I'll have to try to remember to do the same. Two seasons of a great show and a movie ticket sounds alright for about $36.
can you make more than one purchase using the coupon?
A couple years back, I made two purchases in two seperate tranactions, and the price was changed to the normal price on the second purchase.
Just keep using different coupon codes whenever you place an order.

You have to use different coupon codes. IE, 'supersale' is only good once, so for the 2nd order you use 'dvdtalk' instead.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but there's absolutely insane deals available here for The Complete Far Side and Complete Calvin and Hobbes collections.

Far Side - $53.54 ($85.05 on Amazon, $108 on Barnes and Noble)
Calvin and Hobbes - $59.34 ($94.50, $120)

I just picked up both. I've been wanting them for years but could never afford the $100+ they go for in stores. It'll probably mean I order almost no DVDs from the sale, but oh well.

I'm waiting for the 6th so I can order Hellboy (BD) and THe Warriors (HDDVD) and I'll probably pick up THE STING and BATTLE OF THE BULDGE too (HDDVD), since those movies are both awesome "watch at least once a year" for me.

I am still in a state of shock that the bd version of Planet of the Apes is fucking $33.00 retail. Thats insane for a movie that you can't give away on DVD for $4.99.........Casino Royale $29.99, Xmen 3 $29.99....those are just fucked-up prices, period.

Given a choice I buy HD-DVD simply because its often times several dollars cheaper.

OK, so here's my order:

WOW! Thanks for that tip! I didn't realize they were on sale!

Does anyone know if they carry the 2nd season pack of Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place packaged together? I found the first season double pack, but everytime I try to search for the 2nd season packs the first season comes up. They're titled similar "The Good The Bad and The Beautiful." I thought I saw the 2nd season pack on there before, but I can't find it now.

I'll wait a few days and cut my spending and see if I can justify this.
I want to blow about $100 to get some Pokemon/TMNT DVDs I'm missing. Argh.
So tempting. But I need a job, first.

My order before discounts:

Rome - The Complete First Season

King of Queens - The Complete Eighth Season
$27.89

4400 - The Complete Third Season

Scrubs - Season Five
$27.89

Without A Trace - The Complete Second Season
$39.73

I wish this came a little later. I still waiting to pick up my PS3.

Not sure if I should buy these BR movies now or just wait.
I wish this came a little later. I still waiting to pick up my PS3.

I guess this would depend on when you're getting a PS3. If it's going to be soon, you might want to pick some BR movies now, as it doesn't look like there'll be a universal price drop on BR movies yet. If it's later, you might want to wait it out. However, at this point, who knows when BR movies will start dropping in price...

Anyone remember how long it took for DVDs to start coming down in price when it was still relatively new technology? However long it took back then, I hope it'll be faster with BR.

Here's my second order:

1 FXD026731 DVD : TO BE OR NOT TO BE $ 8.31
1 FXD026743 DVD : ROBIN HOOD-MEN IN TIGHTS $ 8.31
1 FXD037162 DVD : HISTORY OF THE WORLD PART I $ 8.31
1 MGD008310 DVD : SPACEBALLS (CE) $ 16.30
1 WBD033671 DVD : MATRIX-ULTIMATE COLLECTION $ 28.71

Merchandise Total: $ 69.94

I'm too cool for HD DVD but I've wanted that Matrix collection for a while.. for $30 (considering I've seen it for $40 used at work) I couldn't pass it up. Also filled some holes in my Mel Brooks library.

The only problem? I have about $500 worth of stuff in my wish list. Cowboy Bebop sessions (.

In for the complete Looney Tunes Golden Collection set (nothing makes me happier), the new Droopy set, and a Svankmajer DVD I didn't have. If you haven't discovered Svankmajer's amazing stop action action animation you ought to check him out (preview it on youtube).
Anyone ever seen Baki the grappler ??? I thinkin of pivking up a boxset (has vols. 1-6 in it).....for $30 - 20%...is it any good???
My former club got the disc through Operation Anime. Honestly, I was expdecting total crap and ended up being surprised. It wasn't bad at all and wound up enjoying every episode that I saw.

I haven't seen anything beyond the fist disc, but at that price I'm gonna pick it up myself.

Damnit.

I just ordered another $175 from them and I ended up getting ripped off three whole dollars.

My wife wanted the Friends Box Set. Not a bad price (ends up less than $15 a season). Grabbed that.

Grabbed "The Wizard" for under $10.

Then picked up the complete Fawlty Towers set. They have it for something like $42 before discount, so it's like $33.60-ish after discount. Amazon has it for $30 regular. Dang. :(

I see that they price match, but you can't price match *and* use a coupon... which is a shame, because then the set would only be about $25. And when you figure I've spent about $300 in the last couple of days with them, the extra $10 savings would be nice. ;)
REVOLUTIONARY GIRL UTENA.

Best. Anime. Ever.
:applause: I approve! I also second that recommendation...

As far as my order went...

Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - Vol. 1 LE
Clatterford - Season 1
Ah! My Goddess: Flights of Fancy - Vol. 1 - Everyone Has Wings
How I Met Your Mother - Season 1
King of the Hill - Season 2
The Good The Bad and The Beautiful (2 pack set of Beverly Hills 90210 - Season 1/Melrose Place - Season 1)

Subtotal: $184.45
S&H: FREE
Coupon or Discount: $36.89

TOTAL: $147.56

I am quite happy with the purchase too... This will probably be my only order this time around though. Originally I was only going to get the first 3 on that list but after reading the rest of this topic I got more ideas in my head. Thanks! ^.^; At least some of the money spent will be a non-issue as I just got a rebate check back from an appliance purchase a month ago.

You'd be much better off with a show like Hajime no Ippo. Or hey, even better, Revolutionary Girl Utena!
:applause: I approve! I also second that recommendation...
I am going to third the recommendation for Utena. I absolutely loved the series.

OK, Utena question... a friend of mine lent me a volume from the Black Rose part of the show, and I didn't really enjoy it. Lesbian and incest innuendo, random symbolic-like death imagery i couldn't make sense of, and those staircase songs got rather annoying. (The Shadow Girls were neat, tho'.) Despite being familiar with the genral setup from some old articles, I just didn't 'get' the greatness of it.

Now, I know the Black Rose chunk is not the beginning of the series... if I start from the top, is anything going to make more sense? I don't mind weird or thoughtful shows, but this one reminds me a bit of Lain... lots of seemingly meaningful stuff, but no way to put in any sort of context- which I don't care for at all.

(And an unrelated question... does DD cary the FLCL ultimate set? I can't find it, but that doesn't mean too much. If they got it, I wanna price it.)

I'd assume that things would make much more sense if you watched Utena from the beginning, yes. However, it's still a very stylistic show, and often times relies heavily on imagery and metaphor to flesh out a scene, which is one of the many things I absolutely love about it. I would say that it's definitely less-vague than Lain, which is a show that I'd agree with you about. Utena is an anime that I can watch over and over again (and I have - about 15 times or so by now) and still notice new details and think about things from new perspectives, which I don't think I can say about many other shows. It's a deep, involving, dark fairy tale, and I cannot recommend it enough.

Also, the duel music will likely grow on you. At first I thought they were strange, but now I'm pretty much the biggest J.A. Seazer fan in the world.

Well I bit and ordered myself some new HD-DVDs. I got; Road Warrior, NIN Beside you in Time, Planet Earth and The Frightners all for $110. Not to shabby. Only down side is that the only thing instock is the NIN disc. Hopefully the other ones will get restocked soon and I wont have to wait too long for my movies.

Anyone know how to cancel an order?

My order is still in processing status and I need to cancel some of the items. Couldn't find anything on the site except doing a return when it gets here.

Any help would be appreciated.

You need to call them.

Haha, Utena... my girlfriend is always trying to get me to watch those. I probably should considering half of my room is covered in wallscrolls and other miscellaneous Utena stuff.

Here's my first order. It's my first time buying manga so I hope I got some good ones.

Prices are after discount:

Manga
BERSERK 1 $6.38
SATSUMA GISHIDEN 1 $6.84
GYAKUSHU! 1 $4.57
RUROUNI KENSHIN $3.63
MONSTER 1 $4.57
DEATH NOTE 1 $3.66
CLAYMORE $3.99

Graphic Novel
FLIGHT 2 $11.41

Artbook
DER MOND $10.62

Anime
GIANT ROBO $12.07

Total: $67.74

Hopefully I can find enough money to make a second order near the end of the sale.

I was looking for some good anime deals on here, but I stopped reading this thread at about page 3 when someone spent $250. That's just crazy.

Maklershed, Astro Boy, which is apaprently almost 10,000 minutes long (!!!) is only $20 with the coupon. Other than that, get Lain, Last Exile, Noir, or Kino's Journey. They re opposite-world versions of Dead Leaves.
Am i the only person who didnt care for Utena?
I have quite a bit of anime, including the Utena series that I bought at this sale last year at the suggestion of many. I was expecting greatness but ended up pretty "meh". If someone held a gun to my head and said "give up one of your anime titles" Utena would be it. Maybe since I deal in symbols and metaphors as a profession, I just prefer blood, boobs, guns, and kung fu in my anime... :)

toldawg128 - How did you get Death Note 1 for $3.66? The 20% off discount doesn't work on books. It's in my cart right now at $4.57.
I just prefer blood, boobs, guns, and kung fu in my anime...
And that's exactly your problem - you like crap! ;)

It does work on books that have the "mega sale" symbol. Take out the dvds in your cart so you just have books in there and see if it shows a discount to make sure.

Which code did you use? It doesn't show any discount anywhere for me.

Are Anime Legends Collections any better or worse than the original collections?
