CAG Fast Food/Restaurant Foodies Thread

We're loaded with Circle K's out here (Arizona), seems to be one about every corner. Didn't know they had locations outside of Arizona.
You must not go out of your state much because Circle K's are all over the southeast... wish 7-11's would make a comeback down here... already have Dunkin' Donuts returning most everywhere, why not some slurpees to wash those down with lol

and om the subject of Red Lobsters, they are reviled by many down here for being a national chain, and the fact that we live on the coast, there are a LOT more fresher choices out there... that said I do love them cheddar bay biscuits... and the crab alfredo... but havent been in years. Hell, the casinos in Biloxi all have all you can eat crab legs, I'd much rather do that than go to RL...

Does anyone else eat at Red Lobster? I swear, every time I tell someone I went to Red Lobster I get a look of disgust. I don't get it. I typically get a shrimp dish and I'm never disappointed. And those biscuits.
Red Lobster isn't bad. It's just that there's usually better. If you live on the coast you can probably find a seafood restaurant in your town that serves something better for about the same price. That said, I do love ShrimpFest and all you can eat shrimp.

It's like eating at Olive Garden when there's an Italian restaurant that serves Ginocci and Risotto down the street.

Speaking of Wendy's, how is the new Tuscan Chicken?
The one I tried was good, just wish the Ciabatta bun was toasted a little more.

Red Lobster is the "Denny's" of seafood restaurants. Since I'm near the coast, I don't bother with them since local restaurants are better.

I do now and then, but not to the southeast so that is probably why . Only places I've been in the southeast is Downtown Nashville, Atlanta International Airport and Tampa International Airport.

I went once like 17 years ago, before I became allergic to shellfish. I liked it, don't know how it is now. My husband has never been and has been wanting to go, but no matter how much I try to convince him, he won't go because he feels bad eating what I can't have in front me.
They have chicken and pasta dishes. Can't say if they're any good but at least your husband can go guilt free.

Funny enough I live South Florida but you'd be surprised in the lack of decent seafood restaurants around here. Tropical fish just aren't as tasty as fish from colder waters.

Really? I called the one here to ask and the girl told me it was all seafood and pretty much acted like I was stupid for calling Red Lobster looking for none fish dishes. Hrm, I'm gonna have to check the menu online now :/

On the fish taste, I can't speak on that. When I wasn't allergic I wasn't a fan of fish, only shellfish, lobster and shrimp were my favorite, now they're poison to me ;-;

Edit: I just checked, they do, even burgers! Looks like we're going to Red Lobster :0

Just bought a 12-pack of Baha Blast, the Taco Bell MD exclusive which I guess they are selling in the public for a limited time. Never had it before. as the two Taco Bells around here are too distant for me to visit much and every time I'm at one I always go with a drink I know I'll like instead of trying it. Time to see what all the fuss is about...

...... I like the chicken alfredo pasta at Red Lobster. That's not a knock against their seafood. I'm just not a fan of seafood in general.

Is Baha Blast that blue drink at Taco Bell? If so, Destro's right; terrible.

They actually have some pretty damn good chicken dishes.

If you guys are talking Red Lobster you need to talk the Admiral's feast. It's the dish I used to always get at Red Lobster when I didn't watch what I ate. I think this plate included every fried item they have. I would never attempt that these days I would just go with grilled fish of some kind with rice and veggies. Any of you had the Admiral's feast before?

I forgot they were releasing it for a limited time. I enjoy the Baja along with the sangrita version. :)

Sweet Tomatoes tonight.  Yum Yum that was great.  In some areas of the country they are Souplantation (can't stand that name because of what plantation makes me think of).  If you never been there it's a buffet.  Not your typical buffet though.  It is salad, soup and fresh breads.  They also have things like mac n cheese, pizza and frozen yogurt or soft serve.  Everyone in the family likes it and the kids actually eat lots of veggies there.  The best part is the cheapass in me knows the cheapest way to eat there.  It can be kind of pricey for dinner at 10.xx plus a pricey unlimited drinks.  I always use a family coupon from e-mail or internet search.  $24.99 Family of four including drinks.  Try it out if you get a chance.

What do they charge for drinks? Get 7.99 lunch buffet coupons (No drink included) here now and then, and been curious to try it.

Between $1.69 to around $2. Unlimited drinks though and they have the best strawberry lemonade anywhere. Definitely give it a shot as everything is fresh there and you can have as much as you want. Favorite soups there are cream of mushroom and Abondagas Loco (mexican meatball soup with veggies). Do you like fresh baked muffins? They usually have 3 different kinds. The blueberry muffins are the best.

Hey hey hey, I have to disagree with you there

I love soup plantation, but their Albondigas soup is a joke. It is nowhere close to tasting like the real thing and tastes like a cheap knock off. That is no Mexican soup they have there.

Maybe it's because I'm Hispanic that I think this, but even my best friend hates it and she's from Cape Verde.

Everything else tastes good though. :D

(Side note: if this comes out sounding b-y I apologize, didn't mean it that way)

I agree with you it doesn't taste like the "real thing". I still enjoy it by adding the Pico de Gallo from the potato bar.

On the subject of "Hispanic soups". My favorite is a good posole. My best friends mother in law is from Guadalajara area and is a great cook. She cooked it for us one night and I really enjoyed it. Best green chilies at my house or my wife's aunt. We use Hatch green Chile's and pork. Sometimes add a little ground beef. I say we but mean them. Hatch is a New Mexico Chile.

Sorry for any misspellings I am not Hispanic.

It's okay no need to apologize, I'm Cuban/Mexican and I still misspell stuff in Spanish :)

I love Posole, but like Menudo more. Unfortunately the only good place that I hve found that makes it here is some little hole in the wall in the middle of Compton that you have to take your own pot to on Sunday and they charge you by the weight.

Also, there is a mexican dance bar place in Compton that makes tacos and posole at night to help all the drunkies not be drunk anymore when they want to go home. Omg, best posole ever! We have taken old family members there to eat at like 1 in the morning

Everyone stops complaining about going there to eat once they taste the food.

(Little known fact, posole is good for hangovers :) )

No food is worth going to Compton for.

My folks own a Mexican restaurant with pozole being the Sunday special. I get to eat a fresh batch every Sunday morning before work. It's become a very pleasant ritual, especially after Saturday night drinking.

Trust me

I hate ghetto places, but this food is worth it.

If you knew me irl, I'm sure it'd be easier to understand how good the food is for me to risk my life (exaggerating) and go there. Trust me :0
lol... I don't know if I would want to in Compton at one in the morning, I guess I've been in worst areas for Tacos in LA. lol.... Maybe it's worth the risk for tacos but I don't know about pozole, everybody claims they have the best.

I haven't seen a Circle K store ever since Susser Holdings changed their names to Stripes in 2006. Since then the stores have gotten some improvement with the most prominent being the addition of tacos.

That's pretty decent for drinks, not sure what it is at most buffets but used to soda being as high as $2.50 at some restaurants.

I like Sweet Tomatos. We often get coupons in the mail so that's ussually when we head on over. I love the soup selection, easliy my favorite thing about them. Their little pizza breads are good. The pastas are terrible though. And yeah, that strawberry lemonade is the bees knees. I usually add a splash of Sprite to give it some bubbly.

I have to disagree with the majority on the Baja Blast, I love the stuff. Especially as a slushie. It's one of those drinks I don't have very often like Root Beer & Cream Soda. If I had it all the time I'd get sick of it.

I loved the double down, outside of the fact I drank probably a gallon of water afterwards (though that happens after eating KFC anyways).

Went to Portillos for a beef today, probably not the best there is in the area but it is right down the street and cheap enough. Though their giardiniera wasn't as hot as I remember it being, which was a bit of a let down. Don't get why the default is just splashing some gravy on the sandwich, seems that would make it way too dry (I always get dipped)?

I had one each of the Chicken Cool Ranch DLTs from Taco Bell. I liked the spicy version a lot more than the regular one with avocado. Both were fine. :)

Also a friend invited me to Firehouse awhile back to try the Sweet Chili Thai Pork sandwich. I had the small, and from what I remembered the sandwich drips a lot. The sandwich really is sweet and pork is tasty. For some reason I thought it would be a little spicy given the advertisements of hot peppers around the sandwich. I grabbed a Pure Habanero bottle from the hot sauce rack to solve that issue.  :D

Finally have a Hardees opening the next town over. I haven't had Hardees in like 20 years. From what I remembered it was good, hopefully it still is
The Frisco Melt is still good. They have been making some crazy stuff lately too. The philly cheesesteak thickburger was pretty good when that came out, and the TO commercial for it was funny. Last summer they were giving an Oreo ice cream sandwich for free with every combo meal. The fat-ass in me hopes they bring that deal back :D

I don't think I could get myself to eat one those, it doesn't help that I don't like the KFC down the street from house either.

You really haven't missed much in 20 years other than the fact that they don't come out fresh like they used too. I remember when I was a kid I would stare at that machine cooking the burgers on the conveyor.

For those of you who've had both, which one is better Carl's Jr. or Hardees?

FYI, for those that care Hot Mustard is back at McDonalds.

well, I tried the Papa Burger at A&W and it was pretty mediocre.  It was $3.99 for a combo meal. The bun was terrible, the rest was okay. Perhaps a stand alone place might be better (this was with a KFC) but I'll just stick to chicken when I'm there.

Went to Boston Market earlier and tried their Tuscon Chicken. It was sooooo good. I always liked them more than KFC. Their mashed potatoes and mac and cheese are the best.

50% off family meals (with coupon) this Memorial Day. I'm getting the 3 person family meal: 1 whole chicken, 3 large sides & cornbread all for about $12.

The mac n cheese is okay, but I do like the mashed potatoes.

Nice.

Now that you are back from Japan, when are you going to try that Sonic on Commercial? I believe they have 50 cent corn dogs on Friday.

I also noticed they are advertising 20 something milkshake varieties available at Sonic.
