to know exactly what they plan on matching.... amazon that is.  More than likely I can plan ahead anyway, I need to compile my list and go from there.

Where are you seeing this for $230?

So Best Buy's $190 360 Bundle is an S model and Walmart's $99 360 is an E model?

I'm still debating which to get. I traded in my two old 20GB Pro models to BB for $200 so I could get their BF bundle. I already have the four bundled games... I just wanted a newer 360 model that won't sound like a jet engine. I still a fat 250GB hdd that I could gut to put into Walmart's 4GB 360. Any opinions?

Sorry I'm an idiot, I just got up for work this morning and checked some things. Did not check to see a thread was posted. My fault. I kinda don't know why each retailer needs it's own thread, though.
Naw, it's alright. I think it's good to mention it here as well since some people seem to look to this thread exclusively for Black Friday stuff. Even I had been doing that until I noticed yesterday that people are posting separate threads.

I just wanted to mention that other thread in case anyone wanted to read more discussions on the Amazon sales. No biggie. :)
