Given the huge number of Florida CAGs on this board now, it seems like a good time to start pooling our knowledge to make the most of our time (and gas!).

I'll get things started...I'll try to keep this updated as new info is posted. If you have any info on Florida stores that you'd like to share, please post it here!

Best Buy
Altamonte Springs (SR 436): still some $10 games as of 9/13; no Y's or Paper Mario [mgreig]
Gainesville (Archer Road): limited stock, bad customer service [Msia]

Orlando (Florida Mall): Decent selection, disinterested staff. [kojubat]
Orlando (West Colonial): Good selection, sale games are usually clearly marked and gathered during clearances. Helpful staff. [kojubat]

About time for a Florida thread!

Tallahassee EB @ Ocala Street had a good looking Diablo (PS1) as of a week ago. This EB is also the best one in town for finding PS1 games as it is near the FSU campus and college students trade in games a lot.

We only have one Gamestop and if you are looking for good PS1 games there, forget it. 95% are in paper sleeves.
Sears maybe? I've read about other people price-matching there, but that could be YMMV. Not sure if they'd carry Radiata either since it's not mass-market, but worth a shot ;-)
Thanks for the idea. I called and the employee has "never even heard of that one". I might go up later just for shits and giggles since I have nothing else better to do. I was able to get a rain check at BB for the $40 price and then I can use the McDonalds coupon but who know when that game is going to be back in stock.

I live in Tampa, but spent the summer in Los Angeles, CA. There are almost no good deals to be found around here in any store as I was only able to get one decent bargain the four months I've been here (Otogi 2 during the BB sale). Based on personal experience, the deals in Florida seem to be much easier to find than Southern California.

I live in a small area, but the Cape Coral K-Mart in Coralwood Mall is having some great sales on games, but it's quite hit-or-miss. they're remodeling.

That's funny, I actually just moved from SoCal to Florida, and I've experienced the exact opposite. I couldn't get in on any sales in the LA area, since there were so many people to compete with. Hoarding was especially bad at the stores where I lived near Thousand Oaks/Ventura. But here in Florida, it seems like there's less competition overall, at least the bad type of competition which wipes a store out.

Updated the OP. I'm going to check out some Orlando-area GS's today for the buy-2 get-1 sale, so will report back later.

Checked the GameStop in Winter Park on 17/92. They were cleaned out of rare PS1 (which is what I was looking for), but they did have some desirable PS2 used games...

Atelier Iris: $45
Shining Tears: $45

Find a third game that you want for that price, and it would come out to around $27 per game with your GS card. Not bad.

New place in West Melbourne called 'Planet Replay'... it's a pretty big store. Used games - back to PS1, music cd's and DVD's. Prices range for 'great' to 'what are they thinking...'. 7 or 8 large isles of games.

I picked up Final Fantasy Orgins PS1 (non greatest hits) for 13.99, Magic Tetris Challenge N64 for 3.99, Mario Kart N64 3.99, and Sonic Mega Collection for GC 11.99. Large inventory on most games - I noticed 'Best Buy Inspected' stickers on almost all of the games... ???

More results from various outings today:

Sanford Gamestop (17/92 @ Lake Mary Blvd). Tons of good used PS2 stuff for the B2G1. Wish I could afford them ;-) This store is worth the trip out.
- Stella Deus $45
- Atelier Iris $45
- Arc: End of Darkness $45
- Y's $32 (I think)
- Growlanser $32
- Wizardry $25
- Culdcept $15

Sanford Gamestop (across from Seminole Mall, in the Target Plaza): very limited stock (it's a new store). Nothing interesting.

Lake Mary Gamestop (on Lake Mary Blvd) - didn't see anything good. Don't waste your gas.

Sanford EB (Rinehart Rd, in Walmart Plaza) - absolutely nothing. Very few PS1 games, no sought-after PS2 games. Blech.

Sanford Best Buy (Rinehart Rd) - amazingly, there's lots left. Several copies of Medal of Honor: Rising Sun NGC for $5. Lots of $10 games left: Colin McRae 04, True Crime NGC, etc. PM me if you were looking for something particular...there was no Y's, Paper Mario, Growlanser, or Mech Assault 2 left though ;-)

I was running some errands around Colonial and Alafaya and I just happened to pass by Rhino games, which I hadn't even heard of until someone mentioned it in this thread. So I decided to stop by just to see what it was like. I have to say that I was really impressed. That Rhino location is by far the nicest looking and most organized game store I have ever seen.

As for selection, it seems as if they mostly specialize in used games. They do carry new games, but their used sections are much larger. They also carry a bunch of old school games (N64, NES, Genesis, etc.) as well as some old school accessories and controllers. The games are really easy to browse through (they have makeshift cases to advertise the games instead of having cartridges lying around everywhere). I didn't look through all platforms, but I did see a few pretty good deals. (It's also worth noting that it seems they don't carry PC games).

BTW, if you're wondering, this is located across the street from the Walmart Supercenter near Colonial and Alafaya.

Well done :applause:

so far in the month since being back in miami i have found a bunch of interesting games, including valkyrie profile (x2) and tactics ogre.

i've seen other titles, like lunar 2, suikoden, and alundra, but they've been too highly priced for me to snap them up.
BTW, if you're wondering, this is located across the street from the Walmart Supercenter near Colonial and Alafaya.
I used to live in the Orange Park/Jacksonville area before moving to Orlando for college, and I noticed a trend. If it's not in a mall, Rhino's tend to either be in the same shopping complex as a WalMart or right across the street. I wonder if this conscious placement really brings in more traffic.

And here's something to add to the EB listings. In Orlando, the EBGames across from University of Central Florida (UCF), don't expect to get away with any deal shenanigans when Kevin, the manager is around. (For example using the printed out Nintendogs coupon; he knew exactly what to look for.)

Too bad you couldn't pick these up while the B2G1 sales were on...that's about the only time I frequent GS and EB for used games. $45 for a used game is tough to swallow....$28 (after discounts and B2G1) is much easier ;)

Best Buy - Ocala: Average Selection, Lesser-known titles usually in the back or not offered. CS is 50/50. Either they are nice, helpful, and will fetch a game from the back for you with a smile (genuine or no) or will be a bitch and/or try to interrogate you in order to avoid doing their job.

GameRush - Ocala: Decent selection, but wildly varies. Xbox 360 pre-orders were SLLLLLOOOWW at this store, BTW. Nice, friendly staff, but then again, I'm a regular.

Circuit City - Ocala: That store is a mess. Very unorganized 60% of the time, but the CS makes up for it. If you really want a DVD during their sales, get there on Sunday. Games are hit-and-miss, during some sales games will sit there until Thursday, and other times shelves are picked apart by Tuesday night.

Rhino - Ocala: Good selection, decent CS. More "seasoned" gamers work there, but they can get a little too suspicious of trade-ins. Which, BTW, isn't that great in terms of credit offered.

EB Games - Ocala [Paddock Mall] - Good selection, decent CS 90% of the time. Rarely packed, but does get average mall traffic.
In Orlando, the EBGames across from University of Central Florida (UCF)
I didn't even know we had an EB near UCF. If for some reason I need to go to an EB (which is pretty rare), I normally go to the one at Oviedo mall. Hmm, now I feel stupid. ;) Maybe this location is a newer one? Because when I looked up EB locations when I started UCF in 2003, I don't remember seeing that one.

Man, I wish there was a Rhino closer to where I'm at in Deltona. They sometimes do a Buy-2-get-1 deal like EB and GS did this weekend right?

Damn, I gotta get back to Tampa Roufuss before you clean out the pawn shops:)

Nothing in Tally, the Diablo is still at the EB, otherwise its dry season.

Tampa is the haven for video game deals, if you live in Orlando, its worth the trip to try a few pawn shops, youll find something.
Damn, I gotta get back to Tampa Roufuss before you clean out the pawn shops:)
.
Haha, I don't even go that often... Lulu just tells me if she finds anything interesting when she goes that she passed on, and I decide if it's worth the gas to drive up there on Monday.
Scored NBA Street Showdown for PSP for 23 dollars today from a pawn shop in Tampa... thanks for the tip, angeliclulu :D
I'm glad you got it.

Well, i'm in the tampa area. Ruf is about the only one on here who knows me. Lulu, try and include me in the pawnshop heads up. Ruf and i talked in the past about letting eachother know when we'll go and check out the strip on nebraska and hillsborough. we can all work something out and make a killing.
the last good buy i got was Dr. Mario for GBA for $4.
I was wondering if anyone was able to get in on any of the last BB deals at the Waterford Lakes BB?
I didn't even bother, and I live right down the street from there (on campus at UCF). I figured they wouldn't have anything. They have a horrible selection of games. I don't know if anybody else here bothered to go, though.

It's across the street from the entrance to Greek Row, by the little shopping area before you get into Pegasus [whatever-this-one-is]. The "shopping area" also has Moes, Subway, Starbucks, and a haircut place. There's also a gas station to the left; a BP, I think. It opened during the summer of '04.

Yeah, I didn't bother going either. The only deal I ever got, was the madcats retrocon controller for 4.99. They don't really have much in the way of games there. Luckily they'll be building a circuit city across the street.

Pummba, Suko_32 and I also represent the gainesville crew along with a few regular lurkers ;).

Suko_32 and I have facebooked one another and keep in touch with whats going on in gainesville/ocala.

Almost 2 years here at cag and tons of deals...and tons of sealed games still to play ;).

anyways for people in our area toss me a pm or let me know your facebook info if you are a student.

CAG used to have a meeting system set up on another site. It would be beneficial if we all get together and share our knowledge and work together, instead of all wasting gas at 3x a gallon at empty stores.

The BB and Target here sucks, rarely anything decent. CC,Tru,Rhino,EB,GS are the better places. Ocala has also held some treasure.

We can all exchange want lists to lookout for, as well as trade lists.

Im still sporting a few extra saturns etc, and doubles of several games that ive been holding for trade fodder.
Yeah you're right. The Rhinos I've been to were usually near a Wal-Mart.
Right now in Gainseville we only have 2, both by walmart. At one time there were 2 others, one in the mall and one by the University (which was the best.)

If not by walmarts I ususally see them in malls.
Luckily they'll be building a circuit city across the street.
They are building a CC across the street from Waterford Lakes?!? When did this happen? Is it going in the new shopping center with Kohls? If true, that's great news since our CC is so far away.

Ah, I see. I know where that is. Just never noticed an EB there before.

Really?! That means I can stop whining about having to drive all the way down Colonial. Now if only they'd put a CompUSA nearby that isn't almost an hour drive.
Yup, you never saw the big sign they put up? LOL. They have cleared the site and construction should start pretty soon.
They should also fix up the Post Office exit situation while they're at it.

The Post Office exit is not really that bad, but it would be better if they connected it to the shopping center next door once it's done (so that you could use the traffic light to pull out).

Not me...I checked 4 or 5 BBs and didn't see it. That one didn't seem to be a very common find for most on this board.

^ You would be surprised how easy it is to do that. I've actually done it with people I post with on another message board. I didn't even realize I saw some of them in real life until later on when we were posting about our day.

Has anyone checked any of their local KBs for possible deals? I'm considering going out to look but don't want to waste the gas if any of you guys have already gone and found nothing.
I live in a small area, but the Cape Coral K-Mart in Coralwood Mall is having some great sales on games, but it's quite hit-or-miss. they're remodeling.
Cape Coral? I live in Lehigh Acres (on the opposite side of Ft. Myers, for those who don't know the area).

The Lehigh Wal-Mart sucks in terms of game selection. The one on Colonial and Six Mile Cypress is way better (that's where I got my DS). I hardly go into Ft. Myers, but the Best Buy has some good deals. I found Advance Wars 2 for $10 back in January. As for the Edison Mall, stay away from FYE. It's totally overpriced.

I used to live in Tampa (USF alumnus). This site would've been handy back then.

there's a new ebgames that just opened near bcc in cocoa - if anyone else is in the rockledge/cocoa/psj/merritt island/titusville area let me know. i think me and neosmith19 happen to be the only CAGs in this immediate area.

I hit the pawn shops in Brandon this week. Nothing of much note. Pawn King in Seffner had a couple complete GBC games. I got Link Oracle of Ages Complete. The two I left was Link DX and Hamtaro Unite. (10 a piece)
Other items I saw but did not get: Robotech Battlecry Collectors Edition ($60 at EZ Pawn on Highway 60 Brandon), Spiderman 2 PSP Game (20 at EZ Pawn on Highway 60 Brandon), Full Metal Alchemist 1 and Spliner Cell (metal case) 10 dollars each at the new Cash America by the EZ Pawn.
The only other thing I found was a disc only Brave Fencer Musashi for Five dollars at Value Pawn in Seffner.

Checked the KB Toys in Volusia Mall (Daytona Beach). They had Hitman Contracts (PS2 and XBOX) but nothing else. No Sly 2, No R+C...boo.

Has anyone found this so called 'Red magazine' at Best Buy, with the $10 off coupon for any game $29.99 or over? I've checked the Sanford and Altamonte stores (orlando area), and no dice so far. Anyone find any?
