Oh gods it's been a long long time since i've been on this forum or played Socom. I've been so caught up in mag that i've forsaken Confrontation for a long time.

But ya'll, if S4 turns out to be a lot like MAG, don't bitch to much, cause the MAG teamwork is a lot better than nearly all games and when you have a whole clan together it can be a great experience. Today I even heard someone harping on another player about wanting points over a win.

And that video was hilarious. LOL.
 
Yeah the Teamwork in MAG is nice. Actually MAG isnt all that bad, just too much Respawning for me.

Option you check out the feature in the new Ghost Recon where 1 player controls the entire group? We could run the flying V! haha

Goldbug, the most interesting parts of the podcast was Seth talking about the lobby systems, how he basically created Socom and how bad he felt about Confrontation. It was an awesome podcast and reassured me that S4 MP will be great. No way Health Regeneration makes it in MP, hopefully they get rid of Blood Splatter. Glad you enjoyed it

Its nice to see the same group of dedicated players, every time i play. Did everyone decide if they were getting socom 4?
 
While I don't defenitely don't like Blood spatter, I was kind of hoping Health regeneration did make it into some parts of SOCOM 4. I really like MAG (It feels like a BFBC and Confrontation combined in a good way) but at the same time i'd like to see S4 go back to the Socom 1, 2, 3 days with some viable online play too. I really loved the campaign for those, so I hope they meet my expectations, and with some great online play it would be pretty epic.
 
Smog, I just spent some time playing source against bots, and its really really fun. CS 1.6 is like $6.75 on steam and there is no way you don't have a pc that can run 1.6. If you get it let me know.

Are yout alking about CS Source? I think that came with the Half Life 2 Collector's Edition I bought 6 years ago. I'll check it out once I get home and maybe I can hop on with you.

Every Night is Game Night! I think the last 5 or so nights I've been on PS3 its Socom.

Im not going to be around tonight though, because like Mr B I have some mediocre TV show to watch

Circle takes cover, but there is a bit of area where it'll activate (for obvious reasons). So in that sense there is some sort of cover snap, though it's not automated.

That radius is constantly being toyed with and was one of the points of feedback that we got at E3, so we're making sure that it's tight (you can't snap in from a far distance) while also not being too picky about position.

S_L_I_C_K's clarification about the cover zone is correct.

And yes, you can just walk away from cover by pressing away from the object. There is a slight delay (to keep you from accidentally doing it), but I don't know what the timing is currently. That's the sort of stuff that will get tweaked over and over until the game ships, so any number I told you now would be wrong by release anyway. --------------------

Cover system details
 
Just mailed away my copy today. I know it's been months since I've been on but I had a good time playing with you guys. I'll be waiting to hear your verdict on S4. Can't wait to call in a chopper gunner!
 
Here is a question, metaly and I have been discussing renting a counter strike server, would any of you guys be interested?

In case you don't know what CS is, its a lot like socom in that its round based and their is no respawn. Its slightly more complicated because there is an economy system, but once you play it for a little while its easy to figure out.

It would be a private server so we would only be playing amongst ourselves or against bots. Truth be told none of us would ever survive playing against the general CS community.
 
I just scored a copy of SOCOM Confrontation from the CAG Marketplace.. It's not really the SOCOM game I remember since I last played it about 5 years ago.. A lots changed since then. I was VERY into SOCOM 2 on the PS2 when that was big. I miss not having the single-player game... Talking to my AI team and barking orders through the headset was always the best part about SOCOM.

I'll be on the lookout for some [CAG] clan tags while playing the game.

  • ZIPLINE EP 11 Points
  • No jump to climb. Levels aren't designed this way. However, hurdling over objects has been shown in SP, so obviously there's some animations for getting over/around objects.
  • Multiple qeues for giving orders to your team. You can have them do one task, and immidiately go to the next.
  • The idea of adding MP only to the PSN Store is appealing to them.
  • They discussed showing, what I assume to be, MP in upcoming trade shows.
  • SOCOM4 will be using a similar engine to MAG, but many upgrades and will be much better.
  • Unlockables are a go. Whether they will be online or not has not been confirmed, but it appears this way. Trophies are more than likely NOT going to be tied to these unlockables.

Subsailor, I will make sure to add you on or before Sunday so you can join in the clan night. If you are playing before then, add a couple people from this thread to run with.

Also for MD, a gamepad playing Zangief just won the HDR tournament at EVO, and their is another pad gief in the winners bracket of the final 8 in SS4.

Sorry to be a little vague (for multiple reasons), but as it stands now there is some old stuff (but not all) and some new stuff. If there's enough time before release then perhaps more modes could be added (or appear over time), so I don't want to give numbers of anything.

Not that we're talking about MP or anything... --------------------

First of all clean up the Roper post, you don't need all that crap in the middle.

I think your right in that there will most likely only be one form of TDM. I'm not sure which I would prefer, both gametypes have their advantages and disadvantages.

I wonder if they will only keep one form of hostage rescue. If they do, I hope they keep extraction, even though its a much slower gametype than escort.

I hope they drop control points, 90% of the time it is simply elimination with predefined choke points.

I agree with only 1 hostage mode, I too hope for Extraction & I cant see that going away..I doubt Breach will be taken out too. I wouldnt mind switching Control for some other type of map-control mode.

Do any of you guys have COD Classic? Its almost like a FPS Socom. Def better than MW2. No health regen, dpad lean. Its pretty sweet but dead online

Also, Amazon lists the release date as September 30th, that seems like a place holder date to me. I think if it was that close to release we would have had the date announced already, I'm think more like late October early November.
 
Does anyone know if the gamestop exclusive dlc will be sharable? I don't have a gamestop in my area and would rather not wait to get the game, but if I need to buy it there to get the map I guess I'll do that.
 
I imagine it will be a simple 100KB unlock code and will most likely be shareable. Sadly they no longer give out cards with codes on them, it gets printed on your receipt. Therefore you cannot do the preorder and then switch games. Gamestop.com is always an option, but then your waiting for shipping.
 
but he can order from gamestop get the map and get it at midnite somewhere and just return the shipped one to midnite store
